Nice call, I'm beginning to think DJ is a QB guru or something. First CKaep and now Wilson...

Deej nailed both of them <metaphorically>...... and it's not just about loving the athleticism b/c he had reservations about Newton. Kudos to DJ.

Indeed, goes to show that when trying to evaluate players....we are all weathermen.

While we're bumping things that we were right about, should I go back and bump that thread where I figured out you were Todd before it was public knowledge? And then you adamantly proclaimed you weren't? :shifty:

Kaepernick looked like he was on a whole different level yesterday. It was funny watching him run and Aaron Rodgers run and seeing just how much faster Kaepernick was. I'd worry about a sophomore slump as teams watch tape and work to contain him running, but he looked pretty damn accurate yesterday too.

Kaepernick is just another case study at the opportunity risk when you stick with a failed QB (Henne) too long.

But you also have to factor in Jim Harbaugh. The guy seems to have the ability to turn any QB into gold.

Looking back at KB21's comments, maybe it's time he stop judging NFL QB prospects by the color of their...hair. :shifty:

Kaepernick is the real deal, no need to worry about a sophomore slump.

Harbaugh has not just had any QBs, he has had some uber-talented ones. He does seem to know how to get the most out of his QBs.

Kaepernick looks good one day, the next game he sucks. Green Bay defense looked like crap today & Kaepernick & Co. took advantage of it.

Hes been pretty good so far with a few stinkers mixed in. With QB's that run as much as he does, hes gonna have to do it for a full season or three before Im really convinced.

Regardless, for what I want from a QB I dont want a hybrid QB. I want a QB who can run when needed like a Rodgers, McNabb (in his prime) but not someone youre designing runs for. I want a QB running only when the pocket really breaks down cause if hes going to get hit anyway, which under that circumstance he would, he may as well gain yards.

Coaches finally are embracing the schemes to utilize dual-threat QBs. Was only a matter of time before you saw this in the NFL. Not much longer before pure pocket passing QBs become to exception not the rule.

I spent an hour looking in the draft forum at threads between 08-11. There is not one if us who at one time or another was WAY off base on a player, and that's ok because it's awesome information for the most part.

If you guys ever decide not too fap that day and go back and look I'm sure you will find it comical. Just be prepared to laugh at yourself aswell.

This. It is fun to sometimes just go to a random page in the Dolphins forum too and look at what the hot topics were.

And soon (as with Mike Vick and it looks like Robert Griffin) these quarterbacks get hurt. They are not playing cream puffs. Defenses are too fast and too physical. To be successful quarterbacks have to learn to throw from the pocket all the time and becoming occasional runners.

How many bad hits has Kaepernick or Wilson taken this season? These guys aren't Michael Vick.

Its only a matter of time though. Qbs such a huge investment and we have seen it too many times. Guy takes the league by storm. Guy takes 1 too many hits....can't stay healthy and becomes an after thought.

This was my re-draft back in August (from the draft forum - if we could do it all over again):

Round 1) #18-20: David DeCastro, OG (Stanford) - He will probably be a greater mainstay with the Steelers for the next 12 years than any player drafted by Miami in the last 2-3 years. At 6'5 he could possibly go to RT as well, but either way, he's dominant, sure fire starter for years to come. If they decided to every switch him to LG - my goodness, the C-LG-LT trio would arguably be the best in the NFL for the next 6-8 years. Among the players in round 1, I think DeCastro is probably one of five to seven the most reliable picks in that entire round.
    * he was injured and out for the year. but I think he will still become a very good player for them. Aside from injury I'd have loved him alongside Pouncey.

Round 2) #42: Stephen Hill, WR (Ga. Tech) - This fills a huge need. With Philbin and the offense I think they would do a great job teaching him and though, like many WR's, he might take a year to develop, he could be a star in this offense for years to come.

Round 3) #72: Russell Wilson, QB (Wisconsin) - He was well liked in the draft and he looks like a keeper.

Round 3) #78: Chris Givens, WR (Wake Forest) - This kid would be ideal for the Philbin offense. Would likely be ahead of Hill early on and would be another great weapon for the future. I also think there is a good chance Vernon would be available later on if they really loved him.

Round 4) #97: Lamar Miller, RB (Miami) - same pick. I think this could be their best pick of the draft. Slow to develop but he has a future upside.

That's as far as I have time to work through - after that, its much more of a crapshoot than it already is. But, I think the team and these players would be superior to what we have from that draft.

    Wilson - QB
    DeCastro - OG
    Hill - WR
    Givens - WR
    Miller - RB

I would love that group. Those are five players with serious potential to be bonafide, solid starters in the league the next 5-10 years. On Miami, I think all five would have been starters by next year.

    * If we picked up a 2nd draft pick in round 2 as a result of a trade down (say in the 18-32 range of that round):

#2 - Zach Brown, OLB (North Carolina) or Mike Adams, OT (Ohio St) or Dwayne Allen, TE (Clemson). And I'd go somewhere and be happy! Any of those three would be incredible to add to the above group. Probably would favor Allen (b/c he could potentially add blocking along with receiving talent):
