I have no problem letting him walk, as long as he doesn't turn into Troy Vincent 2.0 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He was already likely to ask for more than he is worth, now he is *****ing?? He's a goner and that's ok by me.
What a ****ing idiot. I bet his agent is thrilled. From the start, when we drafted him, I hated his attitude. Him and his 'homie' Freddie Hott 'Sauce'. Priorities out of whack because he is wack. Go get your nails did Sean. BANKS NOW IN PLAY AT 12.
Troy Vincent was already close to elite when he left here and we had to let him walk because Don Shula ****ed up the cap so badly in his last season.
I love how everyone is so quick to dismiss our best CB...who is gonna take his place if he walks? Nolan Carroll??
Not sure you will ever get that, or that it really matters. Its pretty clear to me what he meant here.
That really shouldn't be much of a consideration. You cant give away long-term money because of short-term issues. I think if it that much of a concern, you franchise him.
Must be nice to have a CB who can actually catch an interception, or even one that didnt get burnt time and time again.
Question to the OP and everyone else who is ragging on Smith: Do any of you know the context of the tweet?
I'm all about getting the context right, but you don't feel it's safe to read between the lines here? Really?
He was watching the Falcons game, so it was some defensive player jawing on the field, probably after making a play.
Just another hole in the roster Irish will attempt to fill with a mid to late round pick and fail miserably.
His context is plain is day?? What part of what was said is out of context? He's a douchbag and made a douchbag comment, Phinsational-like.
I'd prefer Smith to stay. He and Brent Grimes would be solid. I'd let Clemons walk and send Marshall back to safety. That's $14 million or so on the starting CB position, we'd have Patterson playing in the numbers, and around $30 million in space left.
I think with Kevin Coyle's experience putting together a hodge-podge of guys in the secondary as he did with Cincinnati, I'm actually somewhat comfortable with Smith leaving - provided Miami drafts and/or signs someone to replace him. I think Carroll, Patterson, and McCann aren't that bad as a 2,3,4 set of CBs. Plus there's Jimmy Wilson and Richard Marshall to consider. I'd still like to see Miami bring in a guy - perhaps Milliner or Banks are far more in play at the 12th pick than we might think now.
Instead of using this as an opportunity to trash Smith, what does this say about our defense? It was strange to see Smith in zone sometimes when man coverage is clearly his strength.
then maybe he doesn't fit the system. Were rebuilding anyway. might as well let him walk. and no, that's not a knee jerk reaction to his tweet. he's not worth the money he wants.
Thanks for posting since he blocked me and I am banned from seeing his pearls of wisdom. Like I said before, let him walk.
Let him walk and then what? Pray we can get a FA CB that we have to over pay for or draft someone and hope it works out? I hope we can resign this guy at a reasonable price, he's a good player, not great but he's worth keeping as a #2 CB for a decent price. I don't think he'll command top dollar but he will get a good solid contract we should try to keep him. Letting him go opens up a big hole that we can't easily fill.
I agree with this. I think Sean Smith would be one of the better #2 CBs in the league. We need a #1 CB badly but letting Smith go (especially if he asks for a reasonable contract) would be foolish.
