    New England's

Amendola signing reduces the odds of Tavon Austin being selected, imo.

If New England gets Marquess Wilson and Tavon Austin, that will not be good. Wes Welker got screwed in his first NE contract after the wheeling/dealing that netted us the extra 7th rd pick, then this. Good to see that he got a decent contract from Denver, but he should have made more money during his time at NE imo, he did great work for them.

Quick Mock based on that. Not sure if Cyprien could fall, but safety may be a slow mover this year.

    1) Austin
    2) Cyprien
    3) Escobar/Kelce

Interesting way to look at it.

The thing is, this meeting-list os so incomplete as to almost be inconsequential. I mean, I think we get 40-60 player meetings at the combine, and we have only three listed here.

So, yeah. The other thing is, many guys we draft have said Miami never even met with them.

Mainly this is grist for the gossip mill. lol. I love your idea of mocking the people we've met with though. If we could get a REAL list of the players we've met, that would be very very cool to mock.

    Great stuff, BPK! Thanks.

I said this in another thread - if the Pats got Austin - that offense might be unstoppable.

I Like that we are looking at Austin and Kelce. If we got austin, we'd want a good blocking TE. Lane Johnson would be great but there goes explosive players (imo) - though a kid like Bailey in round 2 would be a good player ultimately (just think he wouldn't contribute much this year). Austin contributes on special teams and multiple sets on offense immediately.

Kind of wish they had also invited Shamarko down - I like what he brings in size (short but at 5'9 213 he's a rock) and athleticism. As Mayock put it, he is Bob Sanders.

Not sure - Amendola is a replacement for Welker, he does not add anything on his own. Tavon Austin would then add to that offense. Let Gronk/Hernandez clear space, draw LBs/CBs and allow Austin/Amendola to zig and zag all over. Could be bad. I think Austin is long gone though for the Pats unless they sacrifice a lot of resources.

Any idea if there were first and second round picks that we did not meet with? I have no idea. Having a full list would indeed be great.

Have all these been confirmed by second sources? I would hesitate to believe it if not. See the Patriots' list.

I was going to say that doesn't look like nearly enough names on either list let alone who's on it to be honest.

He feels a bit slow to me. Maybe I'm way off, because I only watched 3 of his games while focusing on him, but I don't think he has the speed to fit into this new defensive strategy.

    I've been way before though.

Thanks. As I mentioned, this one lacks way more than it offers. Damn near unless, except to tease us.

Can you share your list or will you save it for draft winds (hint hint)?

Just an FYI on Alonso from Gil Brandt's pro day info:

In an interview he said he is still rehabbing a wrist injury and that's why he didn't lift.

Fast, violent and aggressive. But I really like how he sees what he sees, trusts his instincts and then attacks what he sees. He can be a little too aggressive, but that is more here or there than him simply running around like a chicken with no head. I'd love to have him in the fold, if we did our LB corp is significantly better.

And he's not a small guy either. So he will add 5-8 lbs of weight as he naturally fills out as well.

Didn't Alonso have some off-field issues earlier in his career at Oregon? Burglary/trespassing, something like that?

Maybe by people living in the SEC states. NFLDraft Scout ranks him the 3rd ILB and a 3-4th rounder. Players from the Pac-12 are often underrated by easterners. Just look at how little love Wheaton and Poyer get, and how Rhodes is often mentioned ahead of Trufant around here.

Was hoping for a touch more on the bj and vertical, to be honest. More explosion.

Most people have Rhodes as the #2 CB in the draft over Trufant, so it shouldn't be unusual that most people here talk about him over Trufant.

Hmm, interesting question. To be honest I would do that yeah. Alonso seems more instinctive in traffic to be honest. More fluid athlete as well.

Thanks for answering. I think it's important for us to know because I really see Miami going after a true MLB in the draft to round out the linebacker unit.

I would say Trufant is better than Rhodes.

He's also very likely the pick at 12 or somewhere around 18 or so in a trade down.
