I am an advocate for signing Munnerlyn. One of my favorite targets in free agency.

I agree on both accounts. Wonder how much JA would cost. Would like him to replace Misi

Suprised panthers cut Anderson, he counts like 250k to the cap. Odd. A lot of panther fans up in arms right now.

wow, is all I can say..I always have this vision of how superior these GMs are in terms of mgt and organization, then every once in a while I get the reality that their human being very prone to making mistakes...it's just weird man..

The old man on that call is no longer a GM right?

Yup no real deals yet. Usually there is at least one or 2 by morning. I have a feeling the NFL might close that window next year ;p

Captain Munnerlyn allowed 238 yards on 43 attempts with 31 completions from the slot. A total of 274 snaps, 0 TDs and 1 INT. He played 267 snaps on the perimeter, allowed 297 yards on 44 attempts with 26 catches, 1 TD and 1 INT.

But I have people telling me over and over again he should only be a nickel corner...can't play the outside. I'm skeptical since this is one guy I haven't done film work on.

One thing is clear though, he can play the slot. From the slot he was 31 of 43 for 238 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT on 273 snaps. Those are excellent numbers. If the Dolphins add him he would be a replacement for Richard Marshall, who got bumped into a starting role they never really envisioned for him when they signed him. Munnerlyn would probably play the outside in base and the slot in nickel. Nolan Carroll would probably play the outside on nickel. Hopefully they would sign or draft another starter.

That is where I would play him. And add him to the return game. I look at a guy like Lewis as a starter, or Houston from Detroit.

My question is - if we were planning on bringing in FA CBs, why on earth have we not cut Marshall or Patterson yet?

Why the return game? Miami has a returner that did pretty well. Believe it's the first time in franchise history they had a guy return a punt and kickoff for a touchdown in the same season.

Free agent acquisitions aren't assured until they sign on the dotted line. They're not in a dire situation money-wise. They don't need the space. They can afford to keep hold of everyone until they have made all the moves they want to make.

No, I wouldn't get rid of Thigpen, but Munnerlyn did well in the return game for Carolina. He doesn't have to do that in Miami, but it is one of his skills.

Munnerlyn was a very goIn 2008, he was elevated to starting cornerback while also returning kicks and punts. Against Kentucky, he returned a kickoff 84 yards and a blocked field goal 81 yardsod special teams player, including in the return game. No, he doesnt have to do that in Miami, but it is a skill. He won the punt returner job last year in Carolina.

    I haven't really taken a big dive into Jared Cook's tape...until now.

I've seen Martellus Bennett. I've seen Dustin Keller. I like Bennett and I don't like Keller. Cook I'm in between. He has immense potential but a habit of not making good on it. There are a LOT of gray area drops that you don't see recorded by PFF. When you see a WR get his hands on the football but the DB mixes in and physically challenges him a little, if he doesn't come down with it, it's not quite as big a deal. You more wonder why he didn't create enough separation to make the catch clean. Wide receivers are only so big, they shouldn't necessarily be expected to be able to body in those challenged catches and the ones that do it consistently are at a premium. But a tight end is a different beast. They all run around 245 or 250 lbs at the least. They live and work in the middle of the field where spaces are tight by definition. Creating the separation needed for a clean catch in the middle of the field in the spaces where the tight end work is not always about athletic ability or route running. It's just a physical area of the football field. What I notice in Jared Cook is even though he's only got 5 drops on PFF, in reality there were a lot of drops that were right in his hands and a little bit of physicality from the defensive player may cause PFF to disqualify it but for a tight end I think it figures in. Just very inconsistent hands. Capable of adjusting to and making incredible catches, but you almost get the feeling he's going to drop 1 out of 3 balls that hit him. And the other problem with him is he has virtually no physicality after the catch. It really bothers me. You're a huge tight end, you should be able to make things happen physically. I liked how he played into physical contact after the catch on MAYBE 3 plays of his from the entire season.

I think Martellus Bennett is just a more desirable football player. He's also athletic as hell but his hands are more consistent in physically tight and challenging spaces, and he does a lot more physically after the catch. As I've said before, I would be onto him as a free agent.

I've watched some on Cook, agree on your concerns of a lack of physicality after the catch, poor drop habits on easy catches, frustrating payer to me, and I'm just not in favor of going after him, especially if its in the ball park that he has alluded to, no way..
