And that we'd twist his arm and force him to take him. And if he really wanted Jennings you'd def think we could of easily paid for both.

Just seems like more garbage from the media to try to talk **** about our offseason. As uuuuuge

Long at 10 and Baker at 1, I still take Long.

Sorry but Baker is terrible. I know Long's play dropped off this year but c'mon Sam Baker?

Not when you know what Philbin actually wants in his receivers. That's what I've been saying. Study the offense in Green Bay. In no shape, way, or form does Mike Wallace fit what they do.

If seeing us sign him isn't enough to convince you they have a plan in place then there's not much I can say.

You make a good point. But Imo upgrading WR is more important than getting a new LG. And by most accts we'll be able to draft a pretty good OG at 12 if we feel like its a good idea. Wallace and Cooper vs Levitre and Goodwin so to speak.

Wallace makes sense on the field and off. Would you agree that getting fans excited and filling the stands on game days is somewhat important?

U young bro? Plan on living forever. Meteors are falling. What future are u waiting on- to have more cap room to make future splashes ull have beef regarding yet another distant future? Will Wallace live up to the paycheck? I've misplaced my magic 8 ball. I'll take whatever excitment/hope comes are way. The way things r lookin, I'll perish before the earth before the phins win another sbowl. Good luck with that future philosophy. I'm hoping on now and now, today? Feels pretty freagin good to be a dolphin fan. Even with a god-only-knows signing. Yeah. It's that bad so enjoy the good while its for the getting.

Thought process: Philbin coached Jennings, therefore Philbin must have wanted Jennings. Easy story. It's very simple.

    Is this verified?

Last year Ireland specifically said his job was to go and get the players Philbin wanted , so I would have see something substantial to make me believe Phibin wanted Jennings and Ireland vetoed that for Wallace.

Well, there's a sharp cut that you have to take to get to the desk. Hartline took the cut well, but lost his balance. Wallace missed the cut completely and took a round about way to the desk.

With Wallace you get NFL proven production, with Goodwin you get, what?? Clyde Gates 2.0?? Maaaaybe something similar to Wallace in a year or two....Call me an appeased casual fan and since it's a good football move too...well...

The thing is, it isn't a good football move unless you drastically change the system to fit him, and even then, he still won't be worth his contract.

Disagree. Speed kills. You need one speed demon in your receiver corps. Good not great signing based on individual talent. Great signing in terms of offensive weapons

I feel much better about this move than I ever felt about Marshall.
Sure it is a major pile of cash. Just might get some asses back. I see today as a team that is trying to win.
Thought the same about drafting Tannehill and putting him on the field as soon as possible.
We tried building inside out once and it failed. I smell a little desperation with Ireland as well as you do at this point.
The rub with that is we have some real good options in the draft now. It feels kinda good.

So, you make a guy the third highest paid receiver in football just because he has speed when you can get speed in the third round?

The guy is a great deep threat, but that is all he is. Yet he's being paid like he is one of the elite receivers in the game.

hmm is said 3rd rounder averaging 17.2 yards per catch for his career? No? Is it even likely any 3rd rounder would produce 17.2 YPC when thats one of the highest 4 year averages in league history? No. Compare apples to apples and give me a wr who would give me those numbers.

Well sure that is a given, but I was speaking to value. If you want the same skillset you, for example, roll with Goodwin and upgrade a few positions at the cost of what you paid one guy. There is a risk in everything you do, but you can 1) spend money wisely or 2) not spend money wisely and still reap the same benefits.

Lets just look at the FA heroes today and ask who is a contender/playoff team? Tenn is not. We are not...yet. etc etc etc. There is a common denominator with successful playoff teams, they largely build through the draft.

LOL, as I said in a previous comment: Wallace was a 3rd Rounder 4 years ago...So to answer your question, it is possible for a 3R to average 17.2 YPC over the course of four years. In the end it comes down to risk: 1) risk it on a pick or 2) risk it on a FA. History shows successful playoff teams choose the former and leverage risk with draft picks 8 times out of 10.
