If we can successfully turn a waiver wire TE (from NE) into a quality starting OT that'd be pretty impressive and save us a lot in money and a pick.

The Will Yeatman project is a bit interesting to me. Every couple weeks or so it seems like Jackson has some blurb about him in there, it seems like the coaching staff is very optimistic about him.

It seems like he's at very least working hard. He was up to 300-something pounds in the middle of the year, and spending the off-season doing basically voluntary work with a quite good offensive line coach is promising.

it does mean that he has put on about 40 lbs in less than a year ... like the lacross mentality he brings, obviously the staff liked him - they kept him on the roster the whole season knowing he wouldn't be ready until this year, at best. It would be great if Martin, Jerry, and Garner were there as well.

Are we seriously going to roll the dice on Yeatman?

Him being a former lacrosse player most likely means he has fantastic footwork. I just question his strength.

Yeatman was a pretty big turd at Norte Dame. He got arrested twice… the 2nd time costing him the rest of the football season. He then transferred to Maryland where he managed to stay out of trouble.

When I went to the Fins/9ers game earlier this year I immediately noticed Yeatman during the national anthem. He looked to be the tallest player on the sideline but he looked slim (almost skinny compared to the rest of the players). IF he is really at 305 as I have read… I could see him at 340 to 350 no problem.

nothing to cringe about, Yeatman is going to be a surprise or special teams player. He is not going to be their only plan.

He's been at it since July or August, I don't think it's that wacky for a guy whose job is basically just to do that for that period of time.

I'm hoping Yeatman is good enough to convince Long to lower his contract demands to 7-8 million. If not we gotta sign a RT and move Martin over permanently. I'm not tryna hear about Yeats as a starter. At all.

who knows if Yeatman is going to be ready or not. Sometimes it takes a season or two to get there (not saying I would put any stock in Yeatman starting next year, only the Fins really know what they think about him) Having said that, I really doubt Yeatmans status in the team will have anything to do with Longs contract demands. If anything Long should watch his game film from this season, that should give him an idea of what he is really worth 5-7 mil per (IMO). If I was running the Fins I would not offer Long more then 3 years at 6 per. This is the NFL, cant sign players because of what they have done.

I'd love to get him at that number, the question is whether he can get more than that from another team and how much it'd cost to replace him if he left.

Can Vollmer play LT? I would sign him away form the Pats and put Martin and LT and be done with it.

BTW, if I am going to pay anyone big money to play LT it would be Clady… if the Broncos are dumb enough to let him hit the market

Would you mind fixing my quote in your sig block so that Yeatman's name is spelled correctly? Or, did I misspell it when I said it? :)

He has experience at LT. The Pats played Vollmer at LT as a rookie in 2009, when Light was out, and he allowed no sacks and only one hit on the QB but they never used him there again. From 2010 on he's been just at RT.

Vollmer would be great if he can stay healthy. Perhaps Yeatman blossoms into a LT, Vollmer remains at RT, and Martin moves to LG where he has stud potential.

3 of 4 seasons, Vollmer has been fine health wise.

I was under the impression he's been dinged up too often but I could be wrong.
