Mike Clay @MikeClayNFL Have to question Dez Bryant's decision to have a name similar to a player that got arrested. Can't put yourself in that position.
Omar Kelly is such a hack. Hahahah this is tasty. The guy can't even get viable sources in his own town that he reports in!!!! How bad is that? http://m.thebiglead.com/bigleadspor...ng-despite-what-omar,512a391fd7fc7b5670442357
Lmfao. Only Omar Kelly would report something like that. Still can't believe they fired Mike Beradino and kept him. Barry Jackson and Volin are the only ones worth reading. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 via Tapatalk 2
I don't get why people are bagging on him about this. He said he was wrong and apologized (according to PFT) so what more do people really want for him to do? It seems like a pretty easy mistake to have made when the corrections website has Desmond Bryant listed at 6'5", 220 lb. I don't know if they had a picture up when Kelly reported it but I don't see why everyone is making a huge deal about it. Dez (whose real name is Desmond) Bryant is 6'2" and 220lb while Desmond Brant is 6'6" and 310lb; you'd think that the corrections website would be more likely to be off by 3 inches in height than 90 pounds in weight. I'm sure people will hate on me because the "cool thing" to do here is bash Kelly all the time anyway.
Because, like he always does, he was reporting something as fact, before it was an actual fact. He is a ****ing clown. He had to be first, and ended up looking like a fool. If he would've came out and said "Wow, just found out an nfl player was arrested in Miami, waiting on word on who it actually was, but it seems to be Dez Bryant" Instead of "Dez Bryant was arrested in miami!!!!" It wouldnt be as bad.
He means as long as tools from this fanbase are still linking his **** on here for him to get hits on twitter or on his blog, he will keep his job.
He apologized though... He said he was wrong... **** happens, man. People **** up at work, don't tell me you never do. I understand the hate for him due to his history but I find bagging on him for this particular event to be pointless.
If this was his only black eye, I'd agree. The guy is a douche, and bombs anyone who disagrees with, calls him out, or brings up a point that is different than his. He deserves any hate he gets. He's earned it.
To each their own. I'm not going to agree with that simply because if you read the comment section on any news article that allows them you'll see the type of people he deals with on a daily basis. It'd take some thick skin to work in a journalism field when you're talking about a professional team that has very passionate fans (this is any NFL team for that matter) so I can understand why he would be quick to disagree with many people. When you start to see death threats to players on Twitter, you realize how ****ed up the world is. Kelly may not receive death threats on Twitter but I can only assume he is dealing with the same type of personalities online on a regular basis.
Remember the time when Omar tweeted something to the effect of "Big Announcement Coming Up Later This Afternoon" Only to release the story about Brandon Marshall and his "disease"? It wouldn't have been so bad except the timing was right around the start of training camp in 2011 and that was when the league's offseason (free agency) took place seven days before the start of camp (due to the lockout).
He wasn't assigned to be a sportswriter by the government or anything...he chose it. He's wrong a lot. A whole lot, but that's not him making mistakes at his job, because his only job is to get viewers. That's it, that's all he is supposed to do. Being frequently wrong, like he is, is not a problem for his bosses because it probably brings in even more clicks. There's no nobility in this. The one caveat I will afford to Omar is that I think he believes what he writes. I think he truly believed Naanee was an excellent receiver. That level of ineptitude defended by an ego built on clicks is the reason he gets the venom he does. On the other hand, you have an Armando, who has no illusions to how to get viewers and will purposely create stories to drum up viewers. He to me is worse than Omar, simply because he knows what he's doing, while Kelly seriously has no clue.
