Former NFL wide receiver David Boston on Friday was ordered to serve a six-month jail sentence for an aggravated battery conviction.
Circuit Judge Charles Burton ordered the sentence, likening Boston’s “violent act” to "Mike Tyson hitting you," the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Boston, 34, last month pleaded guilty to the felony charge that resulted from a Nov. 30, 2011, incident involving a female friend at a home in Boca Raton.

Authorities say Boston had been drinking at the home when he punched a woman twice in the head.

Boston was a star at Ohio State and went to the Pro Bowl with the Arizona Cardinals in 2001. He also played for the San Diego Chargers and then the Miami Dolphins before injuries and legal problems ended his career.

to Think that he was one of the primere wr's before he came to miami and his career went south in a hurry i cant beleive its been almost 10 years but that 2004 team sure had a lot of injuries that year.

I was so pumped when we signed him, and then he got hurt in the first preseason game I believe (might have been in practice?). Never saw the light of day in a real game here.

Never so much has been written over so little .He looked good in shorts...roid assisted.... and some fans were drooling that somehow that meant he was a good football player.Call it the Gholston syndrome if you will .

That was another busted trade by Speilman. He was damaged goods when he arrived here .

It is somewhat Dolphin related .The theory is that if you dont like a thread leave it alone.By posting in it you are giving the thread you dont like more life.Bad threads disappear soon enough if fans ignore it.There is no obligation to post in every thread.

Boston was an absolute beast when he played for Arizona so its not too hard to see why some fans were hopeful he would return to his old form. Speilman traded a 6th round pick for him so it was pretty much a low risk/high potential trade. Those don't always work out in your favor but when they do you look like a genius.

I remember really hating that Spielman's answer to the Ricky Williams dilemma was to count on a guy like David Boston so much. As I said back then, he was a triple threat. He was an attitude/arrest risk, he was a drug/steroid risk, and he was an injury risk. Hence, Miami acquired him for a mere 6th round pick. So what happened in 2004? He blew out his knee, tested positive for steroids, and got arrested for assaulting an airport security employee.
