no. it's those three. Wade is right now, the second best or best SG in the NBA. his next 4 years will still have him be pretty effective. the Miller and UD contracts are unclear. On hoopshype, who is best on salary issues, they have it as a player option as well. There is scuttlebutt at least that they have an understanding with Miller. UD won't likely pick up that option if he is still rebounding at the same rate he is now.
What would the salaries on the new extensions look like? I can't find what sort of totals they are each eligible for. I know it varies based on years in the league, etc.
very similar to current levels. the luxury tax burden won't be much really. Heat don;t approach 100 mil anyway.
This is just .... AWESOME. I would love to be tackled by lebron any day.... .... No homo.
Liked the energy Anderson showed even though he only played the last few minutes. He was boxing out hard, setting nice screens and going after the ball with authority. You could see he wanted to be playing basketball and that he wants meaningful minutes.
Especially after Rondo tore his acl. Say it with me now: lottery pick. I know heat, knicks and sixers fans aren't upset about this. I feel bad for rondo cause hes a really good player but I hate the Celtics almost as much as the Heat.
Carmelo just destroyed the Hawks tonight almost single-handedly. 41 on 15-28/9-12 from 3. My only complaint is that the knicks only won by two and he only got to the line 2x. Amare had his best game with 18 and 8 and it was an efficient 18 on 6-9/6-6 from the stripe. Kidd barely played...not sure if that's cause of his back.
Injuries suck but I don't feel one bit bad for him. He's a great player but one of the biggest idiots in sports today.
He didn't get to the line because he hangs 10 feet out from the 3 point line most of the time! His teamates run around until Melo gets forgot then he steps up and has a wide open 3....
When youre hitting 43% of youre 3's on the year thats not a bad spot to hang out. Thats what he was hitting before I went away for a week. Havent really been able to keep tabs the last week. Im sure the 9-12 tonight didnt hurt his 3 point %. It also doesnt hurt that PF's cant guard him out there and it becomes a wide open shot frequently because PF's are just used to collapsing down low and defending the post (the few post players left anyway). But for a guy who typically gets to the line a ton in his career (typically just below LBJ and Durant territory) his foul shots are way down. You can attribute that to games like tonight where Josh Smith tries to step out and guard him (and cant) but even when he slides to the 3 it seems to be a pretty consistent thing nowadays.
What I've seen is that they've ran a lot of plays to create more open space for Melo. Not every play but they seem to be letting the other 4 players do most of the running against certain teams. Having Melo stay near the 3 point line or to the right of the key. It keeps him fresh and lets him get back easily on defense. Pretty smart if you ask me.
I think the hate is more or less gone. There are still a few crazies here in Cleveland that say stuff for attention - but for the most part people, even here, don't pretend he is a terrible person anymore.
Cool Story Bro. Thibs is running his guys in to the ground, again. Noah and Deng are averaging, what? 40 mins a game would be my guess. It will bite them in the playoffs, again.
Is one star better then two? You be the judge.... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323375204578269860170155862.html
the lineup data is clear. Melo at PF = Knicks are a very good team. Melo at SF w/ Stoudemire = Hello 1st round exit as a 4th seed.
I hate Rudy Gay to partner with Melo. Kills spacing. You need a spot up 3 pt. shooter/defensive specialist. A Gerald Wallace type...or even a Danny Granger if he shakes loose. Gay would make a mess of that team. Neither guy can initiate a P&R. back to square one, an offense with everybody standing around taking turns.
Wallace isnt the player he was...batum would be good. Granger is slowing down already and the shooting % keeps falling. Hes a good player but id take Gay or Batum over him. Youre probably right about Rudy which sucks since hes one of my (non-knick) faves since hes been at U Conn. Im still rooting for Dallas to lose because I think Dirk fits perfectly.
FYI, rotoworld has Toronto as a destination for Gay if they can find someone to take on Calderon's contract.
I think you can kiss Batum goodbye. The guy is playing himself into a monster contract. Dirk...I doubt that he shakes loose. You know who I like for the Knicks? Tyreke Evans. and he is available. I would raise an eyebrow if you got him.
I seriously doubt Sacramento is going to be making any moves by the trade deadline. Too much uncertainty about who is in charge moving forward, or where they will even be located. I mean, technically, Hannsen and Balmer own the team, they have a signed purchase agreement, but they won't officially be approved until April and I suppose somebody could do something to screw that process up even further. Long story short, the Kings are just in a state of flux.
Per Woj/Berger, et. al. Memphis trades Rudy Gay and Hammad Haddadi (love that name) to Toronto for Calderon and Ed Davis. Memphis likely to flip Calderon to 3rd team with speculation heaviest on Detroit (for Tayshaun Prince) and Dallas (for Chris Kaman's expiring carcas, err contract) Love the trade for Toronto. They simply cannot acquire a player of Gay's caliber through free agency. Now they have three years to convince him to stay. Don't understand the trade at all for Memphis as they had already salary dumped to get under the tax. I've never seen a semi-legitimate contender voluntarily disarm like this in the middle of a season.
Yeah, it's odd to see a team, a decent team at that to pull a plug on the season like that. They are what, 4th, 5th in the West? I know the race over there is close but damn...This is odd as hell.
I like Evans but Im not sure where he fits on this team when you have 2 combo 2 guards already (shumpert and smith) and you need a SF if Anthony is going to be the 4. None of those guys (Smith/Shumpert/Evans) is really a full time 3. And you cant trade Shumpert because hes the best perimeter defender the Knicks have and Smith is Melo's boy so Im sure he wouldnt love that (though if the knicks were to make the deal Id rather trade Smith then Shump)
Lol Dr. Finyank said this would happen a few pages back. Get the surgery Dwight you aren't fooling anybody.
Woj must need page hits. He somehow manages to make his Rudy Gay trade column all about LeBron, witht he obligatory at this point "close associates of James inner circle want him to return to Cleveland" nonsense. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--r...5zBHRlc3QDR3JhbmRzbGFtX09uX0ludGVybmFs;_ylv=3
It's the same stories from two years ago, that LeBron was chaffing from Riley's "rules". I'm not naive and I understand anything can happen, but Woj was consistently wrong in his reporting in the run up to Decision 2010, to the point that two days before the Decision, when Broussard had already confirmed LBJ was coming to the Heat, Woj was still reporting that LBJ would return to Cleveland. LeBron makes his own decisions and while I am sure somebody from the company is feeding Woj info, I doubt it has anything to do with LeBron's personal feelings at this point. Plus, Woj is just completely wrong that the Super Team era is over. All the new CBA did was make it slightly tougher to build a supporting cast, but unintentionally, by lowering the mid-level exception and not allowing tax teams to use it consecutive years, it just made a lot of guys who would be exception players, minimum, or slightly above minimum players. The Heat can easily rebuild around the Big 3, Chalmers and Cole.
It'll be interesting to see what happens in 2014. I'm not completely sold the Big 3 stay together in Miami - thought it could very well happen. But to your point - speculating now on what will happen then seems silly. So much changes in a year and a half in the NBA that pretending LeBron has already decided he is returning to Cleveland is silly. I thoroughly enjoy how the current narrative around Cleveland is that they need to improve right now or Kyrie is leaving! While also pushing the idea that LeBron is for sure going to Cleveland! Make up your mind - either the Cavs are so terrible that Kyrie is going to turn down the super-max rookie extension that has never been turned down just to leave - or they're in a good enough spot that the greatest player in the world wants to come play there. Pushing both of those stories is a joke.
