Sure if you want a soft guy who plays a few games....fakes an injury and milks it for the year....he's your steal ;p Guy has burned every team that took a chance on him going right back to college. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/jan/04/acee-jared-gaither-return/
Why? Teams don't openly bid up piece by piece in the real world. Players would ultimately receive overall positional league value.
Right. Koch isn't much of a downgrade and punter shouldn't be a position you invest nearly $2M into in the GML.
hahahaj I was gonna bid on him yesterday cause I saw how cheap he was goin for til I researched him and came up with that. noooooo thanks
Most naive statement in the world. Agents most surely do get teams to bid up. Not in these increments..but once a guy narrows down a few teams that will pay..they will play em off each other. Your idea is much farther away from that ideal then what's going on currently. Also Die_Nasty...why get so worked up over Crosby. Cheaper/better options out there. PFF ratings: Crosby 26th Kicker Akers: 9th Kicker Suisham: 11th Kicker (10 min left on him) Matt Prater: #2 (He's up in about 6 hours) Edit: Maybe what your looking for is a bigger increment to raise a bid. Honestly it's not needed. If people had balls in their bids you wouldn't be caught in piecemeal jackups.
So why put balls in your bid and take a player for 3 mil, when alternatively you could play time out and pick him up for 1.5 mil instead. If you want balls, then do blind bidding and put your most reasonable offer out front.
Talent don't mean anything if you can't get on the field. He's a top 12 talent at tackle for sure but 6, 16, 11, 0, 10, 5, 4 are the important #'s. The games he's played per season. Last time he played enough to qualify for PFF he was the 27th tackle. Now on top of that his own teammates won't back him up. I will say though...I'd LOVE to see the fireworks between Gaither and Shanahan. Probably only #2 to wanting to see Saban vs Gaither lol
Instead we'd have teams full of drastic overpays and drastic underpays. Seriously I wouldn't even participate in that system. I'd hoard draft picks and avoid FA with a passion. Stop putting out such crappy bids to start and put out a real bid and it scares people off or it makes for a real quick escalation finish. I got WR Josh Morgan for $1.5 million. Sure he's crap...but considering people are bidding up guys with 200 yards...I got a 500+ yard WR for half their costs cause I came out hard right off the bat.
Everyone *****es and grypes about the system, and how last minute bids piss people off... and small increments piss people off. But it's just playing the system to get the best deal for a player. How many people left a deal on the table for a FA just because they got pissed off at Stitches. or missed a timeline because of a 100k increment on a player that they missed. Just throwing out random scenerios. I honestly could care less for either way it goes... 9/10 I'm the pisser, not the pissee. Blind bidding, you don't get a player you targeted, you have no one to ***** at but yourself.
Not really.... divy it up like the real FA. Given it'd be a trust issue. Just have the thread owners have you CCd in the PM bid if there are any complaints.
There's drastically overpaid and underpaid players in the system now? I wasn't going after your bionic receiver with my 1.5 mil comment haha just a coincidence.
Agree to disagree. I would outright not play such a bad system and it's much farther away from the real system. I could see it now...Levitre...$20 million by some team with major cap room just to make sure they would outbid everyone. Horrible horrible horrible.
And that same player wouldn't do the same thing in the system now if that was the way they were thinking?
Of course not. Because if the last 2 guys in competition bids $9.5 million and he bids $10..that's it. The only difference between that and real life is we can't bribe em with 0 state taxes, a fancy stadium and nice weather ;p Plus all the nice fat cat FA's who go for 550k because they were the only one who bid on said person while everyone else was bidding on the same 20 guys ;p
A blind system also likely drastically speeds up FA. So there's more dead time then. I rather you people ***** about offers than dead time, at least you're distracted.
Exactly. And Mach's the kinda guy who would PM and rub it in your face if you paid $12 million for a guy whose next high bid was $3 million ;p No such thing as blind around here lol
I ummm...rebuilt my special teams with FA ;p I'm just filling out depth and specials teams for the most part with the cut list. Happy I got myself a nice road grading TE to pair with my 2 receiving TE's. Picked up 5 guys (backup QB/Run Blocking TE, P, K and depth WR)..spent maybe $4 million.
Vikings Sign Ijalana; Restructure Webb & Loeffler The Minnesota Vikings came to terms with free agent guard Ben Ijalana, while also restructuring the contracts of backup quarterback Joe Webb and special teams player Cullen Loeffler. Ijalana, a second round draft pick in 2011, has struggled to get on the field in each of the last two seasons, but word is the Vikings were intrigued enough to at least give him a shot. If healthy, Ijalana could end up in the starting lineup. Webb is not expected to start, but will remain the primary backup to incumbent starter Christian Ponder, while Loeffler will retain his duties as long snapper for the team.
I was gonna try and release romo to sign him to a cheaper price...but uhhh, think I just mite keep him if this Vick-off gets crazy
And the Chargers would like to announce the signing of LB D.J. Williams. pairing with Donald Butler it looks to be the making of a the best ilb combo in the afc P.s. Any interest in takeo spikes 3.7...if not he's cut
The worst part is that he released him as soon as it came out that everyone has an extra 3mil in cap space lol that's gonna be interesting
