For those that don't feel like looking:

    R1: WR Keenan Allen, California
R2: CB David Amerson, North Carolina State
    R2: DE Datone Jones, UCLA
    R3: DT Kawann Short, Purdue
    R3: TE Joseph Fauria, UCLA
R4: RB Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina
    R5: DE Craig Roh, Michigan

All in all not a terrible haul of picks though in general I disagree heavily with several of their evaluations throughout the mock. David Amerson in the 2nd round is not happening for Miami. And I threw up a little when I saw Craig Roh in the 5th round. Betwene the rest of the 5th round picks and all of the 6th round picks, probably 2 out of every 3 of the guys they have going below Miami's pick in the 5th round would be more attractive than Craig Roh, IMO.

Jest pick is interesting to me, they are hip deep in Butt Fumble, they have arguably less talent on offense than we have, and they go DT?

Why wouldn't they take Keenan Allen?

And Te'o at #5? Doubt it, I think they take Star L, but I also suspect the top 15 are beginning to take shape it is down more or less to draft order not identifying the talent.

I've always thought Rex Ryan is going to be unfairly fired because of Mark Sanchez. But now with the whole tattoo thing and his irrationally sticking by Sanchez' side (which was reiterated very recently when he gave another vote of confidence in Sanchez while admitting there would be "competition" for the starting job), I'm starting to think Ryan just has this strange affinity for the guy and can't bring himself to be objective about the position. And for that, he probably should be fired. They're also continuing to make strange coaching hires, like David Lee as the quarterbacks coach. That's not working, for me.

But to the point you were making about Star Lotulelei...if their goal is "competition" for Sanchez and not outright replacement, then that pick makes as much sense as any I guess. Although I would think with the presence of Wilkerson and Kenrick Ellis they would not tend toward that position. Yet, Lotulelei is probably a value pick in the Draftek models.

The way I see it, Sanchez is in a similar situation as Henne was going into 2011, only he has a larger and longer contract to deal with, meaning he will start at Qb.

BUT, being in cap hell, their only real option to "help" Sanchez is the draft, a DT or Cb is not going to help him, maybe a passrusher would help the team, a DE, but still have to think Ryan has to have confidence that he can scheme to manage that situation.

Now what happens if the Bills lose Jarious Byrd in FA? That Safety makes more sense for them, and Fitzpatrick is pretty much their only Qb option and if they lose a Guard in FA that would be a later rd pick.

I'm not a big Matt Barkley fan, but I think that the Jets should be looking in his direction. The Jets need a game manager, at least a QB who isn't going to repeatedly do five stupid things a game that cumulatively will ruin their season. I'd look at Tyler Wilson as well, and I'd almost feel sorry for them if they drafted Landry Jones to replace Barkley. That would just be horrendous imo. Out of the flame and into the frying pan, if that's how the saying goes.

Right now I have the Jets taking Tyler Wilson after the Bills take Matt Barkley.

I think Tyler Wilson is going to come out of the Senior Bowl regarded as having been the best quarterback there. I think there is a shoe yet to drop on Matt Barkley as far as teams signaling what they think of him, and his draft stock is going to be bolstered when the coaching staffs start coming into the process.

I could see the Cards taking Barkley too. IMO, if the Chiefs were smart, they should take him 1st.

Can you imagine the time you wasted putting together a six round mock draft before free agency?

Yeah, it really is mind boggling. I understand people want content and websites need hits for money but these mocks aren't really supposed to be taken seriously I don't think.

I agree. The time to begin to take them seriously is after April Fools Day, IMO.

I could live with Allen. I think he's a good, safe pick that would help the passing game right away. Not my top choice, but I could live with it. Don't know much about Amerson, but there are guys I like much better there. With who's available I wouldn't mind seeing them take Terrence Williams there. Yes, that's 2 WRs with your first two picks, but I don't think you draft Allen if you've signed a big WR FA, so taking a guy who I think is a very good fit in the WCO then a burner like Williams could settle the WR position in the short term as well as long.

Talented guy that is lazy according to a teammate I spoke with at Cal. WOuld much rather have Patterson if they go WR in the 1st (and I know he is a reach there)

Well, the lazy thing is something you'd have to find out as a staff, but I see a guy who's NFL ready, runs good routes, is physical, can get deep even though he's not a burner, is physical, and catches the ball well. He doesn't have the upside of Patterson, and I would probably rather him as well, but I still think Allen is a safer pick that would be a safer bet to contribute early.

I look more at resource allocation than anything with these early mocks, with player eval. still very much in limbo. That said, I question going DE/DT with 2 of our top 5 picks. I guess you can justify that if you're working under the assumption that Long, Smith and either Hartline or Jennings are signed during FA while Starks walks but IMO thats not super likely, and even if that did happen I would still grab another wideout over a DT.
