we shouldn't just be content with Wallace, Hartline, and Bess. as much as i like the guy i don't know if i see Bess in the long term plans. and with his new contract I could us moving on from Hartline after a couple years.

nowadays it's all about getting as many weapons as possible. Seattle wasn't content with just Rice, Baldwin, McCoy and Lynch, they traded away a 1st rounder and then some for a dynamic playmaker in Harvin.

Niners had Davis, Crabtree, Manningham, Walker, Moss, and Gore last year and they still used their 1st rounder on a receiver. they'll lose Walker and Moss this offseason but AJ Jenkins and LaMichael James are 2 explosive players that will have larger roles in the offense this year...and yet even with all those guys they STILL traded for Boldin.

Brady had Gronk, Hernandez, Welker, & Lloyd last year. They replace Welker with Amendola and now they'll probably target a WR pretty high to replace Lloyd.

Packers had FOUR stud receivers last year, as well as Finley.

Colts had Wayne, Hilton, Avery, Fleener and Dwayne Allen.

    and on and on...

so the question becomes...which WR would you prefer to take in the 1st? To me this is an easy decision.

Patterson is the best offensive skill position player in the draft. he's a potential superstar, something this draft is devoid of. now both Austin and Patterson are versatile, the more you can do the better, but unlike Austin, CP can play outside and inside. Tavon's size will always prevent him from ever being a #1 WR at this level, and that's what I want if I take a WR this early in the draft. also with his small frame durability questions arise. you look back at the last decade, all the WRs taken this high in the draft shared one thing in common...size. they were all big, Andre, Calvin, Julio, AJ Green, Fitz, Roy Williams, Michael Floyd, even the guys that didn't pan out like Michael Clayton, Reggie Williams, Charles Rogers, Heyward Bey, Braylon Edwards, Mike Williams. the shortest were Troy Williamson, Blackmon, and Crabtree and they were all 6-1.

another thing is where are our red zone threats right now? certainly not Bess or Hartline. Wallace isn't the ideal red zone threat either. we missed out on Jared Cook. we need size and leaping ability, and that's what Cordarrelle can bring to the table, along with great shiftiness and quickness.

Austin's start/stop ability and acceleration is amazing. but so is Patterson's for his size.

I'd like to believe that story about Ireland expressing his interest in CP to a fan in the parking lot after the Bills game but forgive me if i'm a bit skeptical lol

    so...who would you rather take?

Excellent poll. This is all that matters. A playmaker, and we will have a chance at one of em.

Can't go wrong with either one. But I imagine teams would be going nuts trying to cover both Wallace and Austin due to their insane speeds. CP is great too. Both are going to be stars. I voted for Austin but honestly Patterson would be just as fine.

You comfortable entering the season with egnew and clay as our TE's? I'm not.
if we find a TE, then give me either austin or patterson.

if i had my choice, it'd be patterson. both are a bit of reach at 12 though. our pick is very problematic.

Ertz is about as close a prospect to Eifert as you are going to get; better to draft Ertz or Eifert (if he falls) in the 2R and get a sliding Star Lotulelei ("heart condition) or Chance Warmack (now that TEN got their OG in Levitre). Top 5 talents at #12; this is what I call value!

I have a real tough time seeing why Tavon Austin over Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson moves exactly like Austin, is actually just as fast as Austin and I've verified that myself, and he's like 6 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier. No-brainer.

I voted Austin, because I see a complete football player superstar. It would pain me to no end to leave Patterson on the board and take Austin. But I'd have to roll like that.

To each their own, but that's nuts to me. If they moved significantly different that would be one thing. But Cordarrelle's ability to run with the football in his hands easily matches Tavon's. And he's just as fast on a pure speed basis. Yet he's like 6 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier and can pose a vertical threat to a defense more easily because of that height.

If by some act of God Cordarrelle is there at 12 Miami would be foolish not to take him. Looks like an absolute monster of a WR.

Read a tweet earlier that said that Tavon Austin hadnt missed a practice in his years in college and hasnt missed a game in 8 years. To me that is a tough player. With his talents opposite of Walalce we will dominate. I know in the past I said we should stay away from a wr at 12, but recently I have been thinking of Austin as a good pick at 12. Sure if we don't fill our CB needs in FAI much prefer a CB, but I would be ok with Austin

I don't think Ireland will select either on draft day. I think he'll look at other needs and wait until the 2nd round to pick a WR.

In any case, imo Patterson is the better player.

The man has it in his draft and still types this... And I agree. Cant see Austin at 12 ( and if the hype on this forum would carry Austin will go 1 which I cannot even begin to comprehend after watching tape). I vote Patterson. In a very bad comparison, Austin is Ted ginn jr as far as our dolphins are concerned. Patterson won't last to the 2nd. " Miami isn't getting either of them"

Do you expect Austin to go before 12? Or do you simply do not see Miami taking Austin if he is available? I see Patterson as likely gone before 12.

Not that I think your opinion is wrong, but is there any context behind it? Is it simply because we now have Wallace, we won't splash that position early and address other needs? Is there another position/player that you think will be specifically targeted?

I personally would love nothing more than Miami trading down with Minny to 23/25 and getting an extra pick/s. Use the extra pick/s to move from 2a into the first to drat 2/32 players in the draft. That could be quite a sweet deal, depending who's on the board.

So no way Patterson lasts? Come on. I count on u for enthusiasm.

On tape, I take Patterson any day of the week and twice on Saturdays only bcuz the phins play on Sundays. Don't think either one will go before 12. But Patterson, IMO, deserves to go before Austin. But y does common sense tell me it won't play out that way?

Why not though ? Better value on defense or OL? I'm pretty sure there will be. Philly signed Barwin, could that make it more likely they pass on Jordan, atleast causing a trickle down affect ? Ten signed levitre. I have a feeling we try like hell to trade up, back into the first for a stud like one of these two Wrs.... or a TE. But if the value player(s) that fall to #12 is a T,G,DT.. I would be happy with either cord or tavon there.

the question of whether Patterson will still be on the board at 12 is an interesting one but barring a trade up i think he'll be there....ultimately I look at it like this:

    Dion Jordan
    Geno Smith
    Fisher
    Lane Johnson
    Joeckel
    Dee Millner
    Jarvis Jones
    Ansah
    Floyd
    Star

    Warmack?
    Cooper?
    Richardson?
    Mingo?

now the first 10 guys i listed I'm about 80% sure each of them will be taken in the top 11. the other 4 have a chance too but I'm not as confident in those as I am the first set of guys...but if only one of those 4 are also taken in that range that means CP should fall.

I mean you just have to read the writing on the wall here. They've added Mike Wallace and they're trying to add Brandon Gibson. They're privately telling people they're envisioning 4-WR personnel sets with Wallace, Hartline, Gibson and Bess. They still like Rishard Matthews.

They're begging off this year's WRs class the same way they did last year's, when they didn't bother to take guys until the tail end of the draft when they knew it was a coin flip whether they get a guy that even makes the team (a team without very many good WRs, I might add). Is what it is.

As far as who might take Cordarrelle Patterson in the top 10, the team to keep an eye on is Cleveland at the 6th pick. Why?

Well, a couple of reasons. First, Mike Lombardi comes from the school of thought that places physical skills above the details at this point, and Cordarrelle is the most physically gifted receiver in this draft when you take into account his size, speed, and athleticism. Plus, Patterson would be an outstanding fit in Rob Chudzinski's and Norv Turner's Air Coryell offense. The pairing of Patterson and Gordon would be dynamite if Brandon Weeden figures things out.

The Bills and the Jets are also strong possibilities to take Patterson.

As talented as these cats are, if I had money, I'd bet without a doubt that neither Patterson nor Austin go before 12. I'm convinced Ireland won't bite. I'm not even convinced Ireland had a wr in mind after Wallace until u knuckle heads continued the discussion.

Honestly if we draft either guy at 12 well be big winners. Wr is still top priority for me over OL and DB. We can more than adequately fill the other gaps with our two second rounders.

Theres really no wrong answer here. Now, making it happen is another story whatsoever. ..
