    I don't even care.

You watched the games. Do you think Tannehill played as well as Luck?

I think Luck was slightly better, but it was close. I think Wilson was better than both. I think RG3 was ahead of everyone.

Tannehill did a better job than Luck limiting mistakes IMO.

Luck moves inside the pocket as well as any QB not named Rodgers. Other than that I don't see anything that he's demonstrably superior at.

And yeah, I watch the games. Multiple times.

Gotya. But why not talk about some of the reasons you feel that way? I'm always ready to learn something new.

I definitely think Bailey has second round ability, but I feel we could get him possibly in the third because I think his stock is going to slip since he is only 5'10. I would be excited to get him in the second but some might feel thats a reach even though I dont believe it is.

I do agree that that stat can be misleading its just I'd prefer our team at least tries to make an effort to get a playmaker because that is our biggest need. If we cannot trade down from 12, we should definitely go with one of the pass rushers (Bingo, Jordan) because they are worthy of the 12 pick. No receiver is really worthy of a 12 pick so far.

I like the kid from USC myself [Woods], he is just 20 yrs old and has nice hands. Great work ethic to boot, sounds like a Philbin type of guy.

Luck is more accurate, he has better pocket pressence/awareness, he was asked to carry a team and did so, he might even be a better athlete.

Luck is simply a much better QB. I can't believe that this is even a discussion.

And that's nothing against Tannehill. But he's not as good as Luck

More accurate, can you be more specific? There are a lot of different platforms and different Qbs do better under different circumstances.

For example, under normal circumstances, with a clean pocket and a chance to step up. Or under duress, w/o a chance to set his feet properly. Moving left, moving right, off his back foot, on deep-medium-short-middle-sideline throws. Throwing from the left hash to right sideline, right has to left sideline. Who's more accurate on specific routes, slants, deep outs, fades, comebacks, back shoulder, digs, posts, etc.

There's a lot more to it than just "he's way more accurate". I'm sure you'd agree considering Luck's less than stellar completion %. You seem very confident in your assessment I'm just wondering what led you to those conclusions.

I'm not taking anything away from Luck but I thing it's going overboard to say he's way better than Tannehill. They both have strengths and weaknesses. But one clearly gets more press and hype than the other.

I voted for A, only because of WR. IMO, Fasano is fine as the starting TE. We just need a better #2, someone like Zach Ertz.

I watched several Indy games this year and Luck was not more accurate. It surprised me b/c before the season I would have said Luck was more accurate than RT. There were many more WTF passes from Luck and many passes where his receivers made him look good. Luck is a better athlete and he has more situational awareness, but that part is likely a product of experience. As much as I wanted Luck beforehand I would say that as prospects going forward they're both good and fairly equal. RT is more accurate and has a stronger arm. Luck is a better athlete and a better decision maker. I'm not sure who was better over the second half of the season. It was close, but I think I would lean to RT being better over that stretch. And going forward, it's a toss up.

In all the games I saw Luck seemed very accurate with better ball placement than RT.

I respect your opinion but I would imagine that nobody outside the Dolphin fandom thinks RT and Luck are close as prospects. It frankly seems an insane thing to say. Luck carried a team that isn't that much better than the Dolphins to the playoffs and he did it from Day 1.

I saw games where Luck was very accurate, but I saw some where he had plenty of throws off the mark (and I mean what seemed like stretches at a time, not just here or there). I'm not going to try and sway anyone that Tannehill is as good as Luck (or even will be, though it's possible I suppose), but accuracy is not a thing where Luck is head and shoulders above Tannehill (if above at all) this past season.

I certainly didn't see every snap of Lucks like I saw Tanny's so my evaluation as limited, not that I claim to be an expert.

But every time I watched Luck I was majorly impressed with the whole package. In the game where we can compare them head to head, not only was Luck the better QB, but he was the best player on the field, period.

And none of this is criticism of Tanny. I think he's good. But to suggest that he's as good as Luck and have that as your expectation is not only unfair to Tanny but is setting those people up for massive disappointment

How about Luck led the Colts to 7 wins in the 4th quarter and OT. Tannehill led Miami to 1.

History has proven this to be false.

2008 draft: Dolphins desperately need a QB, but we deemed Matt Ryan not worthy of #1. We turned out wrong
2005 draft: Dolphins desperately need a QB, but we deemed Aaron Rodgers not worthy of the #2 pick. We turned out wrong.
2010 draft: Dolphins desperately need a S, but we deemed Earl Thomas not worthy of the #12 pick (or we just really wanted to recoup the second round pick). Earl Thomas is now an all-pro.
20012 draft: Dolphins desperately need a QB, in what may look to be the best QB class since 2004, or maybe even 1983. I'd say we were pretty fortunate.

Now the case can be made for 2011 when we needed QB also and there really wasn't anyone worthy there, but more or less this theory that we've been unlucky just seems like an excuse. There's always been a great player at a need position there in round #1 worth taking (in hindsight, and in that moment)

Although I don't necessarily agree with the first part of your post, this is still good news.

At this point I'd say we have no idea whether we were more fortunate than the teams that in 1983 took Todd Blackledge, Tony Eason, and Ken O'Brien. ;)

I haven't yet looked hard at Hopkins, didn't think he would go pro, from the sound of it you have, question?, was Sammy hurt or something, cause if your telling me that Hopkins stole the spotlight from a healthy Sammy, I'm gonna be speechless.

I will be very glad to rain praise on whoever is our GM if they end up with the best pass rusher available round 1 and get either Patterson, Hopkins, Bailey, Austin, Hunter, Williams, or Allen with one of the twos.

If somehow Gio Bernard, Ty Eifert, Matt Elam, Phil Thomas, or Xavier Rhodes falls to their first 2nd as well and they snatch em up, then I will be doing cartwheels.

WR & CB without a doubt. Nothing else comes close except DE. We have to replace Marshall and Vontae with team players of comparable abilities. Also, our two remaining best players at those positions are unsigned.

The passing game and pass defense has been our problem for over a decade now.

Luck is elite in playmaking ability, the peripheral instincts and explosiveness used when he manipulates a pocket should not be underestimated, these two things take great talent and are code for making first downs, scoring touchdowns, and winning ball games..

Tannehill was not near that level this year, if some are saying that they see that innate ability, and think it will be on par with Luck, Or Wilson, or RG, in the near future, your seeing things more clearly than I am, and damn I hope your right..

The biggest weakness of the team is at receiver, however, that can be addressed in certain ways that don't have to affect our first round pick, because the better player on the board will be that of a defender, which will happen to be at the next position of weakness, pass rusher..so it's all good.

    I want Jordan..

I saw that freak jump cut in the flat to contain the edge, about 6 foot of jump cut..

Me too DJ. I think a lot of the positive comments about Tannehill's potential are just people being optimist. Maybe some wishful thinking. Probably many of the same who were optimistic after the 2009 season about Henne. All I can see from Tannehill at this point is a more athletic version of Henne.

Absolutely, I've got to take into consideration that Tannehill lost 2 pretty significant weapons, relatively speaking, in Bess and Clay...he pretty much had a slow Italian at tight end, Malibus most wanted at receiver, and some stinky Bush.

Wow bud thats the first team specific mock i have seen for us this year, and damn if it's not the sexiest I've ever seen !

Mostly "swing for the fences" type picks, which is what we should be doing.

Mine last year had us getting Bruce Irvin and AJ Jenkins with our 3rd round picks. Really thought that was realistic. So lets all start nasty rumors about some of our favorite targets like Bailey, shall we ?

Remember Trav, you started early this year, we got four months of watching games on these players..I think I'm a bit more conservative by nature when it comes to draftin, but yours looks interesting..

My philosophy doesn't change, I just can't explain what that is, but I don't think it's hard to find more quality football players than not.

    Ridiculous to argue about this.

Luck is clearly a better prospect than Tannehill - no one denies that. Luck is bonafide. Tannehill is still potential. But, Luck does have a much better team around him. A better pass blocking OL and a vastly superior receiving corps. Both at WR and TE. He is playing with a potential HOF WR in Reggie Wayne.

Ok, but if Luck, Griffin, and Wilson turn out to be great QBs then it will rival 2004 and maybe 1983. And we had our chance at one of them.

Can we please not turn every thread into a Tannehill debate.

Yeah, Sammy was hurt. Hopkins was their main threat and came up big when they needed him. IMO his routes and cuts were crisp. He set up the defender well. His hands plucked just about every pass (he had one slight double catch). He used his hands effectively to create space. He made contested catches. He drew PI calls. He showed body awareness along the sidelines. He beat his guy deep. Honestly, I saw very little I would criticize him on. And in the draft forum it's posted (CK, I think) that he declared he was coming out this year.

Before the season, I would have agreed. After watching them both play a ton this year, I would say it's pretty close. In fact, IMO RT was better over the second half of the season. I think the wins (and the highlights) make people ignore/forget some of the struggles that Luck had. Watching the games Luck had more inaccurate passes than RT. He also made more throws into coverage. He was better at managing the pocket and made better decisions about when to run from early on in the season. But stats wise they were pretty close. The few areas Luck was better were largely the result of his receivers making plays that RT's receivers didn't make. If Luck had lost a couple games when his kicker missed some very makable FGs and if his WRs/TEs had dropped a couple of more key passes, but otherwise Luck played exactly the same, then nobody would be saying Luck was clearly better.
