UNC WR Jheranie Boyd- anyone know about this guy? He's another WR with good size, very good speed and a track background. There have been quite a few of these WRs with track backgrounds who were FA's like Miles Austin or later picks in the draft who blossomed, Marquez Colston comes to mind as well. He was hampered by a leg injury for a good part of 2012- maybe there are some Tar Heel fans or others out there who can shed some light. He was on the Biletnikoff 2012 preseason watch list, then fell out of sight. Without havibg seen the guy, some guys are good at running, but not at playing receiver, I guess. Probably due to lack of technique, and poor instincts.
Well, apparently he did enough to impress his Junior year that he was on the Biletnikoff watch list as one of the best WRs heading into the 2012 season. That's kind of passing the buck on my part, but all I'm saying is that he must have done enough to impress in 2011 to get on that top WR list. He has the size and speed, but so does Marlon Moore and he might be working at Pizza Hut next year. Boyd does look smooth catching the deep ball imo, I'm just interested in finding out a bit more on him.
No thanks. UNC was playing walk ons over Boyd this year. Dude had a breakout game vs LSU in 2010, then disappeared.
He's exactly the kind of player this front office loves to add either in the late rounds or as a UDFA.
