    Well away from here

Well from what I've heard nothing could be further from the truth. The Dolphins do have one guy they'd really like to get, but it isn't Mike Wallace. Its someone who has been mentioned by maybe one or two people on this board and thats about it. Again this is just what I have been told, but I'd believe my guy over Omar, but that's just me.

I believe that. I think KB has made a good case that Wallace isn't really a fit for this offense so it would seem odd that Miami would have him as the #1 target.

Wallace should be the top target.

He has physical attributes that simply can't be taught. Teach him the routes you want him to run. I've seen no evidence that he's either a moron or a slacker, which leads me to believe he can learn what you want him to do.

And I'm tired of eharing about this "system" nonsense. If your system can't make use of Mike Wallace and that speed and natural ability then you have a crappy system.

Without giving too much away, is that target a receiver? Or some other position?

I wouldn't be upset with Wallace, but I've got a fair amount of misgivings about him. But if they're willing to alter the offense, I think it can turn out well.

You have a link for that?

Perhaps it's true but I have never heard that, and I have several friends who are Steeler fans who have nothing negative to say about the guy other than he mildly violated the "Steeler way" by holding out, which very few Steelers have ever done.

    Not at all.

The best coaching in any sport means putting the players you have into the best possible position to succeed regardless of what your preferred system is.

Mike Wallace has physical attributes that cannot be taught. He has also been a productive receiver. If you cannot take that guy and use what he does well and he teach him other things to do in your system then you are a poor coach. Now if the guy just won't listen, doesn;t care, or is a moron, maybe that's a different story.

Take a look at the Lakers for the perfect example. Mike D'antoni is so wedded to his system that he somehow could not figure out a way for Dwight Howard/Gasol/Kobe and Steve Nash to play together. He's a horrible coach. Most any other coach given that roster would either junk their system, or figure out a way to mold it to what the players they have do best.

Patriots are another example. They really have no system other than "use whatever you have to the maximum of their abilities". Whent hey had a strong running game they ran it, when they had Moss/Welker they focused on thsoe guys, now their WRs are not as good so they got TEs and now feature them.

    Will you reveal the player?

Jennings and Walalce are no secret, and there are no other free agent WRs that are that interesting so it must be a trade.

Dead on. Imagine if Shula told Griese to make the sky black with footballs, or told Marino to keep pounding the rock.

Same difference. If Joe Philbin can't make use of Mike Wallace then that is a problem, either with him, or his sytem.

Totally agreed. D'Antoni was handed players that he did not choose, and then... b/c hes a terrible coach... is forcing those players to fit his system vs. fitting his system to the strengths of the players.

But theres 1 key difference here... Mike Wallace isnt on our team yet. So, why change your system for a player you dont even have? Why not just acquire players that fit your system and offensive philosophies? If Mike Wallace doesnt fit the system, but Ireland goes and gets him anyway... the coaches better change things to maximize Wallace's abilities. But we're better off acquiring players that do fit the system and avoiding having to do that...

Shula is a great example and his changing of styles to suit Marino was a big reason why he was a great coach.

What Shula let Marino do was the complete opposite of everything Shula had ever known or learned about football. Yet, he was a good enough coach to realize what he had and maximize his abilities. Shula's system udner AMrino was far ahead of its time and if we were able to trannsport the 84-86 teams to today, with the current rules, we would have won the super Bowl at least once.

Pleasssseeeee, some of you are acting like Wallace is not a top NFL free agent. He fill a role that is much needed, he can make plays & stretch the field. Plus he is still young at just 25, I hope and pray he is on our short list of FA.

I disagree for one reason, Wallce IMO is the better player. And I want the better player. This is nothing against Jennings but Wallace is better than him. I'm not counting on Philbin being here forever. Just give me the best players.

I agree, but what I'm suggesting is that adherence to your system is not a reason to decide not to sign Mike Wallace.

If he picks someplace else, or he wants way too much money that's one thing. But to say, "We're not interested in Mike Walalce because of our system", that to me is stupid.

Vague enough that if something happens this guy gets credit because he'll make sure we know it, and if it doesn't we all forget about this post.

Dude if you have information give it out, if not keep the trap shut. 126 you're nothing but an attention whore with a post like this. No one knows who you are (with the exception of a few people perhaps in the boards admin & a few others) so if the info you have is good and it gets back to the Dolphins how do they know it was you that gave it out - they won't because you aren't the only one that will know this info. It could be anyone.....your name here affords you anonimity, yet you just drop enough to tease. Bad form bro.

Mike Wallace is a one trick pony. Him not fitting a system doesn't make the system bad. Wallace would have to be the greatest receiver ever for your statement to begin to make sense.

Here, KB posted this in the draft forum.

    http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?74834-Article-discussing-the-Green-Bay-Packers-receivers-and-route-tree

It explains the Packer philosophy on WRs. They are proven to be successful. You simply cannot argue it.
