With Bess out for Sunday's game (when the hell did he get hurt?) what other receiver will actually step up? Hopefully Matthews - mabey the new guy gets some reps Thoughts?
Rishard Matthews has the most experience in the slot out of the ones that will likely play. But Reggie Bush will probably play slot WR a lot in place of Bess.
Tannehill will be lucky to pass for 150 yards. The Jags will double Hartline and no other receiver on the team is worth spit. The backs will end up being the primary receivers and Fasano will catch his normal one or two passes a game. If this isn't the most boring game of the week. I know I don't want to watch the game which ends up being more boring. I see the Dolphins winning 3-2.
The Dolphins will probably increase the workload of Charles Clay in earnest this time. And also use Reggie more in the slot while simultaneously trying out Lamar Miller at tailback some more. I'm not saying it'll work. Just trying to anticipate what they'll do.
With Bush I feel fairly comfortable at slot, but think Miller and maybe Thigpen should also see some targets. Fasano as well.
If Egnew can't make it on the field this week, he's probably a lost cause. I doubt Armon Binns knows much of the playbook. I hope to see Matthews have a good game.
dont know (said hip) wonder if he got hurt on the play he fumbled last week kinda got sandwiched on that play
The thing is, your 5'10'' 4.7 may sound hilarious, but those are almost exactly Davone Bess's numbers.
this should of been happening from week 1 and use thigpen in the passing game either at slot receiver or out of the backfield imo sherman hasnt used bush, miller enough at all
You've hit on one of the reasons I don't like Davone Bess and Brian Hartline on the same team. They're drain clogs. They make a certain amount of plays which is pretty decent, but at the same time when you want more explosiveness and/or mismatch ability, you are left unable to justify experimenting with new and unproven players because you "can't justify taking _____ off the field". You need to be able to hit the defense with explosiveness from the slot position every now and then (e.g. Marcus Thigpen), or a player that the defense finds it hard to match personnel onto (Charles Clay). Or if the defense is going to play you like they did on that 3rd & 10 against the 49ers toward the end of the game, both safeties split out so wide it's virtually Tampa Two, you need to be able to threaten that deep middle with speed because the defense is putting their slot corner in a really tough situation.
i noticed on another thread you were of the opinion we should trade bess , what realistically would bess be worth ??has he got a year left on his contract after this year? maybe a 3rd or 4th?? from pre season alot of us have seen we have got a group of slot receivers and thats it , bess , matthews, you could say hartline is better suited there ,maybe fuller, bush and thigpen can play there as well , i am wondering if ireland and the coaches see this as well , i doubt it !!!
There are some coaches out there that are big fans of Davone Bess. They'll have to look at the Wes Welker trade and wonder if history is repeating itself all over again. I think there's a possibility you could even get a 3rd round pick for him...but probably more akin to a 4th. I'm just of the opinion that it's not good to have both guys on the same depth chart. Like I said it prevents you from making decisions that could benefit your team more.
Prove this his post, in vivid detail, is an exceptional occurrence. Otherwise you are appealing to false authority. http://ksuweb.kennesaw.edu/~shagin/logfal-pbc-falseauthority.htm Is this fun, or should we just go back to talking football?
You were saying? 123 QBR, 2 TDs, 0 INTs. Hmph, guess that puts Bess's yardage totals into proper perspective, eh. Ditto about your notion of who was holding back whom.
The pass was thrown over 30 yards in the air. Bess has had only 7 such passes thrown to him this year, whereas he's had 98 passes thrown to him of a shorter distance. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/players/9030/receiving_splits.html Talking football in the form of a "subjective slugfest"? I'll take this.
This is why, wait for it, you lead the receiver, he is behind the defender and moving away from him, a proper throw and at the least it is a long gain. Put it this way, are you really saying that a Receiver, behind the defender by 2 yards, is not open?
We're probably better with him, just not on the perimeter. A short 4.7 receiver starting on the outside is just nuts. That's like having to put Spud Webb at center.
I thought Thigpen did well as a fillin Wr, think he needs to work on his game however he was open when THill went to him. Like his quicks
