from Coach. Good to see, and I am glad he is doing this. Sorry if this has been reported elsewhere under another thread.
Despise this "his conditioning" crap, no, that is his responsibility as an athlete to keep himself in shape. Put down the fork JJ, just put down the fork and make millions.
Shame of it is that he's got potential, if and a big if, he matures and starts to act like a pro....we'll see...
If it takes getting cut for the big man to finally wake up and become a professional, then we can't lose sleep over it. Some people just can't get the message in their head, no matter how much screaming you do, until you push them over the cliff
Satele was a good player for them. They are a mess so no telling if they'd even bother making a trade, but something like Jerry for McLain would make sense for both teams. Raiders could very well be the worst team in the NFL this year, esp if they Jettison Carson Palmer, they pretty much have lost everyone else from Bey to Huff, they have zippola.
Satele was good for them. I've always liked him, and I fist bumped you for giving credit where credit is due. I need to make clear, however, that I want absolutely nothing to do with Rolando McClain. Not only will he be cut, he's a thug, a locker room cancer, and hasn't proven that he can live up to the hype, anyway. IIRC, he's only a 2-down player. I have no idea why you'd want him. One of the bigger busts of the past few years, IMO. Non-salvagable/total loss.
I wonder if the Lance Louis signing was an indicator that someone, somewhere had seen Jerry and that he appeared to not be living up to his end of the bargain, or at least to the extent that Philbin hoped.
Which is crazy because he was heralded as being a good character, student of the game, standing next to Saban during practice to learn, etc.
B/c the talent is still there, and for both teams it could be addition via subtraction. McLain works out for us we got a top 8 pick for a guy who really needs to worry more about getting in the line at the buffet over the line in the sand.
A top 8 pick that has NOT played well. IF he was a serious linebacker, then perhaps you could over-look his aholedness, but noooo he not is a grade a criminal, he also sucks as a player. No thanks!
McLain is one of the few bad marks on the Alabama program since Saban has been there. Really surprising. But, he gets into too much trouble. ANd, I don't think they would want him. Jerry is just too bad. Doesn't have the maturity he needs to become a solid starter. If he came in to off-season camp at 330 he could become a stud. For me, it's not the eating - as much as a) what he eats, but also, more vitally, b) how much he is working out. When you work out you need to eat a lot of calories to give yourself fuel (the good kind of fuel, ideally, but still you can slam a lot of steaks and do well). If he's running, lifting, in the gym 5-6 days a week he could still eat a lot. I just don't get pro athletes who don't do that. I'd love to be paid to work out every day. Enjoy it when I get into it but never have time. Just sad.
If I made millions I'd hire a trainer to be on my *** every day. Sometimes it's just an hour a day that's needed.
I would also hire a professional cook, a life coach, a nlp coach, a hypnotist, a financial coach, and anyone I would need to make sure I keep on making millions and make it so I can make more millions.
An offensive lineman, if working out properly 4 days a week, needs about 5000 calories ( of the right food ) every day to stay in proper shape. Thats a lot of food for anyone but again, it has to be the right food.
This was Paul Soliai a few years back. Light finally turned on for him after about three years… maybe JJ will get it now.
Where in the contract does it say that once I pay you millions a year, you have the right to not train your body to perform the job that I pay you to do to the highest level that your body has the ability to put out. All this topic does is piss me off beyond belief..the nerve of these ignorant dumasses.. That being said, I hope he got the message that our oline coach gave him loud and clear.
I read an article yesterday that said that Jerry and Louis would compete for the right tackle job? Does Jerry even fit the mold of what they are trying to do with the offensive line now? Irregardless Jerry has to decide what he loves better, a pro football career or an all you can eat buffet?
Lets not assume Jerry hasn't tried and isn't trying to lose weight. Behaviour change can bring up emotional stuff that is hard to change. That said, if he needs support (like a therapist to help him stay committed, motivated, feel deserving, not eat emotionally, etc) then he can afford it and should get the help he needs.
By that logic, let's bring in Albert Haynesworth and JaMarcus Russell... we'll have to trade Tannehill, though.
