It's all fun to speculate with, but it's also completely useless until we see what happens in free agency.

It's convenient at the moment b/c the entire football world knows how badly we need to upgrade our starting receiver unit, and Allen is currently the top WR prospect on most boards.

I'm going to speculate that we sign a WR and lose Jake Long, so with the 12th pick we take Jake Matthews.

Allen's a fit for the scheme, in my opinion, but I have a hard time seeing them take a receiver that high, especially one that isn't dynamic.

IIRC he wants to return for his senior year. Might have to look at Taylor Lewan instead if he declares (if we're talking left tackles).

Luke Joeckel is TAMU's left tackle. Jake may need to start out on the right side. You think either or both is going to stay in school?

My current 6 name short list (leaving out guys I don't think make it to us):
    - DE Ziggy Ansah (fits our scheme and Coyle seems to like bigger strong side ends)
    - DT Sheldon Richardson (fits our scheme as a replacement/upgrade to Starks should we not re-sign him)
    - LT Taylor Lewan
    - CB Dee Milliner
    - CB Xavier Rhodes (great scheme fit + brings much needed physicality to our secondary)
    - WR Tavon Austin (dark horse)

I think Joeckel may come out, and Jake will return so he can get a year in at left tackle.... kind of like how the Pouncey's did with Mike staying behind to get a year in at center with Maurkice gone.

Allen is fine if we dont resign Hartline or get Jennings as a #2. Pass rusher would be the next priority on my list.

If he go at the tackle postion Luke Joeckel, Taylor Lewan or Jake Mathews [all play in the WCO and ZBS]

If we go CB it's Dee Milliner or Johnthan Banks

If we go pass rusher it's Bjoern Werner, Dion Jordan, Damontre Moore or Jarvis Jones

or if we go best player on the board? It could be Manti Te'o or Star Lotulelei

We will not hit WR in the 1st. Why because the draft going to have a ton of good WR's with close to the same grade. Dolphins do not need to reach to grab one at 12, There going to be good options in the 2nd round. Or Ireland can move up into the late 1st, to take one that he feels he needs. [have ton of extra picks to move up]

I'd rather go BPA in DE, S, or CB than reach for Allen. I think Hopkins and Bailey are gonna be studs in the next level and we can get both in the next round.

Do not forget Woods, he had a great Soph year and played injured this past season. Great work ethic, young 20 years old and has great hands. Reminds me a lot of Greg Jennings. [Love to see us add him in the 2nd round]

Every player you listed will be taken before our pick. That is why picking at 12 sucks. Miami will most likely try and trade down.

Edit-Noticed Banks just now. He could be an option at 12.

I know Coyle is against it, but we might not have a choice but to move Odrick inside and draft someone like Dion Jordan.

And if we sign Greg Jennings and someone like Jared Cook, I'm OK with that pick.

    @BuckeyeKing:
I listed 11 players and the #1 pick going to be Geno Smith to KC Chiefs, who need a QB.

I am hoping Jarvis Jones some how slides to us. He is an impact player who could energize our defense.

That's not a foregone conclusion. Star stands a better chance of going #1 than Geno IMO. Just b/c KC needs a QB it doesn't need they need to reach for a guy who currently appears unworthy of being a #1 pick. Plenty of guys they can take atop round 2 or trade back into the 1st for who aren't far off from Geno.

We have 2 guys at SAM linebacker/hyrid in Misi & Vernon who aren't terrible. I honestly don't see us scrapping both players for Jones when there are other positions in greater need of upgrading.

If for some reason Chiefs, do not want to take Geno Smith #1? Sure the Bills or Jets will be happy to move up to the top spot and take him. Funny thing is I do not even like Geno Smith, but NFL experts got him being the next Newton & RG3. One of the reason the Chiefs added Andy Reid is his ability to coach younger QB's. It's tough to find a mock not taking Geno Smith 1st overall.

So many options, Ireland is going to catch an MTD (managerially transmitted disease).

We can basically get whoever we want. I don't mind trading picks, this year or next for a bonafide star and good luck finding one.

I wouldn't be disappointed with Keenan Allen Wayans, it's just that I would think it was a reach.

Mingo is gonna drop to the second. Watch the Giants draft him...

Jones has spinal stenosis and could drop to us. He'd be awesome but probably miscast.

I'd drop for an extra second and trade up with my two third rounders for a total of 1 late first rounder and four second rounders and just skeet playmakers all over the miami fans.

I really hope Dee Milliner drops to #12 or that we trade up by trading a 4th or 5th rounder as well as our 1st to get a high impact player

I don't think it will be Keenan Allen. I think if it's a wide receiver it will be Cordarrelle Patterson. That's a genuine possibility, depending on how they attack the position in free agency.

Otherwise I believe Milliner & Banks are strongly in play, whether they retain Sean Smith or not.

If Starks leaves, Sheldon Richardson & Zeke Ansah are in play. If Jake Long leaves, Luke Joeckel and Lane Johnson are in play. Joeckel might go too high, along with Werner, Te'o and Lotulelei, otherwise all would be in play IMO.

I've looked at guys like Taylor Lewan, Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson. I believe the Dolphins would conclude that Lane Johnson is the best scheme fit for them, aside from the obvious Joeckel.

And I think they're much more likely to try a bigger body at end like Richardson or Ansah than they are to go with lighter guys like Dion Jordan, KeKe Mingo, Jarvis Jones or Damontre Moore. Alex Okafor is more of a wildcard. I could see it, nd at the same time I couldn't.

    Tyler Eifert is a possibility.

Where does he play? In order to be a starter he would have to play Misi's spot, and I can hardly see them concluding Misi was the problem on D. Otherwise he'd be a role player directly replacing Vernon. I have a feeling that a) they don't want a role player at #12 overall, and b) they're not ready to give up on Vernon as that role player quite yet.

If we're gonna draft a situational pass rusher, I'd rather him be a guy we can groom as a weak side end and Wake's future heir rather than a SAM hybrid who really isn't much of an upgrade over Misi or Vernon in base defense IMO, which means you'd essentially be drafting Jones purely from a situational pass rusher standpoint, and in that regard it'd be a misuse of a #12 pick. If we want a situational pass rusher we should go after Carradine, Lemonier, or Michael Buchanan in the 2nd through 4th round IMO. If we want a 3 down guy he'd most likely need to be a strong side end like Ansah or Okafor who can move inside in nickel.

If the D'ends are off the board at 12, I trade down if its not to far, if I can't get the right deal, I select Eiffert.
