IDK, I like Jake but I fear he is going to be another Boseli. IDK how a GM could justify giving anything other then a incentive based contract.

With Long the Jet's would have a $199 million offensive line

    Ferguson...$73.6 million
    Mangold....$50 million
    Long.........$45 million ...at least
    Moore.......$16 million
    Smith.......$14.4 million

    It depends.

Sometimes he's used as an intentional leak and sometimes, he flat out makes stuff up but structures his statements in a way its ok. I call it JasonCole-ing.

    So long Jake.

  6. Nobody really knows the truth of whats being offered behind the scenes but If it comes out that Miami offered him 6-7 million and he walked I would understand why they would not go any higher. My oppinon is that any higher of an offer to him is a reach and I really have a hard time seeing any team offering him more then 7-8 million at the most. I am curious how much Long is asking for and how much Ireland is offering.

Im not so sure it's a hole. I really don't believe LT is a high impact position these days the way teams disguise blitzes and move lineman around to create matchups. I couldn't even tell Jake wasn't on the field when he was injured. There was absolutely no drop off in performance.

If Long's market is at $8M and Ireland low balls at $6M, I wouldn't be happy if Long walks. Who's to say Long is asking for $10M? Info is being leaked from the FO to drive players prices down. Truth is we DO NOT know what Long is asking and everyone's speculating Long wants an elite level contract. It's likely they'll meet somewhere in the middle although Ireland usually tries to get FAs at a discount and the only FAs he gets no one wants. This year he better redeem himself and pay market value.

Market value? Let Long test it. Then walk.
He gets beat by speed rushers, always has.

    Demarcus Ware disagrees with you.

  11. What do you think his market value is?

Uhhh...I think there are a few DEs and LBers out there that'll disagree with you... When healthy, he's just about the best out there...

Now....does he fit the mold that Philbin wants in his OL ?? That's another question.... While we apparently have the cash and cap room to sign him, even if that figure is at the top of the LT scale, but is that what Philbin really wants ?? I do question that...

There were a lot more holes in 2008.... that's for sure. So im not seeing how more were created since he got here. Tuna Inc. (Ireland) inherited the least talented team in the league just a handful of years ago. He traded away Marshall and Davis ( his own players ) and some people think the franchised sold its soul when we gave up on those idiots. Nobody cares that Philbin and Co. were even more responsible for moving them. We're still diggin out of the hole Wannstedt, Saban, Cam dug......... there's nothing to show on this team from their work. It was like Tuna inc came in to work on the lions or better yet.... an expansion team. How quickly we forget, and look to assign blame to whomever is available, whatever is convenient. There's a cycle that should be stopped. The people who cried for Orton, rioted when we didnt throw money at Flynn.... they're out there... bashing the GM about god knows what now. Feel free to join them.

There is a quote from a Dolphins source on one of Armondos blogs that saddens me about Long http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...arly-five-months-now-and-while-the-talks.html

"He's one of those guys that likes the idea of being the best at what he does and one way he proves to everyone that he is is by being the highest paid at what he does," one Dolphins source told me recently. "Yeah, there's a considerable amount of professional ego there."

IMO this quote sums up the teams stance on Long. It seems the team sees him as partially defining how good he is by what he makes not but what he does. If that is true i would just walk away from him if he doesnt take a incentive heavy contract. How many times to do you hear prove your worth on the field. I would be extremely surprised if he returns to us next season.
