Great start to the season, but we have some significant roster spots still needing to be filled or upgraded, and some which are NOT likely to be filled by rookies. We have no TE's to speak of as an example. Tremendous number of holes to fill on offense still. Obviously there is a fall back to not landing Cook. We still have plenty of ammunition and money to make some significant moves and this is far from over. I expect a couple more surprise cuts and/or re-structures. Some of these guys may already be on the roster, but with the various draft and FA speculation by many respected members of this board, these less than obvious positions could very well be in play as well. Here are most, if not all them below. Draft choices and free agents, fill in the blanks with your best guess:

    RB#2/3 -
    FB#1 -
    WR#3 -
    WR#4 -
    TE#1 -
    TE#2 -
    TE#3 -
    TE#4 -
    LOT/ROT -
    LG -
    RG -
    OL Swing -

    LDE -
    CB#1 -
    CB#2 -
    S#3 -

    K -

    let's be realistic.
-Clay is probably our #2 TE,
-D Thomas is probably our #2 RB
-Bess is our #3, R Mathews could be our #4 WR
-Marshall is hopefully only our #2 CB
-we don't need a kicker. Carpenter was really good the last 10 games of the season

I predict we either draft a TE in the 1st round or a CB like Rhodes.

I think we are done at Wr, think the market glut at T and Cb means we are in no rush to add anyone.

Te is just a tough call, what I'd like to see is Keller added, what I expect to happen is they draft someone.

Push comes to shove McKinnie is still out there, and likely to stay on the mkt for awhile, or JJerry moves to RT or even swing tackle and a RG/RT is added via FA/Draft.

Rb's are just not going to have huge paydays, so there is no rush on them either

Yeh....Heres how I see our WRs...

    Wallace
    Hartline
    Bess
    Mathews

I do however see us adding in the draft....wouldnt be suprised at all if we got Tavon Austin.

    TE's...

Charles Clay...and Im gonna take Irelands word on him and how he sees Egnew. Eifert...would be a huge get...as well.

I love Lamar Miller....and Im fine with Daniel Thomas as back #2....

I think Daniel Thomas is in a lot of roster trouble.

We improved the front 7, suspect they see Misi as a hybrid, Cb remains a question unless they feel Marshall/Patterson are sufficient BUT think Carrol/Wilson are also in roster trouble. Wilson makes more plays, Carrol is just okay.

Surprised we did not tender Bryann McCann, thought he did quite well last yr.

Also think maybe Thigpen is in trouble as they may look at Cribbs as a poor man's Harvin.

Also curious if they are interested in Lorenzo Alexander as Philbin seems to like ST's have guys who are really good at ST.

    Get off my lawn.
Does the lack of a Jake Long signing mean he's possibly getting smacked down to reality for a return to the dolphins? hmmm

Maybe he will come back to earth sign for what is a decent value for the team and stay healthy for a change.

I'm not being unrealistic to observe and suggest that :

    > Carpenter at 2.7M is at risk, and he was not money like in the prior two years.
    > We need at least 3 TE's, Clay will probably be permanently moved to H-back/FB. I dont see him lining up at TE very often. Egnew is a huge ?
    > We will need one more RB regardless of D Thomas' status.
    > Marshall and Patterson combine for over $8M in cap space, Patterson has no cap hit, there wil be some type of activity there. Marshall is also coming off of a serious injury and is no guarantee. We have no #1. Clemons at 1 yr, is a band aid until a rookie is ready to take over when they decided Woodson was too rich for their blood to do the same.
    > The OL needs a major infusion of players. Very few of these guys fit Philbins scheme. Incognito has a high net cap relief so he has to be in question as well. So does John Jerry ( a FA in 2013), I think over $5M savings betwen the two and neither are particularly suited to our zone blocking scheme. We know we need another starting tackle as well, as well as a swing reserve. Even if the two G's stay there are no reserve interior guys.

So do you see my point?????? Lots and lots of work yet to be done. Every position listed has question marks and moves that could be made. I am of the opinion that D. Bess may be traded. Others have pointed this out as well. He is a FA in 2013. I think this the year they take all of their cap hits and shed any player that doesn't fit the future plan of Philbin. Far from over. They sign Ellerbe and we think they are done at LB. 1 hr later they sign Wheeler. No one saw either of those moves coming ( well some did, not the majority of us). Anyway this is far from over and expect more of the unexpected and less and less of the status quo.

i think the only 'surprise' left in the bag would be to sign one of the prominent DEs .... 2 new LBs - both with potential to be better than their predecessors, just imagine if we can add a no kidding pass rusher to the fold. how much better does THAT make our front 7 ... it'll make us good enough for the DEFENSE to carry the OFFENSE for the next 3-5 years and buy Tannehill a couple of years to get comfortable and mature .... much like the - RAVENS and GIANTS (both SB winners).

we resigned Clemens, so it only leaves CB as a position of need -- and I'm pretty sure we'll sign at least 1 starting CB and leave the other to say ... Trufant in the late 1st/early 2nd.

I'm already really looking forward to seeing this DEFENSE this year!
