Yep. PC gaming is far cheaper in India. Not to mention, most NCOs like me get popped around a lot across the country, to be comfy always lugging a console. PCs, on the other hand is always available. And being funded by the MoD, its a free run.
Console players are lucky, in the sense that they got Halo, Killzone, Gears of War, God of War, and a whole lot of superb games.
I think the other thing going for console gaming is not having to worry about having a fast enough machine to process certain games, quirky computer type issues, etc. The downside is that PC gaming is miles ahead toward the end of the console life cycle (where we are right now with Xbox360 and PS3) and probably even earlier than that.
This. "New" consoles are usually based on technology that's already a couple of years old. The PS3 uses a customized version of a GPU that had already been out for 12-18 months prior to its release. This is why I'm not impressed when someone says "mobile devices are going to be as good as consoles in a couple of years". Great, your device in 2015 will be as good as a device from 2005!
I don't play the COD campaigns... they're not very fun IMO. So I can only speak on multiplayer... Multiplayer is god awful... And the thing is, there is so much potential for it to be great. I don't mind the leveling up stuff, not a big deal to me... I do like the fact that certain attachments are former perks. Like laser sight being steady aim pro... Tons of **** to customize based on your play style. Gun balance seems legit. I like the wildcard perks too. You can add ****, but must subtract things. Again, good solid customization. Best of any COD so far. That said, if you don't pull host, you can go **** yourself. I'm routinely emptying clips into guys, getting tons of hit markers, and still being killed. Watching the kill cam, it's easy to see why... On my screen, my shots register. On my opp. screen, I'm not even firing but 2 rounds or so. Seriously unacceptable bull****. I was a 1.6 kd player in Mw2 (first COD game, so that number is lower than what I'm really capable of), 2.28 in blops 1, and a 2.2 kd player in MW1. MW3 was a joke and I didn't play it but a month or so. MW3 lag compensation was truly terrible. I'm not sure what Treyarch did to **** things up, but I'm already bored of multiplayer. I don't have a fair chance in any gun fight. I played Zombies a little bit today. At least they got that right. Had a blast playing... Once I figure out the bells and whistles, I could see myself spending all my time playing that.
So anyone else who is playing, what's your class layout look like? I've been trying a bunch of different things but haven't found a perfect layout yet. Using Overkill with most. Except the class with the triple perk MP7. That gun is pretty solid with good fire rate and damage, and big standard clip size. I'm trying to level it up to unleash rapid fire. I was doing great until I leveled up to about 30 and now the competition is wiping the floor with me. I've hit a plateau. Time to get over the "hump".
Yeah, I'm about to buy it for the multiplayer, is it worth it? I read online that the multiplayer is best they've done since the first Modern Warfare (IMO the best COD ever).
Beat the campaign. I have one good thing to say about it: your actions actually do have ramifications on the plot and game itself. It's still an awful game, but based around a good idea.
The Strike Force missions are universally garbage. The first is the absolute worst, too, so it discourages you from playing the slightly-less-bad subsequent missions. They would be better if the AI wasn't trash. You wind up having to take control of a unit manually and Rambo everything to succeed.
Yeah, the lag compensation is destroying this game. Way too many times am I getting the drop on people, firing first only to have it show on the killcam after dying that I never fired a shot. Unbelievable. A broken controller later and I'm about done with this whole ****ing game. Back to Halo 4.
Like I said, the first one is the absolute worst. You wind up just taking control of a couple of units manually, even though it means you don't get the challenge. Not that the others are any better, but they at least don't force you to play defense.
Yes, but it's implemented differently this time around. It reveals how awful the game's AI is, just for starters. The subsequent missions where you go on offense are better, but that's like saying being punched in the balls is better than falling into a volcano.
Sounds unpleasant either way. BTW, speaking of RTS... do u play Company of Heroes. If so, do u know any good site for custom maps?
No, I don't. Not anymore. IMO, Age of Empires II and Total Annihilation were the pinnacle of the genre. Everything else feels hollow.
AOE2 was a great game, spent way to many hours on that. Looking forward to Rome Total War 2, which has some RTS type elements if you play the battles. Agreed about the Strike Mission - I got the game for the single player (not big on multiplayer, and my company offered the game at a huge discount). Was somewhat enjoying myself till that first strike mission. Got my *** handed to me trying to control stuff instead of playing the soldiers, turned off the game and havent picked it up since. Poor poor execution on that.
Definitely. I wish it was more compatible with Windows 7, it's almost impossible to get it to run well. I may just have to install XP in a VM to keep playing it. Do what I did. Replay the mission, take manual control, and just wreck everything without regard for the challenges. Nice thing about Strike Force is that you can actually prevent yourself from having to play the last SF mission if you catch up to a certain bad guy during a story mission.
Try playing CoH once, if u haven't. The AI, graphics and gameplay is par excellence. I used to play AOE 2 till a subordinate introduced me to CoH.
Well, you're still going to need some tactics just because of the nature of the level. For example, the sentry gun at point A isn't enough on its own to defend the area, since it has to cover two points of assault simultaneously. So what I wound up doing was to take control of a soldier at B, use him to Rambo everything that attacked A, then switched to a solder at C to take care of the guys who were dropping in. I also controlled the sentry gun at B to take care of the enemy CLAW.
one would think I am bored of this game by now but noooooo... favorite weps include MSMC (I unlocked gold camo a couple of days ago) and SCAR... although the SCAR is really only used for larger maps. Most of the maps are relatively small. Aircraft carrier and the luxury yacht are my fav's. Anybody make prestige master yet?
PS3... I saw Skeet on there a couple of weeks ago... he was complaining about everyone on his team sucking. I must say I've played online quite a bit and he's the only guy I've heard complain like that. It's interesting.
To be fair, people on PS3 generally suck (no offense). I'm not saying you're bad but the general population is much worse. From my experience (I'm just decent, close to a 1.1 k/d), if you don't have a party of 3-4 of solid players then forget about winning. Usually when I play by myself, I am among the top players with a 1.5-1.75 k/d but we wind up losing by 20-25 kills. Especially this time of the year with the Christmas Noobs playing and usually you get 2-3 of them in a lobby and usually a team of 5-6 players come in. Who gets the Christmas noobs? Me. I tend to just play with Stitches, Skeet, and a few others though. We usually win when we all play together considering our worst player is probably a tie between me and another guy (both around 1.1 k/d).
well, you guys are too good for me. I didn't reset my stats, I'm under 1 k/d... Silver_Hornet13 I don't have any friends... Oh I don't have a comm either.
