If Bucs complete that deal for Revis and manage to sign FS Goldson that will be a couple of pretty bold moves.

Ben Volin will probably be the next Dolphins beat writer to get a National Gig.
While we're still stuck with Dumb and Dumber.

    Cap tweet from Volin:
I was under the impression we were at more like $23M ... which means we'd be at around $12M-ish in cap space. If his numbers are correct then we're at around $19M

Desmond Bryant (Raiders DT) is apparently signing with Cleveland, so scratch him off any list you might have.

Appears as if last season was a year long tryout. Apparently some guys weren't taking it as seriously as they could. Philbin talked ad nauseum about being professional and going about your business like a professional. I guess we are seeing the results of that "tryout" in this offseason.

Big question about what is left. I expect a corner. I am actually ok with not signing one of the tight ends other than Myers or Davis. I want one of the big Es or Kelce. I also want Austin. Austin, one of the rookie tight ends, and Wallace open things up. I want at least two corners with the remaining money. I think you get a right tackle as well.

Nice to have younger LBs...but we still have big holes. Secondary, O-Line and TE spot is non-existant at this point. Hope we make a solid upgrade at one of those positions (or get Long back if the market for him recedes, which is possible)

Of course there is the draft, which is very important. We haven't had a great draft in what seems like ages though. Early 90s maybe? We shall see. What the Colts did with their draft in 2012 was outstanding, hope we can come at least close to it. They managed to get players who made an impact right away. They also have a solid system in place though, ours we know nothing about.

I didn't. I just want a solid CB, TE or OT now. We need some depth and we need both the draft and FA to fill in.

I'd be really surprised if we didn't sign a guy at one of those positions soon. Still plenty of talent out there.

overrated IMO, don't like him. I think he's a product of the system and players around him. Plus he is looking for big money.

No word about Greg Jennings at all? Wouldn't that be a surprise if we signed him for about what we had offered to Cook? Then just address TE in the draft a couple of times.

That'd be rather intense but where would that leave Hartline? #2, with Jennings in the slot and Bess shipped off?

  33. MrClean

    MrClean Inglourious Basterd Club Member

I guess so. The talk was if Cook were signed he'd have lined up mostly in the slot anyway, rather than tight.

That'd be a pretty piss poor waste of resources IMO. That'd be a 5 million dollar cost, but I don't think we'd be getting 5 million dollars in extra performance, to be honest.

I wouldn't oppose Jennings in the slot but would rather have Tavon there, myself.
Now Jennings, Wallace, and Tavon would've been a dream. So much for that.

well, I was kinda right about re-doing the linebacking corps..... just totally wrong in the approach as I was thinking more about via the draft. If Anthony Spencer weren't tendered we might currently be looking at 3 new linebackers. If Spencer was indeed a top target (whom Ireland drafted in 2007) I wonder if any attention has shifted to Barwin as a fallback option since Ireland seemingly had an interest in drafting Barwin in 2009.
