I'm convinced it's not that difficult to fix this offense after watching the 9ers play and dominate today. The following statements assume that Tannehill will pan out and become an above average QB.

    1) Resign Long or sign someone that is going to be an upgrade at LT. And please don't say move Martin to LT because he's average at best.
    2) Draft Warmack or sign Levitre to play RG
    3) Resign Hartline
    4) Sign a play maker at EITHER TE or WR

The 9ers are very efficient on offense with a great O-line, above average QB, solid RB and TE. Can you imagine what people would say on this board if we draft Warmack and resign Long? If it takes 3 1st round draft picks to have a fukin awesome o-line than so be it. It's hard to argue with this philosophy when it's clearly working for the 9ers.

I forgot to mention that Warmack will clearly be the BPA available at our current draft position. I don't see any teams ahead of us taking a Guard.

I love to see Warmack in a Dolphins uniform. Our line needs to be upgraded and we need play makers at the reciever postion. I love to see Wallace over Jennings myself.

I'm hoping the Fins sign a FA to upgrade a skill position on offense. I just don't see a WR or TE worth selecting with the 12th pick in this draft.

Please not with the 12th pick! I think he'll be available at the bottom of the 1st round. Irish should try to trade back in the 1st round if he believes Keenan will be a critical piece on the offense.

Theres a few different ways to approach it depending on which FA's we sign. The FA's we sign would determine who I want draft pick wise.

Theres 5 signings I want, in no particular order:
    1. Mike Wallace - True vertical threats are extremely rare. Ones that that can catch the ball with regularity are even more rare. Theres maybe 5. Wallace is one, and hes young enough to develop and grow with this team. He also brings experience in a winning environment
    2. Greg Jennings/Brian Hartline/Dwayne Bowe - Just 1 of the 3 to work the middle of the field reliably. Which ever would be cheapest.
    3. Dustin Keller or Jared Cook - We need a TE who can start and be a factor in the passing game. Both qualify. Keller is my preference because hes not coming off a serious injury and hes a better player overall imo.
    4. DRC or Brent Grimes - I dont want Smith resigned since hes got stone hands. Guy reminds me of the receiver in The Replacements that needed crazy glue. Grimes is a serious threat to catch the ball even coming off a serious injury. DRC is as well.
    5. Sebastian Vollmer or Gosder Cherilus or resigning Randy Starks - I really want Levitre but hes getting Carl Nicks money and Im not prepaid for a guard to get that. These 2 should be in the 5-6M per range and solidify RT. if it goes higher just use the money to resign Starks.

Im prepared to let Long, Bush and Smith walk.

That's one hell of a wish list. We'll be lucky to see 2 or 3 from that list. Who do you have playing LT assuming we don't re-sign Long?

Im cool with Jonathan Martin there. An offseason in the weight room should have him playing above average at LT next year. Thats about what Im looking for. I think he can develop further as well as he gets stronger so long as he stays this agile. Hes got great feet.

We've got to stock up on skill position players in both free agency and the draft. We HAVE to.

WR, CB, TE, S, DE (pass rusher). Get guys who can make plays on the ball both offensively and defensively.

I mean, if you go out in free agency and sign one of Mike Wallace/Greg Jennings and one of Dustin Keller/Jared Cook and then draft someone like Dee Milliner in the first round that is a major improvement from a skill position standpoint.

Or sign Greg Jennings, Dustin Keller and draft Cordarrelle Patterson.

Or sign Mike Wallace, Jairus Byrd and draft Tyler Eifert.

Or trade for Calvin Johnson and Darrelle Revis and sign Jairus Byrd and Greg Jennings.

    The possibilities are endless!

Jennings, Patterson, and Bess would make one HELL of a WR corp. Keeping Matthews and Binns behind them would be refreshing too.

A superstar WR would guarantee us the playoffs. Anything else we decide to upgrade would simply add on to that.

I think Jennings is just too old to be the dynamic player we need. I think if you can sign Jennings you still need to draft a young dynamic WR, which leaves us with trying to fill in the existing gaps with less than dynamic draft picks. Ireland has to hit on those or it won't matter that much, we might be improved but will it be enough ?

Martin led the NFL in hurries allowed. I don't think we can assume that an offseason in the weight room will make him above average. I think a big jump for him would put him at average, which I would be satisfied with for the time being.

Right but a lot of that happened with him learning a new position, RT, that frankly he doesnt have the body to play. RT is typically a run blocking power tackle which is not Martin's game at all.

Martin actually gave up more hurries as a left tackle. At right tackle he gave up 30 hurries in 11 games (2.7 hurries per game). At left tackle he gave up 17 hurries in 5 games (3.4 hurries per game).

I really hope he makes a big leap but I think the far more likely jump would be for him to jump to average, which would be a good start.

It sounds good in theory but we already have spent high draft picks on the OL without much to show for it .The OL can be developed from lower round picks or FA .

We need more skill position players with our high draft picks IMO.

Sounds great. Now all you need to impliment is a read option offense and have a QB that can run and throw like Kapertnik.

Harbaughs offense in SF and the players he has in there has NFL defenses reeling on their heels. But alas, ESPN and most NFL idiot talking heads persist that the read option offense would never work in the NFL. LMAO.

No plans for a running game then ?

Also, I'm one of those crazy people who expects young players to improve their craft and get better with experience. I don't think Jonathan Martin is a moron either. Call me crazy, but maybe with an off season to prepare for the NFL he can improve.

I'm willing to give Martin another year at LT.
The dude went to Stanford, he's not a moron.
I think the running game can be solved with Lamar Miller and a FA pickup or mid to late round pick. Marcus Lattimore? He won't help us next year but I still believe he will have an excellent career. Think Willis Mcgahee.

I just don't see the Fins getting anywhere on offense without creating a superior offensive line. I think Martin is used at RT with the possibility of LT if your LT goes down. It is a HUGE leap of faith to think he will be average at LT or even RT. Simply saying we can develop an above average G or T with a mid round pick is crazy. Jerry is pathetic!

I completely agree that the Fins need to sign a play maker wr or te in FA. But this is fool's gold without an above average to great O-line play. The other factor is Tannehill. I do not see him being successful without a solid running game. He is not a Luck or Rodgers type of talent.

Martin could be in the weight room for the entire off season and he will notmake a good NFL LT.

We need to replace Eatatron John Jerry. Its useless to try to run any offense when you have an elephant that cannot move at RG.

Why is it rookies go to other teams and play well but when we get rookies on our team that are marginal they " need time " Sick.

I love the Lattimore talk. See: Michael Bush. We need these boom or bust type picks. We have to swing for the fences now. Daniel Thomas is officially a dissapointment, Lamar Miller looks like a nice player, Reggie will probably be back. We should get by without drafting a back if we sign Reg, Deangelo, etc... but there's little to build on there. The positions we consider the weakest on this team actually have young talent, with atleast some potential. ( CB, WR, TE, DE, T, G ) However, some of our strengths have little to build on going forward. (RB,LB,DT) When you have a chance to get an offensive player with Elite talent outside the first or even second.... you've got to jump on it an see where it takes you.

And at LT youre generally facing the opposing teams best rusher. Many of the hurries he allowed were simple bull rushes. Hence why he has to get stronger.

**** getting cute in the draft. Just grab the players you wanna grab. Getting the players you want and having them turn out ot be solid or better is enough of a win and all this team needs. We can wheel and deal when our team is more complete and competitive every year, like the Pats.

Warmack going to be a Pro Bowler next season, he would be a great fit next to Pouncy for year's to come. Not only that, but he make our LT job much easier. I hope he take him at 12th pick and never look back.

Spread option offense and the wildcat are very related. Spread option was the evolution to the wildcat in the nfl. Only problem was we drafted pat white to run ours. Other teams drafted cam newton, rg3, kaepernick, Wilson, etc... the nfl is going to have a hard time catching up. Especially considering the pro style offense is dying in college. This is the future.

I think suggesting some sort of future revolution is a bit premature, but it's not as if this stuff is rocket science that the NFL needs to "figure out". Having ten blockers on a play instead of nine is fundamentally sound football, and I don't think any sense of NFL exceptionalism changes that.
