NFL is all about causing mis-matches. You put him and Mike Wallace on the same side of the formation? The defense is going to be on there heels fast. As speed kills at the pro level, Tennehill will look 2x better, because of this move. Because of the big play ability and yards after catch of these two speedy recievers. I personaly would love us to draft him.

I must really renew my subscription fast, but there are A LOT of guys here in the main who I dig, respect and who are smart. Your aversion to youtube videos is nothing short of bizarre. Just about every video, ever shot, from amateur to professional is on YouTube. And for the record, our "gurus" here have many, many a time used clips from youtube. Yes, I am not a professional scout and I don't have access to all of the "scout tape". You are truly missing the point. No, I guess it's not pro scout tape or whatever, but it served my exact purpose. It's not like it's made up and they're actors or comp simulations. It is the actual players running actual plays from actual games that actually happened. If you are smart enough and know what to see and are able to put it into it's proper perspective, it really shouldn't be a problem, but you are, obviously, unable to do so. It's not rocket science to make a video. Was that not Tavon running those plays? Who was it? Go watch some "amateur" videos of Russel Wilson at Wisconsin from last year and tell me if they're pretty accurate and telling of how he played and why he was successful in his first year. I watch all the games and footage I can of prospects which I like, the good and the bad. This is just because this prospect whom I like has some special talents and I wanted to share the good with you. You are the one who is making some bizarre argument about the vid. Geez, lighten up dude and just enjoy. I am just excited about the kids potential and it was just some REAL, cool footage of him which I just happened to catch, just to wet the beak. Chill. Sounds good to me as it seems everything has been covered on this important issue and the OP has spoken. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how Austin develops at the next level. I just hope if he ends up meeting the expectations of half the forum, that he does so with the Dolphins. As much as I like Bess, the potential is undeniable and I don't think anyone can really complain if they grab Austin at 12 and swap Bess for a pick (a 4th? 5th? Hopefully not lower than that) or perhaps as part of a package to trade back into the 1st, etc. Hartline / Austin / Keller / Wallace has so much big play potential, I may have to buy an XBOX just to contain my excitement if that were to play out.

I agree with Cosell's comments on Austin. I'd use him in the slot most of the time, but would also look to get him 5-6 carries a game out of the backfield and would not hesitate to use him on the outside too.
I think he is just having a little fun before having to run out of bounds. I've seen him do this on a couple of runs. It's the same move Walter Payton used to do. I liked it then, and I like it now. I'm sure it has happened plenty, but I have yet to see someone get a good hit on him.
Yeah try telling that to Oklahoma....Tavon put up around 570 total yards on them and Oklahoma is a pretty good football school. I think we should take him at #12.

I couldnt get to this earlier since I was at work but the reason this was left here is because Ireland was personally seen at a few West Virginia games the last 2 years, most likely scouting Tavon and Bailey. If this hadnt been public knowledge we probably would have moved it since generally thats part of my justification for moving a thread is how it relates in this case to the Dolphins since thats the forum its placed in. As for youtube video's, take them for what its worth. You can like or dislike them but please do not disparage or crap on another posters thread because you dislike it. Theres like a 100 other threads you can find in this forum, just pick one of those. Like the saying goes...if you have nothing nice to say, then dont say it.

I think they are the top two playmakers in the draft, but two things about Cordarelle that give me pause: 1. It's something I've mentioned several times, but when I watch him play, I see an extremely talented receiver whose production does not match his talent. Why is that? 2. Can he learn a complex, multiple formation offense like this?
Lot's a great comments in that post: I agree with this comment. I've said it in another thread when comparing Patterson and Austin. Outside of the size difference, the biggest difference between the two is what they do before they catch the ball. Patterson's athleticism stands out when he has the ball in his hands, but not so much before he gets the ball. He's still a novice when it comes to the details of playing the wide receiver position. I haven't really paid that much attention to him to this point though because I don't think he's really a consideration for Miami. I've said for a while that while some knock Allen for a lack of speed, he is the detail king in this draft when it comes to playing the receiver position with the exception of one thing. He tends to pop up before making a cut. His feet are impressive though, and he is a quick accelerator. You have to worry about that knee though, as he may not be able to work out for anyone prior to the draft. I wonder how attractive it would be for Miami to possible get him at 42, because that could happen. Eifert and Allen? I agree. See his work vs Dee Milliner.
It's what I've been saying all along. He's a great athlete but he's raw. You have to hope he'll develop. I see him as a very risky pick. I don't think he has great hands and I know he's not a good route runner. And I have questions about his intelligence. IMO all that is not outweighed by "he' taller". He may develop and become a great player, but I don't see that as being as much of a likelihood as I like in a top 15 pick.
Austin would be a fantastic pickup, and I can't imagine Ross having someone higher on his wish list that this guy.
Austin has a better chance of making it to 12 than Patterson does. in the end, i think both have a good chance of being there. I'm not taking Austin over Patterson, but that's just me. Patterson is actually more versatile than Austin, and we can ease his transition into the West Coast offense by using him in WR screens, reverses, even some wildcat packages. you can find ways to get him the ball. I'm not going to let Hartline or Gibson being on the roster keep me from drafting a 6-2 version of Percy Harvin.
To be honest having both Hartline and Gibson makes taking Patterson easier. If he takes a year to develop, Miami doesn't have to count on him at all.
I think if you look at the history, only Tannehill would fit into the not expecting on making an immediate impact in round one. Even though he did end up making one. With that, I don't see him taking a chance if he doesn't have a back up.
I'll say it again, Patterson scares me because I don't think he's comfortable catching the ball outside his wheelhouse, I also don't think he has good length in his arms.. There is no wide receiver that has the vision that Tavon has..and noone that has the speed and quicks to match.. Easy decision for me, Tavon and Eifert over Patterson.
Tavon's arms are shorter than CP's. in fact they're shorter than almost every receiver at the combine. Patterson has longer arms than Goodwin, Swope, Stills, Woods, Marquess Wilson, and Terrence Williams. Longer arms than Jennings, Wallace, Roddy White, Harvin, Andre, Miles Austin, Decker, Antonio Brown. 31 3/4 inches is fine dude.
IMO, that is something that is more than likely due to his experience at this point and will get better when he gets more comfortable with the speed of the game. Patterson potentially has a very large catch radius. I also have no issues with his hands. I didn't see him drop many passes on film, and the numbers show that he only dropped 4.2% of his passes. He and Tavon Austin have the best hands among the receivers with both having a 4.2% drop rate. The next best is Keenan Allen at 4.7%. For comparison, Justin Hunter droped 12% of his passes, and I've said before that I have big issues with his hands and concentration.
If Philbin wants a do everything WCO receiver, then I think Keenan Allen is our guy. And you might be able to get him at 2a. And if you fail to do that, Swopes is a nice fall back option slightly later on. Tavon is a special talent, but you have to find ways to get him in space and hope he never gets hit squarely. With the four receivers we have currently, Tavon is a luxury. As a side note, Jordan Reed is the right kind of H-back/TE prospect. Barely a mention, why?
Tavon is 5'8, CP is 6'3... I don't know, maybe it's a relative thing as in relative to his height, his arms are shorter than the average 6'3 guy, and when I Combine that with how he shrinks his target zone, somethin seems off.

I feel similarly about Tavon, and the WCO options though I prefer Stedman Bailey. I was trying to tout Reed a bit in February, as his abiloity after the catch FAR surpasses anything the rest of the TE class can do. But then you look at him cloesly enough and realize, it's because he's a borderline WR in terms of size. The combine serverely disappointed me for Reed. He was shorter AND lighter than I hoped. 6'2", 236lbs. Charles Clay is 6'3" and 250lbs. Is Reed 'too small', well, not necessarily... but Clay is a MUCH better blocker. Reed plays like a WR in that sense. If Reed is going to be a liability in blocking, I need him to be great in terms of speed at least. His 4.72 at the combine REALLY lowered how excited I was for him. I mean, instead of a guy who will be DEADLY attacking the seam vertically in addition to his YAC ability, you have a guy whose ability to attack vertically is aaverage at best... which leaves me with just his great YAC ability, on an undersized guy who is a below average blocker. The more I looked at him, the more negatives were adding up and all I had on the other side was one big positive (YAC ability). I mean, I'd spend a 4th or 5th on him, but not more than that at this point.
I think you're looking too much into it. Arm length is nice but hardly ever comes into play. You're talking once or twice a season and even if your arms are elastic it's no guarantee you will make that ridiculous catch. the only thing arm length impacts is not letting corners get into your body on the bump and even that is easily overcome with good handwork. Aside from all that his arms are long anyway.
That isn't the same as arm length at all though. Because having longer arms than all of those players means at full extension...he has more reach. What you're talking about is something entirely different and unique to length, its more of a reaction/mental type thing.

I get it Alex, I've thought about both things, the wheelhouse thing is mental yes, but I still get a sense when I watch him that for his size there's something about the length of his arms that seems a bit on the shorter side relative to his height, which would compound the original problem I have with him.
