I don't mind Cook. Listed him as one of the FAs I wanted.

Looks like more and more to me that we will be targeting a CB with that pick @ # 12. Dee Millner if available or maybe the kid from FSU?

It's not like we're signing the over the hill gang here. Teams get into trouble in free agency not by simply engaging in free agency but by lavishing big contracts on players past their primes.

These guys (Wallace, Ellerbee, Cook) are not the types of players who typically make it to free agency. All are 27 or under and in their primes. All were wanted by their former teams but it hust couldn't happen for a variety of circumstances.

Jamie Dukes on NFL network just said he doesn't like what the Dolphins are doing today. He said, "I don't how you can sustain or build with the money they are spending...you need to spread the wealth around your team a little bit". He also said we overspent for Mike Wallace.

It's also been 2 1/2 hours, and we have 5 draft picks and possibly more depending who we are going to put on the block. Cap space will be regained one way or the other. This is somewhat of a youth movement, but these FA's are mostly proven.

It's a do or die off season for him and it looks like he is stepping up.

He's a changed man. In previous off seasons he would low ball FAs and it seemed like he never showed any love and never chased a recruit.

NOW he is a recruiter as well. He's EVOLVING from a glorified scout to a real GM using all his tools. He has changed his tune and is doing the chasing. He has realized he can no longer get the girl at the bar by standing against the wall. He has manned up, getting his balls out there and talking a good game. Sometimes getting the girl a beer isn't going to get it done and sometimes you gotta get the champange out.

I haven't quite started evaluating what he has done yet but at least he is making moves.

Hey now, can we not turn into 2012 Buffalo Bills fans? I still expect the Patriots to win this division until someone like the Dolphins can actually prove on the field that they can knock them off.

Ellerbe is a push as Dansby will likely be cut. Wallace was always a target and he won't be asked to do anything in Miami that he didn't show in Pittsburgh. It's not like asking Alvin Harper to be Michael Irvin.

With Cook gone, I think the heavy spending is over.

Keller is only good, had we kept Fasano.

So I say Finley..although I am not prepared to spend any real money on him.

Go in the draft....spend your FA dollars on something inspired, such as Felix Jones or Aqib Talib. Go get a buy low candidate.

With Cook to the Rams, and Bears getting a Tackle, 2 suitors for Long are gone. Maybe now his demands suffers enough that Dolphins can resign him to a cheaper deal.

In fact..we just cut Dansby. We not only got Ellerbe...but we add 3.75 million to our cap in savings. and 6.25 million in cash!

Ireland has done a smart job.

IIRC they thought they were getting an ascending all-pro. He didn't work out in TB as they took him away from his strength and tried to make him a different player.

So, $13 million a year is the value for a deep threat only guy? Because I would typically think when you give a player this much money, the thought process is that you are getting an ascending all pro.

I agree with this. Would love to see Aqib Talib here. Hurts the patsies too. One of the two stud TE's will be available at 12 in the draft.

Ireland doing good = Dolphins doing good.

Yes, this is a win for Ireland who besides Dansby a couple years back hasn't landed a big free agent in years. It shows a little hope that Miami is still a place where players want to come and play.

That's what I'm thinking. That 70% chance you posted in another thread is probably a lot closer to 85-90 right now.

If Miami can get themselves a flex tight end like they wanted with Jared Cook, we may just be seeing a full time spread in Miami coming down the pike.

For NBA CBA intricacies...I'm your man. I am just parroting what Scott Pioli said on NFL Network.

I think it has to do with saving bonus money that we won't have to pay.

So we just traded Dansby for Ellerbe AND Cap space and CASH. Genius.

If he gets back to 1100-1200 yards and 8-10 TDs, I don't think there'll be much complaining. Besides, when you look at how our offence basically couldn't crack a 100 yards redzone defence, more speed was desperately required.

Truth in that, FA can be an enhancement, but not a founation.

Adding Wallace was needed, for a host of reasons, some non football related.

Clemons was not a bad player, but not a game changing type and Ellerbe is just a fillin for Dansby.
