And the funniest thing? If the Ravens lose (forbid it), we're going to be rooting for him.

In all seriousness, I'm happy for him.

He earned it. Teddy gained 3x as many yards against GB last week in receiving yards than he did during the entire regular season.

At least we didn't draft Brady Quinn.

I guess Ted Ginn was the happy medium between Brady Quinn and Patrick Willis.

When he was introduced, whoever introduced him for the Fins said that not only were we getting a good player but we were getting a good family or something to that effect...

    edit: Actual quote

""We drafted the Ginn family," Cameron said. "Ted Ginn and his family will give us everything they have.""

Because we drafted them back in 2007, and they've been in the league ever since.

Also, looks like not firing Sparano, Ireland, and not doing whatever it takes to get Harbaugh was the right move.

Hard to fault Ross on this imo. What more could he have done to try and get Harbaugh?

On the bright side: The QB we passed on in 2008 can only make it as far as the conference championship. Such a loser.

He should have given him anything. This is not about settling and being happy coming in 2nd. Dude this league is about winning, and Jim Harbaugh is a winner, and that was very clear to Ross. Ross should not have come home without his signature on a contract - PERIOD.

You're assuming there was price not too steep? What if Harbaugh wanted all of Ross' money, should he have done it?

Be reasonable. Harbaugh didn't want to leave the CA.

How do we know Ross didn't offer him the kitchen sink? The bottom line is he was never coming here no matter what. He wanted to stay in Cali, and knew that the 49ers had a lot better of a core to work with. Some superstars even...

His wife didn't want to leave CA but 8m+ a yr can change lots of minds. Ross ****ed up by not firing Sparano first. No coach in the NFL is going to take another head coaches job while he still on the team.

Coming out I had Ryan rated as potentially a borderline franchise QB. Earlier this year he looked like he was going to surpass that evaluation. Of course a big part that was his outstanding receiving corp. I like Ryan, but I don't think he has as much upside as many of the guys in this last draft. I had RT graded higher than I had Ryan in their respective drafts. I think that by year three RT can be as good as Ryan is now provided of course that they give him weapons that are closer to what Ryan has.

Ginn was over drafted for sure but he's been a solid return guy in the league for years. Its not his fault that our front office had a 3rd/4th WR/Return Guy rated in the top 10. Good for him, he's never been a bad guy in the league.

There isn't much use bringing up the Harbaugh fiasco anymore, yeah its obvious that Ross should have fired Sparano at the very least and probably Ireland too if he wanted to have a legit shot at Harbaugh, no one that can get a good job in the league is going to walk into that mess. Ross screwed that one up, could he really have gotten Harbaugh? We will never really know but it was still bush league to go after him while our current coach was still employed as a fall back in case it didn't work out.

I agree & I'm probably speculating but I believe NFL coaches are like a fraternity. Not many people can say they are in it & I believe they have "Gentlemens or Knights code" on how they do business with each other. While some might hate each other & go to the extreme with their hate, I never saw once where one NFL coach took another coaches job while he was still there. Basically, Harbaugh would of done that if Ross hired him. Of course, Ross could of spun that he did fire Sparano but Harbaugh would of still looked bad infront of his peers. If this were to happen, only way to shut Sparano would be to pay him to keep his mouth shut. Then again, like you said, nothing factual & I'm probably speculating.

I know there is no point in bring it up again but Harbaugh making it to the SB in his 2nd year & his 1st year also if Ginn was the return man did bring it up. Sooner or later, someone was going to bring it up, it just happened to be me this time around.

Personally, I think its a myth. Loyalty and fraternity in professional sports isn't what we pretend it is. Saban won't lie about where he's coaching. Belicheck will take over the Jets because his mentor, the vaunted Parcells, handed it too him. And good soldier interim HCs are always given the job long term.

Every year we hear about the passion and fire Cowher & Gruden still have until they turn down every job they are offered, then we're told they are happy in the booth. If they are happy, why are they talking to teams or if they want to coach why do they turn down every offer?

Was it ideal? No. Did it really hurt the chances of landing Harbaugh? I seriously doubt it.
