I just heard that this Monday 5/18, on Path to the Draft @ 6pm et, they will be focusing on Miami. Just a heads up if interested.
"what should Miami be focusing on" "well, ya see, they don't have a secondary. Like, at all." "ah, i see" "no, i mean like, reshad jones and thats it..."
Hit the nail on the head Citi. A great pickup would be Cyprien to pair with Reshad in the top of the 2R; well...or a CB lol.
Zone corners are typically easier to find than the more uber athletic man to man types. There will still be option available, and honestly I think we'll look to talk with just about anyone, which I believe has been mentioned. With the way FA has gone thus far, you can kind of see what they're trying to do to be honest.
Great point yes. I concur in that regard; elite corners regardless of scheme are seemingly not needed to win games, judging by recent performances(I still believe they have their place though). On both sides of the ball for that matter. Good to see things shaping up. Look for us to take a look at Adam Jones/Pacman once the dust settles. ABSOLUTELY, I concur. I watched a bit of film after hearing about him at the Senior Bowl and wowzers.
I agree. I remember reading that Miami didn't press more last year because Sean Smith was the only cornerback they had that could play press coverage. So, they zoned more. Well, Sean Smith isn't a good zone corner. He doesn't transition well enough and doesn't read the ball well enough to be a zone corner. So, what happens. They let their press coverage guy walk. I had been thinking that Xavier Rhodes would be a target at one time, but I think that is lessened now. Rhodes is a press cover guy who may have similar problems as Sean Smith in zone coverage. Probably one of the better zone coverage guys in the draft may be Jordan Poyer from Oregon State.
Amerson from NC State would be a great pickup in the 3R (has a shot at going late 2R, though doubtful due to his Senior year flop) for a zone scheme (I honestly think he could develop into a press corner as well due to his length ala Nnamdi). I can assure you of one thing, on Monday you will have Warren Sapp and friends tearing into us about how you cannot win championships by spending in FA.
