I'm sorry, I've been lurking around for a long time without posting (see username) but I just have to get my word in here. The fact is we drafted a developmental QB who wasn't supposed to see the field this season, and there are posters here ready to cut him 13 games into his career because we're not going to the playoffs with the same team that has finished below .500 the last few years? I mean, seriously? Is this what the quality of this site has become? Because honestly, that's pretty sad. This was one of the best fan forums I'd ever found. Anyway.

The kid is showing improvement in key areas in his game. Is his TD/INT ratio where we'd like it to be? No. Some of those are on Tannehill, some of those are on the play calling, some of those are on the players around him. Tannehill is not the Miami Dolphins. He doesn't refuse to pick up fumbles. He doesn't drop passes or interceptions. He doesn't run into the endzone for touchbacks, muff punts, or do any number of things that lead us to lose. He shares responsibility, as does the rest of the team. But in a rookie season going up against NFL defenses after playing 19 games in College, he's shown the ability to make every throw needed at this level. He can't do it consistently yet, because he's raw. We knew it, analysts knew it, I'm sure he knows it. His ceiling is clearly higher than any QB we've had in recent memory. So please, give me a break with this "Tannehill sucks" crap. Give him more than 13 games to develop as an NFL qb.

He has had 4th quarter comebacks. I understand you guys get emotional like you're watching greys anatomy or some ****, but jesus, can we stop with the dishonest depictions? Tanny has played well for a rookie. He has had problems as well. We are not completely devoid of talent on offense. etc.

WRs are there to catch TDs and not trip/fall from a slight gust of win.

    They don't.

I could disprove your RTH hate all day.

He would have had a couple fourth quarter comebacks had a couple field goals been made.

With only 8 TDs in 14 games nobody should be sold on Tannehill. But with the shocking lack of talent surrounding him nobody should be ready to pull the plug on his career, either.

In my humble, uneducated opinion, Tannehill should get 1 more year and no more to prove he can be a QB in this league. And the Dolphins should not be opposed to drafting a developmental QB in the later rounds of the upcoming draft to push him.

A raw rookie, playing 13 pro games in his very first season, after playing very few games as QB in his college career. With an absolute horrible, HORRIBLE supporting cast of offensive players and a whole new coaching staff.

Yeah, lets blame the rookie. He sucks. Cut him. Lets draft Barkley with our first pick this draft.

I agree cant be 100% sold on RT yet. Needs to prgress much 1st. But 16 games way too early to write the book on him.

There are some that werent fans of RT from the start and seem to find every opportunity to say "see i was right". Yet they cant show any proof they were actually right we should just take their word on it

Whatever floats you boat. We are not going to pull the plug on him at this point as well we shouldnt. Ludacris to do so at this time.

If after 13. Games next year with hopefully better talent, then yes questions will be valid and yes i can see wanting to search for options.

    Moore wont be that option

Technically speaking his td count is higher than zero, so that's false.

Replace our WR core with -almost- any other teams WRs in this league. (i'd also be willing to debate some college and even HS WRs) and this convo MORE THAN LIKELY wouldn't be happening. It would be fair to say somewhere around 1-8 more TDs as a rough estimate would be on that count... (number is based off my recollection of mindblowing wasted/missed opportunities and catches that are 99% or higher fault of the WR.)

Replace our QB with PLENTY of others, and the lack of weapons would still be a glaring issue and the majority of the blame. No one to throw to. No seperation. No one to protect you. I have a feeling our Offense would almost make a really good/established QB look bad.

You know that I blame Ireland for the overall lack of talent on the roster. Yet, the Browns have limited talent on their roster and Weeden has done more with his limited offensive personnel than Tannehill has.
The reality is that Tannehill just hasn't grown as an NFL QB as the year has progressed.

I haven't given up hope that he will improve with a better supporting cast in the future. I just don't have any faith that if Ireland remains the GM, Tannehill will given any legitimate offensive play makers. Other than Reggie Bush, I haven't seen any player Ireland has drafted or signed in free agency who can be considered a serious threat to opposing defenses.

Tannehill will only improve if Ireland is fired and a GM who knows how to draft and sign quality offensive talent is hired.

Hate comparing games, but look at Colts-Titans and Dolphins-Titans. Luck had just 196 yards, 1TD and 2 INT's and the Colts still beat the Titans. The Dolphins got demolished in every way against the Titans.

Luck certainly didn't beat the Titans alone. Their defense stepped up and actually made game changing plays, giving their offense some points, and they added another with the ground game. We just lack talent everywhere else and we can't get a read on Tannehill because of it. I have no faith in Ireland to do what the Colts and Seahawks have done and actually find talent both in the draft and free agency. And I mean finding more than just one player who might be good. Every GM finds a few good players. But not every GM can build a winning team.

Yeah I will wait until he was some actual talent on the offense. Hartline and Bess are nice pieces, but they are a slot receiver and a 3rd wr in most other teams.

Honestly anyone who doesnt give him two seasons to prove himself, is either rooting for him to fail like Adam or is a Matt Moore lover.

We play loser football that's the main thing I've noticed take the 4th down at the end of yesterday's game for example he throws the ball away wtf was the point of that. He does this all the time never gives wr's a chance on sideline routes he just throws the ball out of bounce now if this is accuracy, coaching, or what not I don't know but its loser football.

he "never gives the WRs chances" argument is pretty much null and invalid at this point.

I watch a lot of games in general, and I don't think i've seen any WRs aside from ours given so many chances to make plays and blow it SUPER consistently, and when they do, they have several WRs to spread the ball around to, so the consistency seems much less.

How many times has RT hit the WR perfectly in a wide open space or perfect stride only to only have them fall from nothing. for NO REASON?, when it would have been an easy 7? (i'll give you a hint, its quite a bit actually)

Or catching the ball and running backwards, losing YAC and a first down when they could have just stretched and stayed where they were?

Or all the other basic 1-step-away catches that any 'speed' or ball-hawk ambition would have caught?.

Or just flat out dropped balls that were on the money?

Lets be realistic and compare "Horrible throws that dont give the WR a chance" to "Good throws that the WR COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY BLEW". and then by all means compare quantity of each and how important each instance was to the outcome of the game.

All of those have a high potential to be scores if they happen. People point out 1 overthrow like its the worst thing ever, then our WR core will drop 7 passes directly to them or catch the ball and lose yardage/fall, and its still the QBs fault

    SHAZSING WE HAVE A WINNER.

I cant beleive that there are so many Bess and Hartline apologist that cant see that they are so unathletic that people will even compare them to the best of the league how about comparing them to a group of three legged turtles .

I'm just trying to get an idea on his ceiling, trying to figure out what we really have here relative to others, and then factoring that in when it comes to Ireland being retained or not..I think we have to criticize to a degree to be as informed as possible and make the best decision.

I really like how RT throws the seam pass, a great tight end for him and he will tear up the middle of the field.
