The Texans are pleased to announce the signing of Erik Walden to the veteran's minimum. We like him as a depth 3-4 outside linebacker who has some starting experience.

    He is.

Unlike myself who talked the Bears GM off Donald Thomas and onto Chad Rinehart.......and then bid on Rinehart (well he is going for too cheap...I can't believe he only got a Chris Clemons deal in real life). I r evil.

I know it happens been doing this for a few years, but in the past there were guys that did it on purpose, they could have bid earlier but intentionally waited. so now it just pisses me off cause i cant tell intent.

Could limit it..especially on day 1 next year by making bids last 24 hours unless topped....signings 22 hours. I'm sure people could do the math.....................maybe. Would limit first day sniping somewhat.

Make bidding blind if you want to stop sniping.

I get annoyed at the last-minute or last-hour bids of the bare minimum. It's like they're not even making a play at a free agent, as much as they're just trying to be a dick.

Would it? We could set up an online form for people to place bids. Once the first bid on a player comes in, the auction will close after 72 hours. Still keep the 5-bid max.

There would be. But there would be a lot less sniping, and things would move a lot faster. I'm not complaining either way.

The ONLY way it'd work is if we did one player, per position, per day. Otherwise people wouldn't be able to adapt their plans which is a huge problem IMO.

You'd end up with second tier free agents making more money after teams missed their first targets. At least this setup somewhat mirrors real life.

Thats how it is in real life. There is no risk involved right now, and everyone has motivation to prolong the process.

If I had unlimited bids right now, there would be half as many FAs signed.
