My FinHeaven brethern, I have a candidate for coach should things for wrong for Cam. Note that I am neither a supporter for keeping or firing Cameron. However, there is a guy out there who is worthy of taking a look at, has great experiences, and took two previously bad teams and turned them around(Vikings and Cardinals). Remember his 1998 Vikings team that led the NFL in points scored(a record that still holds)? He had Cris Carter past his prime playing like he was young. He developed Randy Moss into what he is today(remember Moss didnt have a solid college career coming out). Not to mention solid TEs and reliable #3 & #4 WRs(Jake Reed, Joe Horn). He developed Robert Smith, an injury prone RB that became a Pro bowl caliber back. He built a solid offensive line. Their defense wasn't great but it was respectable with Robert Griffith and Robert Tate, Kailee Wong, John Randle. Not to mention Mike Tice won with Green's players. His team only came within a FG of going to the Super Bowl.

Ok, onto Arizona. First off, its ARIZONA. Management has limited funds(low ticket sales), you play in a small market, history of mismanagement for DECADES, even hall of fame caliber coaches failed(Buddy Ryan for example). The Cardinals for years have been the NFL's laughing stock, no one has ever been able to turn them into a respectable team, I doubt Bellicheck would have. However, his first two years with the Cards he got 11 wins total, sent a few players to the pro bowl(which is more to say about our team), and finished 3rd and 2nd in the NFC West, which was an improvement over Dave McGinnis. Sure, he didnt turn them into a playoff team, but remember its Arizona. Plus, with a good GM, he could do wonders. He won at Northwestern, he won at San Fran as a RB coach(Roger Craig), he won at Stanford, and he won at Minnesota. He also not old and would pass the NFL's policy on minority coaches test. I know his stint at Arizona wasnt quite successful but keep in mind the circumstances there, the fact that no one has ever won there, even when they were in St. Louis. Our team has a strong winning tradition, an owner would open up the pocketbook for good players(like Porter), strong fanbase, and some of the foundations laid.

Otherwise, Ill be ok with Cowher.

I'd prefer someone who wasn't fired from the only two NFL teams he's coached on.

Parcells and Cowher retired from their teams. The Tuna left NE because of disputes over personel decisions, not because of losing records.

    Lol. Classic.

Sidenote, I've ran into Denny Green out here in Rancho Santa Fe (rich suburb of San Diego) a couple of times. Didn't know he was a San Diego native. He even writes a column in one of the very small local community newspapers. Son wears a Charger jersey heh.

Please, lets try not to mention Parcells when speaking about coaches for this team, the man is so overrated it's not even funny, and he did take off on all 4teams.

    I thought this was satire.

What the hell are you talking about? He improved the Cardinals? He had as many wins in three years as McGuiness did. How did he improve the Cardinals?
You're going to blame his lack of success on the fact that Arizona is a small market? Green Bay is the smallest market in the NFL. Jacksonville is the second smallest. They're doing rather well. Indy is another one of the smallest markets in the NFL, and they're the defending champions! Don't blame Denny Green's incompetence on the ownership, or long-term mismanagement. The Bucs and Colts were mismanaged for decades. The Packers were mismanaged for 25-years after Lombardi left. The Cardinals have been willing to spend money, and Denny Green spent it. He overpaid Edgerrin James, and that was a horse's *** decision. But it was his decision. How many twice recycled coaches have succeeded? There aren't many three-time head coaches because most owners know well enough to not hire a guy that has been fired twice! You're giving Denny Green credit for the Niners winning in the eighties because he was the running backs coach? That's laughable.

Your statements about his time in Minnesota are equally preposterous. Joe Horn never played for the Vikings. He played for Marty Schottenheimer in KC.
To credit Denny Green for Randy Moss's success is loony. He had 25 TDs as a sophomore at Marshall for crying out loud. He had 27 TDs as a junior. He accumulated over 3000-yards receiving in his last two years at Marshall, and you say Moss didn't have a "solid" college career? You're right, he had a spectacular, astounding college career. The only thing Moss did his first few years in Minnesota was run fly patterns and outjump defenders, that wasn't coaching, that was natural ability. Denny Green couldn't get to a Super Bowl with what amounted to a Pro Bowl team in 1998. It says something that Al Davis took a pass on Denny Green.

outside of disney sports movies, sometimes heart ain't worth jack.

As a head coach he really just looks lost sometimes. Not to mention, his meltdown will haunt him in the sports world til the end of his days. However, he did trademark [IMG] the phrase. pass.

That postgame press conference was classic. Honestly if you blame a coach for an outburst after that game, thats a little more than silly, that game had to rip a coach's heart out. Hes a good coach but I don't really see him being on the short list here. I think he's a better coach than Cam...
