Can't link from my phone but Jets in salary dump mode. Apparently Woody Johnson has instructed Idzik to trade Revis before his contract voids at the end of the season. Now this is a player you use your "chips" on. Revis only counts for $6 million this year, less than what Smith is probably looking for.
I'm calling it now, when Revis is not a Miami Dolphin, people on this site with no other info than, Revis is not a Dolphin, will blame it on any and/or all of the following: 1. Ireland's attitude. 2. Ireland was too cheap and lowballed. 3. Ireland had no plan to get him. 4. Ireland insulted Revis' mother 5. Ireland thought Smith was better 6. Ross told Ireland Smith was better. 7. Since receiver skill doesn't matter at all to a QB or football team or winning, neither should CB skill. Here's a chart that makes false correlations to prove it.
Balderdash. The one and only reason that Revis won't be traded to Miami is you don't trade players of that caliber inside your division.
Pass, coming off of an ACL and he is more of a piece on a already contending team then someone you'd build around.
Translation for the Firelanders: Ireland is so inept he never even heard of Revis!!!!!! Riot!!!!!!! (Its the offseason for us pads, we got to keep the hate fires burning)
Not possible. My hate for them might be stronger than my love for the Dolphins. The only things the Jets hate that strongly are school, hygiene, child support and competent coaching staffs.
I don't mind, but if they trade Cromartie to the 49ers the Ginn and Cromartie families can picnic together..
Its like I'm in your head....or you know....outside your window... ...... ...... ...... ...right now...... ..... .... ...... ..... ...... ....with my pants around my ankles...
It -40 degrees with the wind chill where I live right now. Careful you don't frostbite on your wee-wee.
You Canadians. People aren't meant to live in that weather. I mean seriously, if a guy can't stand outside someone's window while naked and he has to worry about frostbite on his junk...its just not right.
Can you believe how darn cold it is out here, officer? Oh it's not what it looks like, I'm just trying to keep it warm so it won't fall off.
Total and complete hyperbole. Inaccurate and unnecessary. It's like you are just trying to incite another pro vs anti Ireland argument.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...nson-wants-to-explore-a-darrelle-revis-trade/ holy ****... color me flabbergasted.
One year rental with a draft pick price? Nope. I'd give them Paul Soliai and a 4th round pick for Revis.
Really? This doesn't surprise me at all, Jest went all in the last 3 yrs, the bill is due now. Besides, fellas, "elite" Cb means jack moving forward, when you use 3 Wr formations your elite guy takes out 1 Wr, what about the other 2? Sort of like "franchise left tackle" You then attack the RT Basically, what matters now is guys who cannot be denied handling the ball, ie, Qb's.
This is worth taking seriously. 1) Jeff Ireland needs this team do play well this year to keep his job, many believe 2) He needs players who will help now, not rookies who will take time to develop 3) If you look at what's available at #12, you realize we may end up having to take cornerback Johnthan Banks, the way the draft is stacking up 4) Are you really better off with johnthan Banks than Darelle Revis next year? 5) If you feel you can work out a contract extension with Revis, it may be the best 'win now' move to send that #12 overall pick to the Jets for him. It seems crazy for an older, injured player... but if you can agree to a four year contract, and you are a GM on the hotseat, is it really so crazy?
not for 16 million a year , defense is overrated anyways now, you need offensive skill players who score TD's, thats where the money needs to go
1) The Jets would demand an insane offer from us. 2) It would be a 1 year rental 3) Never trade within the division.
I actually thought trading Revis would be in the Jets best interests. 1. Their defense didn't suffer too greatly without him. Obviously they're better with than without, but his injury didn't break the D. 2. Guy is making insane amount of money and their cap situation kind of sucks 3. The team is going no where with him and he'll get them players/picks to rebuild with. Why not trade him if you're NYJ? He can't cover Gronk anyway lol. There's no one in Buffalo or Miami worth covering with a shutdown corner at this point, either. Smart move for the Jets. Without knowing their cap situations, I think every team in the NFC north should be interested. Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall, and GB's holy trinity... Washington loves big names and the Saints might be interested given White/Jones, Vjax, and whoever the Panthers bring in.
