The issue here is that the perception of the need for speed is such that it makes fans willingly accept a very poor potential personnel decision because of that speed. Signing Mike Wallace to the kind of contract he is wanting is basically cutting your nose off to spite your face. It is a move the team will regret within 2 seasons.
BTW, I despise seeing Tannehill referred to as Hennehill. It is obtuse, simplistic, off base, and misguided to do so. Henne and Tannehill are both QBs who play or have played for the Dolphins. There is where the similarities end.
I really wanna go dig up those posts where you got so indignant when I first realized you were Toddphins. That was hilarious. You even had a couple buddies saying stuff like, "trust me, that isn't Toddphins". good times.
Why is it so important to you? Phinsational is a very valued member of the forum who posts very many well researched well thought out posts. Before he was here, the former member known as Todd also posted many excellent well researched posts. That is all that matters to me. I heart phinsational and before I heart Todd.
Not really that important. I'm just glad it's out there now and people aren't calling me crazy or accusing me of being on a witch hunt anymore for exposing the truth about ToddSational! Now all I want is for you and a couple of others to give me a pat on the back for my brilliant detective skills and I'll shut up about it.
Tannehill played in an offense that didn't have a number #1 wide receiver after the head coach said a #1 was not needed. Tannehill still made a #2 wide receiver a 1000 yard receiver even though they didn't have a very good running game. Tannehill is not a franchise quarterback yet but I believe his first year was pretty good considering the offense struggled everywhere and didn't really have a play maker except for maybe Reggie Bush. We will see how he does with better surrounding talent, if Ireland is able to acquire them.
That He needs to get quicker, and needs to be able to sense pressure faster, so he can get out of trouble and relocate his upper body and platform, to also become more of an on field leader..those are my expectations, for him to improve his own skillset, make it even more athletic, faster, not worried about accuracy, nor arm strength, nor that he can't work the middle of the field.
Every time I get the tiniest bit optimistic about this team, I get burned. I pray the kid is the answer but I fear the football gods will not allow it.
Todd was way better than "Phinsational". 2 different posters if you ask me, I could see it being 2 different genders infact...but how can we ever know for sure?
Didn't want to make a separate thread for this, but the Wallace deal is a striking similarity to the move made in Henne's 2nd year as starter. Huge contract given to WR to help the young QB. Let's hope it works better this go around. I keep telling myself Tannehill is a different guy, but that same dismal TD production and TD/INT ratio looms large.
Here a shocker! Playmakers help the QB! Henne never had any... Tanny has at least one now with signing of Wallace... So yes he will improve...
Brandon Marshall wasn't a play maker? I'm optimistic things will be different with Tannehill as well. But you have to admit, there are concerning similarities. The Wallace deal is so similar to what Miami was trying to do with Brandon Marshall. Get a young QB some help. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes getting better WRs doesn't improve decision making, hence doesn't improve TD/INT ratio, hence doesn't help wins/losses. Wallace should hopefully increase TD production. But will Wallace help that awful TD/INT ratio? Let's hope...
If Tannehill is in the running for a Pro Bowl spot at the end of the season.....any chance youll change your name to Hennehill?
Ok, awful is probably being too harsh. But the low TD production coupled with the < 1 TD/INT ratio was awful, IMO. I'm not saying Tannehill as a whole looked awful. He did some great things in his rookie career. I just don't think he'll ever make it if he can't produce a TD/INT ratio > 1 and I'm just really hoping Wallace can help improve that where Brandon Marshall couldn't help Henne.
Getting Brandon Marshall didn't work out for Chad Henne but I feel differently about Mike Wallace and Ryan Tannehill. The excuses for Tannehill are limited at this point. Especially if we end up getting a playmaking tight end and shoring up the O-Line. No excuses for him not to improve at this point.
