In 1997 the Dolphins got a new look/logo. They went from to Now i know a lot of people like the current logo and don't want to see it changed. Those who did, what were your thoughts when Miami updated their logo in 97? if you hated it at first, did it grow on you? It was a drastic change, the biggest change in our identity ever so I am curious of what Fans felt during that season
The original logo was horrible to the point it is was borderline irresponsible to make it the logo of a million dollar franchise. It looks like it was a copy of a copy of a copy. The quality of the dolphin is just terrible. It literally looks like a turd.
LOL yeah just put a giant orange M on the helmet lose the dolphin and lets move on. The old one may look like a kindergardner drew it but the current one looks like Cartoon network made it. So there has to be a happy medium.
but if he's wearing a helmet with the logo of him wearing a helmet with a logo.. is that logo still the M?
I never thought the change was all that drastic. To me it was nothing more than making the dolphin cleaner and more detailed.
Cardnals is cartoony too, and i under stand what ur saying but. How many angry Dolphins do you see though? It's like ND's mascot, an angry Leprechaun putting his dukes up, or the Cleveland Indians offensive looking version of an Indian. I agree NE's old logo looked cartoony, the new one looks more stoic to me, i don't see anything wrong in the Seahawks because is there even such think as a seahawk other than its a NW Native American symbol? You don't see a facial expression on Atlanta's Falcon or the Lions. We arent talking about other teams logo's we are talkin about the Phins. To me imo get rid of the angry Dolphin and replace it with what the dolphin represents, speed. I'd say intellegence but i dont wanna see a Grad cap and diploma on it. lol. In the end it's just a logo right?
Did anyone see how cool our jerseys looked in buffalo...I really love that jersey and uni..It's the white jersey that needs to be changed imo, and if I never see the green ugly pants again that will be cool with me.
Didn't really notice it in '97 til a few games in. This is before I really started reading Dolphin news on the Internet, and before I joined forums, etc. Not like I had advance notice, living up in Upstate NY. By the time I did notice it, I actually liked it a lot. I liked the old logo too - always had it on the window of my cars - but I never realized just how old looking it was until I saw the current one. I'm hoping my reaction to next year's change is equally as positive.
I pulled a Rob Dyrdek ang binged "angry dolphin". It came back with a bunch of pictures of Chad Johnson.
Question is, did they pay Marino and Griese to say they "nailed it" w/ the new logo, or did they say it honestly. Let's hope the latter.
Just the color scheme oz, not steer away from the white..it's the other colors on the white that I don't like.
The shadow box numbers need to go. That's about it to me There is nothing like seeing ol Zonk trucking down the field with 5 guys on him and those pearly whites full of dirt or mud..
I gotta say, the more I look at the logo Ozzy posted the more I love it. It's got all the main features it's always had and it's very clean.
You're a big anti-cartoony dude. This logo is right down your alley. Very similar to what it is now, just without all the extra detail.
If someone made a logo of the Dolphin swallowing a Jet, slapping a buffalo with a fin, and smacking a patriot upside the head with its tail I think we would have a winner.
I don't understand what that is. That white space in the front throws me off I guess. I can't tell what exactly I'm looking at. It looks like Microsoft's new Metro UI they're putting on everything. Just seems 'flat'. I don't like it, which means the new logo will be just that. Ross has said the changes will be subtle. We'll see.
Exactly why I said "watch it be this" Although with some tweaks this could actually end up being the direction they go...
Mods: Can we get a sticky and consolidation for all the Uni/Logo threads? This is gonna be a very hot topic this offseason, and some of us will base our decision to spend Hundreds of dollars on it.
Now for some news: I am pretty connected with the design/graphic artist community down here and this is a pretty big thing for them, and they assure me that the mockups of the logo are MANY and the ones that have seen them say that there are some really good ones, and some that are downright grotesque. Naturally, It is almost a given that we will get one of the ones that is grotesque. They do tell me that the changes range from subtle, to drastic.
This website has some real subtle tweaks to the logo.
