Going though old boxes today, and after finding my very first Miami Dolphins wallet! I found pics from my first Dolphin game! It was December 12th 1999 in New York, Dolphins lost but it still was a great experience. I remember that day perfectly. First my Uncle and I went to shop rite and got some Chicken wings and ate them at the Stadium. I met a big group of Dolphin fans and hung out with them for a while, even got a pic, but I cant find that pic for the life of me. Got to see the greatest QB play and even though Miami lost I had a great time, I sat right next to a Dolphin fan during the game and we talked and it was a great experience. After the game my Uncle asked the Dolphin fan to take our picture to prove that we were still friends! What was your first Dolphin game experience like?
My first one: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/197810010mia.htm Don't have any pics unfortunately.
Been a fan since 82. First game was the Baltimore game in 2000 where halftime was the Dan Marino number retiring, honor roll adding, street renaming, statue dedication extravaganza.
The first game I ever went to was the game in Miami against the Raiders, the one that Jay Fiedler dove into the endzone with 5 seconds left and won the game and ended up on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I had endzone seats and the entire play happened right in front of me and my uncle.
Colts Dolphins playoff game in December of 2000. What an amazing experience. So glad we won the first time I saw them live.
1996 @ Oakland. I was 10 and we lost. Yes, Oakland fans were crazy. We're 2-2 when I attend. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 via Tapatalk 2
First game I went to was in 2005 and I saw Reuben Droughns weave 75 yards through our defense on like the 1st play of the game (I think JT missed the tackle 3 times). Needless to say it was a rough day (lost 22-0), though I do remember Ronnie Brown having one of the most impressive 1 yd runs I had ever seen (broke like 4 tackles). First game in Miami was in 2009 vs Buffalo though, and saw Vontae Davis get a pick 6, and Henne and Hartline each get their first TDs. That's my first and only win.
Home with my dad against harbaugh, faulk and the Colts. faulk kept getting open put of the backfield I was wearing a Marlins shirt
Well, it was in the Orange Bowl and I was given a ticket by the orphanage near my house. We took one of the buses that, back then, were provided by the team and sat in the Endzone. It was 1970 and I'll never forget that place. It was then that I knew I would be coming back to as many games as I could. Nothing like being at a game when the team is kicking ***. Nothing I tell ya, and the decibals were off the charts in that place. I forgot to add that it was against the Raiders and Miami won the game.
My dad wasn't the biggest of fans and growing up I grew up more in a soccer household. My dad did get tickets to a game when I was 8 years old and I went to see the home game vs the Jaguars in 2003 with a friend. He got sick and we left in the 3rd quarter but other than that the experience was fun. Weirdly enough I didn't follow the team game-to-game until I moved to Mexico where soccer is a bigger deal. Lucky enough for me my first season I followed we made the playoffs.
heh My only game was 2009 in Charlotte against the Panthers, Thursday Night Football. At the time Ronnie was our best skill player and was excited to see him play, but he got hurt the week before. This was the first game that season that Ricky was basically by himself and he had a great game, even Henne made some good plays. Nice that the only game I've been to was a Dolphins win.
August 19th, 1984... Dolphins at the Los Angeles Raiders. Preseason game. Dolphins won 29 to 23 holding off the Raiders at the end... for a preseason game and my first, it was quite exciting.
I'm sorry about your dad, bro. Must have been tough growing up looking after someone suffering from the condition of being a Jets fan.
I was lucky... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199910100clt.htm Manning's rookie year and Dans last really "Dan like" game...he went nuts in the 4th quarter including a beautiful fade pass to Orande on 4th and 2 to keep the final drive alive. IMO I may have never fully appreciated Marino had I not seen that performance live. The velocity was there that day and his anticipation was incredible. Since? I have been to 4 Dolphins games and they have lost hem all.
I forget exactly what game it was but it was in the mid '90s at Orchard Park, NY vs the Bills. Marino and Kelly were slugging it out and with the Fins on top, Kelly began to drive. Unfortunately for him, he throws a pick 6 near the endzone and the dolphins fans surrounded me went crazy. It was a good day.
We've had some amazing games in the past. Makes the last ten years of struggle hurt even more. This was a great franchise once.
Ive been to 3 games after my first game. They lost all but one. The one they won was Brett Favre last game as a Jet, and with a Dolphins win, they won their Division for the first time since...well a long time
My first game was a very special one. It was 1999 when the Dolphins played the Seahawks in the playoffs. The energy of that game was amazing. I couldn't hear my friend who was sitting right next to me. The Seahawks fans chanting and cheering so loud at the beginning because a sweet low grumbling after the Dolphins beat them! One of my favorite memories.
That game was a blowout though. I think it was 95 or 96 that T-Buck took one back 90 yards or so and that was a low scoring game at the time but it was close and in the mid 90's...
Yeah, I remember Buckley picking off Kelly at the end at the goal line and returning it for a TD. I believe it was 14-7 at the time and Buckley bobbled the ball for like 10 yards before finally hauling it in and taking it to the house. Remember watching it at my grandma's house while working on a school project.
That's right. The one Oliver took back in 92 was over 100 yards and he was killing Kelly all game. Two or three picks...and the score was not close.
This is the game Ozzy and I are referring to. 1996. Not sure if it's the same one paca is talking about but I'm sure it is. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199610130buf.htm
The first game I attended would have been back in 2007 when we played the Jets in New Jersey. I went with a bunch of members from the forum (Stitches, Skeet84, SICK, Samphin, etc). We lost but it was still a good time...
Another note on that Raiders game, the guy sitting behind me was extremely fat and bearded and he kept screaming throughout the entire game that he knew Rich Gannon's snap count. When Gannon would go under center the guy behind me would start screaming "HUT-HUT-HUT...HE'S GONNA SNAP IT NOW!"...he was never right.
Not my first Dolphin game but I was at the game when Brommell broke his jaw. http://articles.latimes.com/2010/feb/04/sports/la-sp-super-bowl4-2010feb04
Uncle, Dad was smart enough to be a Giant fan, but my uncle turned my brother to a Jet fan, who was a cowboy fan at first, so for him either way was a lose/lose situation
