Did Tannehill struggle in any way that wasn't caused by anyone else in the world?

I think a lot of that goes with how you respond to others threads. Ive found, long before I was made a mod, I rarely got in to it with other members. If you debate the post and say things in a manner that isnt confrontational and isnt directed at someone people tend to be more understanding regarding your points and not take it personally. I tend to be a very direct and blunt person so it was a challenge for me to learn to post that way but I wanted to stay here and I didnt want to be an ***hole (not saying you or anyone is) to anyone since we all like the same team. If they do take it personally thats what the ignore button is for or maybe you address it via PM. If someone bashes it needlessly the staff will review it if its reported or if they see it.

As for this Tannehill, Im not really sure I can give an adequate assessment of his weaknesses because his cast was so poor. Anytime youre dealing with a bottom 5 cast in the league like we had, Im not really sure thats fair to assess any QB that way. Im sure Cleveland has the same debates going on with Brandon Weeden right now. I think in cases like this you have to look at what he did well above everything else which was he put a lot of passes in tight windows that were very catchable. The biggest thing, I see is ball placement but if we get better receivers that can actually adjust to a pass I think a lot of that gets overlooked.

Right, but did you think he would?

I'd be ecstatic if he was Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees or Tom Brady or John Elway or Peyton Manning or Joe Montana...

There will never be another Marino.

Where he struggled especially early was speed of transition and recognition. That is coming off 1 st read and transitioning to 2 & 3rd reads or letting it go to. 1st read, being eithher 1/2 second late or early.

So 40 pages of people saying 'no you're wrong' wasn't enough, we had to play off our numbers fetish and make a thread/poll about the same point eh?

Tannehill doesn't suck by any means, but I also don't find it taboo to discuss where he needs to improve.

I thought he struggled at times with finding a passing lane, and had his passes batted down or tipped up at the LOS. He did seem to make progress in that area as the season progressed, so that's promising. But I think it's something he needs to work on this offseason. Also on a similar note, he wasn't very good at stepping up in the pocket in the first half of the season, and would sometimes leave his Tackles out to dry. But he did seem to make strides in that area in the 2nd half of the season starting around the Seattle game. I think if he puts some time this offseason into how he works the pocket in all respects, it could really help him take the next step.

Also, Shou... stop pretending to be ignorant to what you are trying to do in every one of your threads.

Id like to see him work on varying his platforms and arm slots..he did a couple sidearms throws but he just doesn't look comfortable doing so.This imo affects the screen game to a degree, sometimes you have to be able to throw around defenders from that angle..

I believe he needs to improve his quickness, this will help him escape a bit better when protection breaks down..obviously the more comfortable he is with the speed of what's happening around him we might see more of his true athletic ability when he's forced to improvise.

4 out of the 13 people who have voted in the poll indicated they believe Ryan Tannehill did not struggle in any way that was attributable only to him and to no one else in the world.

Notice we haven't seen their rationale. ;)

Honestly, no. His numbers would've been through the roof with a Greg Jennings to throw to. Can't wait to see what he's going to do next year with upgraded WRs.

Fair enough. I dont think you have to be yelling at receivers to have swagger. I saw several times were Tannehill was slinging it because he was feeling it. I dont think swagger is an issue. If you want him to be like Marino, it isnt happeneing.

I've got a lot of respect for Sho Trav, don't know why you would insinuate such a statement..

I believe a lot of folks misinterpret Sho's intensions, I understand he likes to engage the board, and I'm not sure why that's so wrong, he's highly intelligent, and I find his thoughts to be interesting as hell sometimes, I really don't think he tries to be controversial, I think he says what's on his mind and how he interprets the game.

Easy! No pass-catching threat at tight end, over the middle of the field. And I've been saying that since we were developing Chad Henne in 2009! :)

If it were up to me, Pat White would've been Tony Gonzalez.

Along those lines, one of the things I didn't like about Tannehill from Hard Knocks was when he took off running and dove head first on one of plays shown during the series, and when Jake Long told him not to do that anymore, he sort of had a sheepish response to that. Now granted he was in his first NFL camp at that point, but he's going to have to develop much more of a "hey, I run this offense and I'll do as I see fit" sort of response to those kinds of comments at some point along the way here. That is if he's truly going to lead the team.

    IMO.

He needs to improve his pocket presence/awareness considerably.
Did not find a lot of open receivers, not a huge amount but enough to throw beer at the fence
I am not convinced, like some may be, that he can be consistently accurate on his long ball. I admit we did not have receivers that got any mass seperation so on this I kind gotta almost probably give him a pass.
The kid HAS TO STOP changing plays at the LOS as often as he does. I know its used a lot but the first half of the season I can honestly say he changed 70% of the plays. That alone brought the total number of plays run down.

Not saying this is what Ryan is or will be, but Chad Henne was thee exact sad way. And he was "coached" into the ground. His QB play became a mirror image of Sparano and Hennings philosophy. Conservative.

I just want too see him act and play like HE is in charge and he is the oil to our engine.

It's not something every rookie has right away, I would just like to see him develop IT.

Your so off on this topic, it's 100% Laureen Tennehill fault here. How can Tennehill expect to learn how to be a NFL QB & play well on sundays. When his hot wife distracts Ryan all the time? It's unfair to the Dolphins fanbase. Only reason RG3, Luck & Wilson played better is because there girlfriends look like crap. I think we need to find a QB in this year's fraft with a ugly girlfriend or wife.

I'm more concerned with our inability to make plays on the ball down field than RTs ball placement. Rarely is a ball dropped in the bucket 30 plus yds down field, gotta have some guys who can gear up for the overthrow, throttle down for the under throw, go up and catch a ball or two in traffic. We don't have anyone like that.
