Miami Dolphins New logo/uniforms Thread

Yes the Miami Dolphins facebook posted a picture of him with the shirt, and they are giving away the shirts in the "Fin Club" through a sweepstakes. Fin Club is like a rewards program for logging into the website and stuff.

 

Maybe this was the plan all along?

Yes, that's the point, they're still curved. I never said they had to have a drastic curve like the original one. I only said they should identifiably look like they're jumping. Even a less drastic curve than the original still lends the perception of a dolphin jumping, whereas the new one looks as much or more like he's swimming than jumping based on perception and the mind's association of what jumping & swimming dolphins looks like.

Personally, I don't care about what a dolphin may look like in the wild when he means business b/c the perception is what should be more important IMO. If you want a dolphin to look like he's jumping in front of a sun, then make it look like he's jumping, not this confusing posture the new one has where you can't really tell what the heck he's doing. But even row 9 column 3 is still arched downward regardless of how slight it may be, not upward like the new logo. On top of that it goes back to symmetry, which I thought graphic designers place a great deal of emphasis on. Where's the symmetry of an upward turned dolphin when you have a downward curved helmet and downward curved stripe down the middle of the helmet? Shouldn't the dolphin's posture also be arched downward to maintain that symmetry?

 

It's a helluva god damn note when ya have to explain or defend using Bing rather than Google.

I just don't understand how anyone would argue against the subjective POV of others.

It's like people who can't see the optical illusion screaming at those that it doesn’t exist.

And when your twisted logic concludes that those who do see the optical illusion just hate the intended image, it proves your logic wrong.

 

Colors do look different too.

 

It's trending because most people are talking about how hideous it is.

 

Wish they introduced the FA's with the new gear.

I'm not sure thats really representative. People will go out of their way to complain. I don't think someone that likes it a little more than the current is going to go out of their way to make their slight approval be known.

True, but we're talking about it trending.

 

Agree with this 100%. Finally having it rotated so the snout is well above the tail makes a big difference compared the previous shots of being horizontal, and these colors don't seem as contrasting as what we first saw, which to me is more soothing on the eyes.

 

Dee says its a complete rebranding, which I'm assuming would entail new script as well.

I think the T-shirts you see were specially made just for now, to only display the logo.

I would have guessed that this early into the change, the new logo wouldn't be this popular.

 

I'm not the one who as argued for a realistic look. You did that with your bing search...you're the one hung up on the dolphin having to be in realistic pose relative to the sun. I'm saying if you want realistic, then going with anything similar to the old pose makes the dolphin look like he's frolicking. If you want a fancy helmeted frolicking dolphin, fine, so be it.

I was not the one that made the symmetry argument.

 

Complainers complain. But looking at the discussion in this thread, I would say that the large majority like it. It's really only a few that are being negative.

 

It's the seaworld logo!

 

Actuall doing a google search on the seawold logo makes me believe you never done a google search on seaworld logos since the old logo looks much closer to a seaworld logo.

The actual seaworld logo looks nothing like a marine animal.

 

When I've seen polls on past logo changes the initial reaction has been about 70% or more against. If they hit 50/50 that would be a huge validation.

 

Ultimately who gives a toss what it looks like. I don't care if it's a steamy dog turd as long as we win the Superbowl. It could be like a beautiful piece of Edward Hopper art and then we go 1-15 and no one gives a balls.

 

I think these numbers look great, JT. I like how the whites are all aqua & white but with a hint of orange for a nice complimentary affect IMO.

YES, I know that Aston Villa has used that lion for 123 years.

Problem is that Lowenbrau Brewery has used it for much longer than that.

The Dolphin should be carrying a gun, a knife or a taser. They've missed a trick.

 

I'm willing to bet, that its so close for this, not because our new logo is that good, but because people really hate the old one.

 

Give it a year and nobody will give a crap about the '97-2012 logo and nobody will buy merchandise with it on it
