It is bush league and its not common in the NFL. If he wanted to get a new coach then you fire Sparano. Look at the teams that fired coaches this year, most were gone the day or so after the last game, its usually the way its handled. Ross was a new owner at the time and didn't really know what he was doing and I'm Harbaugh was smart enough to know that he didn't want this job over the San Fran one. San Fran has better owners, a better front office, drafts better and overall the organization is just much better than we are with Ireland and Ross at the helm. Harbaugh was smart and made the best decision for him and we are sitting here watching the best young coach in the league developing young players, particularly Qbs and coaching in a Superbowl.
As a person that was there at the draft party when that happened: Let me tell you that it's not something any of us that were in that building will soon forget.
I dunno tbh I always thought we gave up on ginn to early hes not a world beater by any stretch but I still think he could of helped us these last few years hes a pretty decent special teams return man
This is only pertaining to coaches right? Because Harbaugh dang sure went on a Dolphins excursion to go get Peyton Manning and wasn't straight up with Alex Smith about it, then let a rookie take his job stringing him along even after with hope that he can still get into the lineup.
And it was pretty obvious that there was an informal agreement that Alex Smith was going to stay in SF. Alex Smith wasn't even entertaining other teams until SF went Peyton hunting. Harbaugh even came out saying that Alex Smith was their guy and they weren't even interested in Peyton Manning (As the plane was on the tarmac). Contract or not....Harbaugh mislead Alex Smith (Their Guy) and then did it again this season in-season.
JJ openly campaign for Shula's job while Shula was still employed. Bill Parcels had a "gentlemen's agreement" with Tampa Bay before they fired Dungy but then backed out of it. I think this happens way more than people think. In fact I would wager that any time a big name coach is quickly hired to replace someone, there were conversation had prior to the actual firing. Only think Ross did wrong is get caught having those conversations.
You forgot the part where Harbaugh lived in Northern California, coached at Stanford and didn't have to move cross country. If you think that played no role in his decision, I have some land I want to sell you. Instead, you decide to bash the Dolphins without taking in to account the primary and overwhelming factors that led him to stay in California.
Yup, we unnecessarily got rid of him out of Parcell's obsession to turn over the roster and make it his type of team. Ted Ginn, although unworthy of a first round pick, and not a #1 or #2 receiver by any means, has his place as a contributing NFL player. Ego move by Parcells.
Marcus Thigpen was the sixth best kickoff returner in the NFL this season, with a total of 1040 yards. Ted Ginn was no. 42 with a total of 253 yards. Ted Ginn had exactly 10 more yards than Marcus Thigpen on punt returns this season. Good riddance, Teddy, whom we drafted no. 9 overall. Give me Thiggy, a UFA from the CFL.
WOnder how ALex is feeling about staying in SF now.. relative to losing his starting job not going to the superbowl
I think it's a safe bet he'll ask for a trade or his release. Plenty of teams in the NFL could use Alex Smith.
Bet he doesn't play a down other then maybe a run out to the 20. Memories: San Fran knows better....right?
**** I would be happy. Not everyday you get a ring. The money he's making riding the pine. Can you say instant career lengthening.
To a point, I thought we tossed him out to quickly and also thought a Wr corp of Ginn/Marshall/Bess/Hartline would have been damn good.
I have to admit that his catching that ball over Reavis and turning on the afterburners, pulling away from Reavis as he headed for the end zone, made my day. Same as the two housed kickoff returns in the other game. Too bad he couldn't do it consistently, but to his credit, both were against the J-E-S-T.
Don't care how fast this ****er is. He's a shaking chihuahua on a football field. Looks just like Ted... and how does any guy who plays like as much of a coward as Ted Ginn Jr. walk around with this much 'swag'? WTF.
Not me. I couldn;t see him leave quickly enough. He was an embarassment. Dropping to the turf untackled. Ducking out of bounds short of the sticks to avoid hits. Dropping balls when he heard footsteps. Guy was a straight up coward. His coach-father probably expected him to play football, so he did, to not look like a loser to his old man.
Granted. But forget about Quinn for a second. Who in his right mind uses the ninth overall pick on a kick returner who may or may not develop into a wide receiver? I mean, kudos to Cam for not having been impressed by Quinn. But Ginn?
Of course it had a role but if the Dolphins were a class organization and San Fran was a lesser organization it wouldn't be as big a factor. I don't think things were equal before even considering the location(s), if you do I don't know what to say because you are just completely ignorant of facts/history.
