Ryan Tannehill had an awful game, and the offense wasn't going anywhere. I don't know if you can couch in him being a rookie, since it was markedly worse than pretty much anything this season. It's not so much I don't think the interceptions as it was just an overall lack of performance. The third one was as bad a decision as he's made as a Dolphin, but he got pretty well ****ed over on what should have been a PI call on the Fasano, and the first was a tipped pass.

I think it's a good sign that Philbin is holding Reggie Bush accountable for his decision making. He's turned back into New Orleans Reggie Bush. I think at this point the Dolphins really need to make sure they know what they have in Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller, because they've got to make some choices at runningback.

Daniel Thomas doesn't look like a real winner as a draft pick, but I think there's a good chance he sticks around a while as a 3rd down back. He blocks and catches pretty well.

The wide receivers were pretty much what you expect of them week in and week out. I do think it's a bit noteworthy that Davone Bess is getting quite good at making up for his size by going up for the ball and being able to catch outside of his frame so well. Jabar Gaffney was on the field a lot, but it still seems like he's really not at all up to speed.

Offensive line had a better game, and I think a pretty solid one in pass protection. If the Titans have anything to recommend themselves defensively, it's their pass rush. Jake Long had a pretty good game against a quality pass rusher, and Jonathan Martin didn't really get anyone killed. Tannehill took a big hit on one play, but it was really strange in that Tannehill looks at the defenders showing blitz, seems to hesitate on making an adjustment call, doesn't, then gets killed on the play.

I think the fundamental theme of Richie Incognito's career is that he's not a good enough football player to get away with being as big of an ******* as he is. He's not bad, but he's pretty average for the amount of attention he draws to himself and a lot of time his dirty play isn't helping the team out.

I think it in a way it's good the Defense had their streak rubbed in their face, because it doesn't seem like the intensity and focus has been there for a couple weeks now. The big plays came on cutbacks that were somewhat ill-disciplined, but the front-side defense really wasn't all that good either. I think they've been coasting for a bit.

I'm kind of curious about Koa Misi seemingly being rotated with Jason Trusnik. Misi had a very hot start to the season and has cooled down, and Trusnik has been pretty good rotating in.

I think it's hard to be too critical of the pass defense when an opposing quarterback completes 9 passes for 122 yards. A fair amount of that was on clearly lapsed plays, but overall the job was properly done.

    Go Brandon Fields!

Yeah i'm sorry Disgustipate, but i cannot give a pass to that O-line. They did not play well. How many times are we going to keep seeing a free rusher getting a clean look at the QB? What about the litany of penalties that kept stalling offensive plays? How about the complete lack of push on rush blocking?

Sorry, this O-Line has too many high picks to be playing as poorly as it is. And mind you, this is not a one time thing. They have been playing awful since the start of the season.

I was at the game today (lucky me). I went with a buddy of mine that is a Titans fan so you could tell he was happy.

    My quick thoughts:
    - Wind was kicking up a lot. Don't know if that influenced anything.

-Those blocking in the back fouls during kickoffs/returns were so blatant and dumb. Shot themselves in the foot before they even started the drive.

    - I saw Reggie Bush for the first time as overrated. My opinion, do not re-sign him. He spent (what seemed to me ) a lot of time on the sideline.

    - Agree with 'Pate about Incognito. Took the momentum out of Thomas' run with that penalty. Did you notice he was taken out after that dumb 15 yard penalty and was kept on the sidelines for a few plays? Garner went in for him. They had to rush Big Jake in to block on the right side for the field goal to then spend a time out to take Jake back out and put Incognitio back in.

-Seems we reverted back to the Sparano days of calling timeouts very quickly.

-Disagree with 'Pate somewhat about Fields. He looked to shank some punts today. Might have been the wind.

-All in all, love reading the post game recap, brother. Keep up the good work.

The stadium was also a morgue today. At least half empty. I've been to preseason games with more people in the stands .

I don't really know anything about special teams, but I was under the impression with the wind like that you can't really blast straight into it, you've got to angle it and as a result it would reduce distance.

Re-signing Reggie Bush at 4-5+ million per year would be downright stupid, IMO.

You get the same production out of Thomas and/or Miller. And you could get the same production out of a FA RB for < 1 million per season.

At this point you sign Bush for whatever the value is of a player who has the role of catching passes in space, which is what he was limited to on the Saints.

Well, I thought the team was flat, and possibly out coached for the first time this year.

They had answers for everything we tried on every unit, without emotion to give us an edge, you saw 37-3 for a reason.

I'm going to make it a mission to watch the game tape again this week. That was what initally looked like a poor deflated effort all round. It was uninspired play by every player out there. It was flat from go to woe. Disappointing...no effort...no energy...no heart.

The Titans came back after a shocking performance against the Bears and the Fins better do the same next game!

The only problem with that is they've got a Thursday night game on the road - they've got no time to stew, no time to form an effective gameplan, and they're going into hostile territory. Home teams winning on Thursday night is as close to a sure thing as it gets in the NFL (so long as you're not the Jags), and while the Bills D is terribad, the Dolphins O is just as inept..

the team was heartless, it seems they were their to collect a check and nothing more. it is one thing to go out and give it your best against a team that is superior in talent and lose. then it is to go against a team whose starting qb hasnt played in 5 weeks, goes a sanchez like 9/21 and lose by 5 touchdwons. the team was gutless, im sorry to say it and i hate to say it, this felt like 2010 when the dolphins laid down for the patriots backups

    the oline got worked
reggie bush cannot hold onto a ball
where did the running game go?
    the secondary is a mess
    where is the run defense?

i understand tannehill did not play great, but i dont think he was horrible either, the pick six was a tip, and the second pick should have been PI or holding or illegal contact, if that was gronkowski or hernandez getting mugged their would have been 10 flags on that play.

the third pick was all on tannehill no defending that one.

Trust me Reggie will want more than $ 4 to 5 million a year. I think he's gonna want $ 6 million per year for 5 years. I would sign him for 2 at $ 10 at the most.

Yup, which is ~ 1 million per season. Dime a dozen player

And, I'm not so sure that Daniel Thomas hasn't done just as well at catching passes out of the backfield this season as Reggie Bush

You guys are crazy. Reggie is still our best running back. He had a 1,000 yard season last year and was on a tear this year until the injury. If there was a hole I'm sure Reggie wouldn't be dancing.

It was only last week he had that dazzling run for a TD.

Thomas has to be the 0.5 yard line to run it in ;)

Understood, brother but why was he on the sideline for most of the time after the fumble? Incognito when in after a series for his penalty. Couldn't have been just to teach him a lesson for his fumble.

There are a whole lot of holes Bush has missed. His vision has been awful for a while now. Last week they ran him almost entirely off of man blocking plays to try and make it easier and be didn't get it done. He deserved to be benched.

I am no longer even considering the playoffs this year. All I am looking for the rest of this year is improvement. Not occasional improvement, but steady, obvious improvement. Today's big loss against the Titans is a big step backward in my opinion. This was a home game for our Dolphins and there was absolutely no home field advantage and should be an embarrassment for the players, coaches and the owner. If things don't start getting much better after this Ross is going to have to take a hard look at this team at the end of the year. I don't have any answers, but there's got to be some answers somewhere.

I usually never complain about this kind of thing but the crowd was embarrassing today. We are fighting for a playoff spot with a promising young QB and that's the kind of crowd we get? Not to mention it seemed like a beautiful day as well.

Reggie Bush is a goner. I could see Philbin gradually fazing him out as the season progresses and we are officially eliminated from the post season, and I'd have no issue with it. I want to see Lamar Miller get carries and see if he can handle the work load. It's a 2 back league anyway so he will not have to carry it 25 times a game. Let's see if he can handle the 16-18 carry, 45 snaps a game work load. I like him as a runner. He has a good burst and appears to have nice vision.

I am not as down on Daniel Thomas as some. The guy is running harder since Philbin got after him publicly. He can block and catch the ball. Like Dis said, I think he has a spot as a 3rd down back and an occasional runner.

Tannehill had "one of those days". It was the type of day where a running game would have helped. Unfortunately, we did not have a running game. I have no doubts about him though.

Our guards are horse ****. I can't wait for Incognito to be gone and there has to be an upgrade for John Jerry out there. Ireland is going to have to break the bank on the best available free agent guard.

Our defense does not make enough plays. Karlos Dansby could have changed this game if he catches that ball that hit him in the hands.

Are we the worst team in the league at getting the quarterback on the ground once we lay a hand on him?

What was with our over pursuit today? I can't remember a time when we have had less lane discipline on defense.

Jared Odrick was dogging it out there today.

    Cam Wake was not.

Our corners are HORRIBLE when the ball is in the air. Sean Smith is a good player but I am terrified of what kind of contract he may receive. Am I wrong in thinking that Nolan Carrol is turning into a serviceable corner?

We need another safety, Chris Clemons is trash.

Joe Philbin is now challenged as a head coach for the first time in my opinion. We are coming off a horrible loss and have a short week. We were SO flat today, that goes to coaching and being properly prepared. As with Tannehill, I don't doubt Philbin but the coaches as with the players need to be better.

There was a heavy fog of confident optimism in the air last night, and perhaps may have also slightly shaded some of the coaches, regarding their outlook in preparing for both the Titans, and Bills this week.
While its the same team that recently enjoyed a three game winning streak, its also nearly the same one, a QB removed, from the team we had last year, and would appear that when this coaching staff, and their approach to preparing this team falls short in any way of continually masking the latter, it becomes all too apparent.
I think its fairly plausible to conclude our last two opponents performed much better than most would have expected.

Heres hoping they've over-prepared for Buffalo.

I guess this needs repeating. This town isn't buying the Dolphins and won't until they show they deserve the love. This is not on the fans, it's on the Dolphins. Don't go there.

For many, many years Dolphins fans have bought tickets in hopes of a turn-around and their hearts have been broken every time. Eventually people just give up hope and are mad.

There is also the Jeff Ireland thing. And for those that don't believe that's a factor, you must have the same hearing & sight that Ross must have. Because all you need to do is listen to sports talk radio in this town. That guy is toxic.

no its not the team, its the city of miami that doesnt give a eff....cleveland, kansas city, oakland.....fully packed..every freaking game, if you wanna have a packed stadium as a dolphins owner its probably only possible in LA and so be it, its so frustrating to see this empty stadium every week and then watch a seattle home game right after that

It's both ganging up on us...The team has sucked pretty consistently for a couple decades, has had major letdowns at critical moments to try and build culture and trust, and, the building is the worst in the league..bad combination..

The Dolphins suck and have sucked for two decades. They are in the city of Miami where you can spend your money on other things. Cleveland, Kansas City, and Oakland are exactly hotspots for fun things to do. Miami has the beach, clubs, the Heat, and tons of **** to do on the ocean. Why the hell would you go pay to have your heart broken every week. We are hardcore fans on this board and we do it. You have to realize that you are competing for money in a city like Miami. The Dolphins simply are not competitive for that dollar right now.

Also, remember how terrible this offseason was? That has left a bad image for the Dolphins.

I once couldn't imagine the Dolphins ever leaving, nor the league ever condoning such a move, but now, amid scant support, teeming hoards of New York transplants, and countless attempts to right the ship, if Philbin an Co. fail in their efforts... I wouldn't want the team going anywhere else other than here to LA, hopefully as more of a temporary sabbatical, as the Raiders once did.

Do you realize how bad the attendance is in Tampa? They have had 1 home game televised locally the last 2 years.

Take a look at San Diego's attendance the last few years.

Attendance is a problem all over the NFL. It is not just a Dolphins problem. The NYJ have been on the verge of blackouts a few times this season, which should be impossible given the market size.

The home experience has become far to good, and the product far too bad in many cities to make attending the games worthwhile.

I'm a season ticket holder and was at the game, and yes, it would be great if the palce were full, but the Dolphins have sucked too mayn people dry over the alst 10 years that I can't blame them for staying away.

If Philbin is set on employing a 3 back rotation then we should start using Reggie like the Saints use Sproles---- put him on return duties [where he's even better than Thigpen] and get him heavily involved in the passing game. After all, it's not like we're currently flooded at the WR position.

Plus it would be a nice boost to his fantasy stats for leagues that use return yards. :shifty:

Indeed, I'm 30 minutes away from where they would be.
My point however, is "only" if they left, I would prefer it here, rather than elsewhere.
The LA Dolphins? It would be the worst day ever as a Dolphan, and just above the
    Mexico City, or Montreal Dolphins.
