I think it is due to Jake's struggles Richie I had to be more cognizant of his outside shoulder as a defender could twist around Jake and right by him, Martin lacks Jake's power but is a much better athlete freeing Richie I to focus more on his main assignment. As for the VO's statement This thread really generated due to Richie I himself announcing he had been named an alternate via Twitter, when the other 5 were named they were tossed into the thread. Including 2 skill position offensive players, which was the beef I had with a thread about Pouncey being snubbed, not that pouncey is a bad player or unworthy of merit rather that a better team has skill position players who have been snubbed. Even then there is a faction that cannot accept Bush and Hartline are really good players, even now.
He could use work there for sure, but when it comes to working the sidelines, he has feet like a ballerina. He has hands reminiscent of Twilley, Freddy B, and Ray Berry. Fred use to use stick'em on his hands because it was legal then. I can just imagine how Brian would do if stick'em were allowed these days. Brian is not quite a complete receiver, but what he does, he does it very well.
Could be he is just getting continually more comfortable in the scheme. I think it's been since 2006 when he last played in a zone blocking scheme.. Consider there are 64 starting guards and now Richie has moved up to 24th overall in PFF's ratings. He was scraping the bottom for the first 7 weeks or so.
I think he needs to get stronger, my knock on BLine is 4 yrs in and physically he still looks like that skinny Junior who surprised everyone when he declared early for the draft.
the gloves these players use C are just as good as any stickum ever was, it's something not talked about, but the gloves themselves are really helping receivers make catches, particularly with one hand..don't think I can say that about any other player relationship with a piece of equipment.
