He is probably still interested in selling a minority share if only for estate purposes but yes I can see where Wayne is guaranteeing a majority ownership at least through Parcells four year contact.

Parcells is not known for his durability on the job so that may just suit him fine.IMO His job woulD be to set up a structure to assure that the Dolphins would be on a path to winning before Parcells leaves.

I'm actually fairly excited to see how things turns out, but I really hope that Cameron stays. I can deal with Capers, Armstrong, and Mueller all being gone, but I really think that Cameron can be the head coach we're looking for.

    Agreed, Crunch.

4 years would be fine - especially if he gets a good young asst. GM to come in. The main thing for the Tuna is to get this organization in the right direction and on the same page - top to bottom - footballwise.

I couldn't agree more! He's the biggest mouth with the least loyalty in the NFL! He makes Saban look good!

    Based on what?

He's shown absolutely no ability as a head coach whatsoever.

Just my opinion. I think he pulls the team together, but again, it's just an opinion. I'm not going to try to pursuade you because it's obvious you disagree.

And no ability? Please be joking...

mortensen just said that after talks began 10 days ago, they were cut off when huizenga discussed selling the team- parcells only wanted to work for huizenga.

once parcells began talking with atlanta. huizenga contacted parcells and told him he will not be selling the team- which revived the talks.

    I will say this:

We as fans are very lucky to have an owner who is determined to do what he has to do to try and improve our Franchise, money has never been an issue with Wayne H, neither has over weening pride been an issue for Wayne H, he goes all out to try and win.

From the "bubble" to remodeling Dolphins Stadium to chasing after Lil Nicky, to paying what it took to hire Cam Cameron and now Bill Parcells, Wayne H is not lacking for effort in trying to improve our team.

I think what Bill P's presence is meant to do is to remove Wayne H from the day to day decision making process as well as the long term process.

A tip o the jar to Wayne H....:ffic:

I understand some fans are not going to like the fact that he never stays in one place very long, and to be honest if we had hired him as coach, I would feel the same way.
I don't think that will matter though, as long as he makes the right moves, and hires the right people, we will be in good shape when he, inevitably, will leave at some point.
Just dream for a second that he will hire a great coach, a great gm, and maybe some top flight front office people, if he retires in a few years, we will still have them in place right?
Maybe, just maybe we can actually get somebody in here so that we won't make the decision to pooch kick the ball out of bounds with 1:57 left, and clinging to our very hard earned 3 point lead. And then have to rely on a very lucky for us, missed field goal, and miraculous 3rd and 8 pass to our fourth reciever in OT to get our first and only win of the season in week 14.

Don't be so sure. Parcells has always said there are only so many talented big guys on the planet. I remember when he was critiquing the '01 Canes he said he was more impressed by freshman DT Vince Wilfork than anyone on the team.

I'm extremely happy with this hire. Immediately gives us some respect among potential coaches and more importantly free agents. Hope some of these guys will give us more consideration than they would have a typical 1 win team. Great history of turning around teams has me extremely excited and looking forward to are future for the first time in years.

As far as people saying Cam is our guy I just don't see it. Based on what? Are we seriously not at least a little bit concerned over a coach that has let us to 1 win (and a lucky win at that)? Yes, he's had more than his share of bad luck including a bad rash of injuries, etc., but so have a lot of teams. Houston, Buffalo, Cincy, Atlanta, TB all of more or as many guys on the IR and all have decent or at least better records (I know-Cincy and ATL suck). Fact is, we are two games behind every other team in the league. Poor play calling, terrible time management, poor team preparation including having the team in what seemed to be poor physical condition early in the season and finally his love of Trent Green. A large portion of this board thought Green would get hurt early and that's exactly what happenned. Was Cam and the Front office blind to the chances that a 38 year old QB could get hurt or be less than effective. Was Green a good fit? Might have been but I felt the odds where against it and to give up a 4th for him was insane. I get that KC would have kept him until late preseason costing us preparation time, but at this point picks are just to valuable and I could have lived with Lemon or even Culpepper starting the year. KC was going to have to release him as it was known they liked Croyle and just gave Huard a multi year deal. I think we only lost a 5th as Green didn't play enough but still a questionable move. Mueller shares in that fiasco, but little doubt he was Cam's guy.

In Cam's defense I think he has done some good. I liked what he did with the offense early. He help turn around Ronnie and made our run game something to be feared. However we were still 0-6 with Ronnie. The total collapse of the D is the obvious culprit so I feel for Cam in that respect. But the personal decisions mainly with the D-line, again Mueller shares blame, left us extremely thin and very young in the front 7. Personally, I felt Mueller and Cams biggest success was dumping some big money guys that had little value in our future. However, 20/20 hind site has proven they took it a little to far by not having enough depth to stop the run. It was a tough call to start the rebuilding process and keep proper depth, but other teams have most certainly done it more effectively if you consider the bottom line of wins and losses. And Safety.....well no one deserves that kind of fate. But at least it forced Cam and Capers to play Jason Allen which has been a relatively pleasant surprise.

I was almost convinced by some reasonable arguments on this board that maybe he should get a second chance. At the end of the day, my professional thought process kicked in and left me thinking what would I do if one of my new employees had a historically bad year and the fact is they would be managed out. Cam never demonstrated he can be a winning head coach and therefore he does not get that same respect and same leeway that perennial winning coach might get. I do confess that after years of missing the playoffs, I have little patience and am tired of my team being a laughing stock. Who knows, changing coaches again could set us back.

Anyway, I just saw John Clayton whom believes Parcell's will likely bring in one of "his" guys and thinks Cam's days appear numbered. I'm thrilled that we have a Hall of Fame football mind leading us into the future and will enjoy watching it unfold, even if he decides to keep Cam. At least I could have confidence that the choice was made by a great football mind after evaluating all options.

Parcells accepts top job with Dolphins

Former NFL coach Bill Parcells has agreed to a four-year deal proposed by owner Wayne Huizenga to make him the team's head of football operations, a source has told The Miami Herald.

Parcells has been impressed with Garrett for years, that is the reason Jason is in Dallas right now, It is widely known that Parcells loves Wayne, has horses in ocala and south florida with Brian Cox, Parcells wanted the Dolphin Job, but did not want to be the coach after shula out of respect, i am very glad he is in control

Wait until after bowl games and the combine. You'll hear the stock of Long and Dorsey falling like meteor! We need a franchise QB first and foremost.

    From that Herald article:

"The negotiations have been on-going between Parcells' agent, Jimmy Sexton, and Miami owner Wayne Huizenga throughout the day."

Well, I guess our head coaching candidate is obvious. Sexton is also Nick Saban's agent, if I remember correctly.

Would make a great line of questioning, anyway. "Bill, is it true Nick Saban is the leading candidate to replace Cam Cameron?"

I'd be wadded up on the floor anticipating his response.

Not since the playoff year when Buffalo knocked us out in the championships. Miami's playoffs after that were mostly brutal to watch.

Bill Walsh was 2-14 in his first season with the 49ers. Tom Landry's Cowboys were 0-11-1 in his first season. Chuck Noll was 1-13 in his first season with the Steelers. That's why I say you can't go off one season for anything.

Parcells isn't a big believer in drafting a QB in the top 5. I expect him to come up with our QB in another fashion.

As for the whole Parcells quitting bit. He at least gets the team right first before he goes unlike Saban.

I'm sorry, but I'm not that excited. Right now he's just another in a long line of supposed "saviors" of the franchise. Jimmy Johnson to Randy Mueller to Nick Saban to Bill Parcells, I don't care. I want results damnit. I'll get a little excited if he actually SIGNS his contract and then I'll be jumping through flaming hula-hoops if, at the end of his 4 years, he delivers a Super Bowl contending team.

Right now to me he's just another big name. He needs to deliver...
