The fact that a thread was created to commemorate a good game says everything you need to know about Henne.
Was busy doing Honey-Do stuff all afternoon w/ no Dolphin game, and came in to see Henne's stats, and I'm like, whoa!! Yes, he did have a couple monster games for us early on, but I was still surprised, especially when I saw the length of some of his TDs. Then, I saw the highlights. And while - yes - good for him, he made the passes, his two long TDs were all about his receivers making the play, and turning them into even bigger plays. Good for him, and not trying to take much away from him. But he was still below a 50% completion percentage, and I think it was more about his receivers turning his passes into big plays than the other way around. Point being, good for Chad - I wish him well - but it's not like I think he's going to make us rue the day we let him go. Chad had awesome games for us too, but there's a reason we began to loathe his play at the end, and couldn't wait for his replacement. I'm sure that Chad will show up soon too. That said, he'll probably make a nice long career out of being a sought-after, quality back-up QB!
Henne is what he is. He's a guy you can win with if you have enough around him, but not a franchise guy who carries a team. In a system with good play calling and sound use of constraint plays he can be productive. That's what he was when he was here as well.
To me the take away from that game is a Vet Qb can use their weapons more effectively than a young Qb does. Blackmon was a non factor most of the yr, Henne simply allowed him to make plays for him something Gabbert and our Tannehill have trouble doing at this point in their careers.
Hartline perhaps? Blackmon had a whopping 200 yds going into that game..gee...think Qb play effects Wr output?
He was just constrained (hand cuffed) in Hennings offense and Sparano's philosphy. He was barely used to his strengths.
Nah, Henne is a decent, but limited Qb, he lacks balls Bro. I like Chad Henne's game and have said many times he can start and win in this league, but until and unless he grows past this he will be a 1.8-1 td to int guy, he'll rack up yards but will struggle in the RZ.
We were all wrong about Henne He is not an emotionless robot sent to kill all humans. He is clearly smiling behind his cup and his stache.
This iPad never lets me see those little thingamajig icons..can you post it FF? Hey, did I see Brandon fields rockin the hitler/Jordan Stache?, I know I saw it on a punter, I believe it was fields lol.
He has got to learn to squeeze his nuts together if he wants to hold on to the ball. A drill that should be run in every defensive practice.
Oddly enough most Dolphins fans feel exactly this way at this point in the season.. I still like Henne's game, to me JVille w/Henne/MJD/Blackmon would have won more games so far this year.
Henne can play football but the problem is he can also be a dummy three or four or five times a game.
Imo, just in isolation, Henne was improving as a QB..and was surrounded by an incredible difficult set of variables, and poor performances.
Good Qb makes those around him better not the other way around That said, Henne can play Qb, always thought that, imo he is a sort of Phil Simms type of slow developing Qb.
He will have a nice long career in the NFL. Most of it will be in the backup role, and there nothing wrong with that imo
Well I for one and rooting all the way for Henne and his career. I've liked him since his Michigan days and I liked it when we drafted him. I do think we needed part ways and I felt that would be better for both sides. I'm glad to see him getting some playing time in Jacksonville and I certainly am rooting for him to become their starter and get them back to winning. I just don't see the point in rooting against him. Henne never did anything to make me dislike him. He's certainly a better option than Gabbert going forward and he's still young enough to consider a part of the future for that team. Certainly a very good backup QB to have and probably a starter on more teams than one would think. You could make the case that Henne would probably get a shot as a full time starter in Philadelphia, Arizona, possibly the Jets, Cleveland, Tennessee, Kansas City, and of he's getting his chance in Jacksonville.
jet fans would give their left nut for Henne at this point..who is a guy who has an NFL arm, unlike the guy they have.
Yes, and those variables were known as Tony Sparano and the Miami Dolphins coaching staff. It's not a coincidence that Mr Fist Pump went to NY and now Sanchez is sporting the worst numbers in football...only our beloved Tony can ruin an offense so completely. I am actually stunned that we've had over 100 posts here yet nobody has brought up Henne driving us 70 yards, only to have a run up the middle on 1st down, the wildcat on 2nd, a dropped TD pass by Marshall on 3rd down and the fist-pump formation to cap off the drive. This only happened like....every drive we had over the past three seasons....I can easily see how some would overlook it. With that said, I would have loved for Henne to get a training camp with Philbin's squad and the chance to actually develop as an NFL quarterback under solid coaching. With his arm and NFL smarts, he will certainly make a career QB somewhere in the years to come.
Henne will NEVER be an effective top caliber starting NFL QB. And,we should all be thankful the problem is no longer ours.
