If Jake Long makes the pro bowl this year is a friggin joke and more proof the entire thing is a farse. When he was on IR and made it last year that was a friggin sin.

We were not great today but just the same it was a good game. A few more things go our way, we get the W.

Thats why I put up what I did. Not pissed at anyone for the loss today but its getting pretty evident, Jake is no longer the Jake we all want him to be. I am told he is leading in pro bowl voting again. I cannot verify that but as I said, if he makes the pro bowl its a joke and no, do not ask me who is better then him because this year there are quite a few.

The one player who will make the pro bowl this year though is Brandon Marshall. He had nine catches today for 122 yards and 3 TD's. Unfortunately he did it for the Bears and not the Dolphins. Of course Egnew, the player taken in the third round with one of the picks from the Bears for Marshall, looked good standing on the sidelines in civilian clothes. Maybe one of these days his will actually be active for a Dolphin regular season game.

Every time I see the stats he is putting up for the Bears. I can't help but wonder how much better the Dolphins passing offense would be if Tannehill had him as his primary receiver. Like him or not, he is far better than any other receiver on the Dolphins at this time.

I agree that he didn't play well enough last season to deserve the pro bowl vote, but you made a big point to mention his being on IR when the vote was announced. Silly Billy. I was just pointing out that his going on IR was irrelevant to the voting.

Yes he did. When they showed the Dolphins sideline yesterday, he was standing there in civilian clothes looking like he was completely lost. Perhaps that is why he has been inactive this entire regular season.

I think my analysis is very pertinent. I merely pointed out that Ireland screwed up when he traded the best WR on the Dolphins for a player who can't even make the active roster. Another major error for the Ireland regime.

So basically as far as your concerned all it takes to win is talent. Obviously for you and all the others, nothing else matters, just talent.

Forget everything that Philbin has done so far, all of that is stupid and pointless and doesn't mean ****. Forget discipline. Forget professionalism. Forget buying into the system. Forget being right for a system. Hell, forget systems altogether. All you need is talent, that's it, nothing more. Every talented player should be brought in. I doesn't matter if they have issues. Who cares? Talent, talent, talent. Punch his wife? Who cares if he has talent. Breaks laws? Who cares if he has talent. Destroys continuity in the locker room? LOL who cares, continuity in the locker room is pointless all you need is talent. He makes it impossible to coach? Who cares if he has talent. Drops 5 TDs? Who cares if he has talent. Forces your offense to become one dimensional otherwise he throws tantrums on the sideline? Who cares if he has talent.

Nothing in football matters but talent according to you guys. **** guys like Zach Thomas who were successful because they work harder then anyone else, he wasn't talented so he sucked.

Hell forget the fact our offense sucked & our team sucked with Marshall. Who cares he has talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talented players are just interchangeable puzzle pieces. They fit anywhere, anytime and under any circumstance. Right guys?????

IIRC, Marshall has been targeted more than the rest of the Bears combined, and he's obviously NOW happy b/c of it. Do you think he'd be happy here in a difference style offense that's predicated upon spreading the ball around to where his targets would be cut nearly in half, or do you think he'd revert back to the same disgruntled Marshall we saw last year when he was often a distraction to the team to the extent of speaking poorly about Matt Moore's QB ability on numerous occasions (as recently as the Pro Bowl)? Coach Philbin had as much or more to do with Marshall being traded as Ireland, and it was for specific, acceptable reasons. Jeff didn't just mosey into Philbin's office and announce, "Hey Joe, there's something I've been meaning to tell you. What was it...ummm... oh yeah, we traded Brandon Marshall today."

What you've done is successfully remove the human factor, ala Madden Football style, by assuming everything he's doing in Chicago, including his seeming attitude change through the midway mark, would've been duplicated here despite Brandon's volatile mental state and past in Miami pointing to a different conclusion.

I have no idea why anyone thinks this offense is predicated on spreading the ball around. I just looked at the latest passing stats for the Dolphins. The Dolphins have completed 153 passes in the latest stats listed by ESPN in 2012. Of the 153 passes completed, Hartline and Bess have caught 79 of those passes. The rest of the backs, receivers, and TE's have caught 74 total passes. This means two receivers have caught over 50% of the passes completed so far this season.

With Marshall on the team last year. He and Bess, the teams two leading receivers, combined to catch 132 of the 280 passes completed by the Dolphins in 2011. This was less then 50% of the completed passes.

Based on the statistics, it appears that the offense this year is less reliant on spreading the ball around to different receivers than it was when Marshall was a member of the team. I guess this" spread the ball around" offense sounds like a new approach to the offense, until you actually check the facts. The facts just don't match the propaganda spread by those who say this is an offense built around spreading the ball around to different receivers. If only two receivers are going to get the ball thrown to them most of the time, as has been happening. Yes, I would rather one of those receivers be Marshall.

Perhaps it makes sense because I actually took the time to look at the Dolphins stats for all of 2011 and the latest stats for 2012. Perhaps if you would also take the time, instead of making up stuff yourself, you could get your facts straight.

By the way, if you can't figure out how to find the stats for 2011 and 2012. Go to ESPN and put in Miami Dolphins Statistics for 2012. It will show you their stats for this year so far and they also list their stats for previous years. Perhaps when you see it in black and white, it will make sense to you.

Probably from that guy named Joe Philbin.

Yeah? And? What's your point? Is that happening by open choice or is it b/c they've essentially been our only 2 receivers? Why don't you look up Packer offensive stats the past few years, including how the team appears to be set up at the WR position, and you tell me what the distribution should look like.... or you could just listen to what Philbin himself has said about it.

Exactly, and he wasn't very happy here when he couldn't be Mr 100 catches and with Matt Moore rather than Jay Cutler throwing him the ball. Thank you for helping make my point??

Stats schmats. Like I said, we've essentially only had 2 receivers to throw to so of course the distribution will appear skewed. You understand how the math of this works, correct?... that less receivers=less ability to spread it around?

I feel like I'm talking to a coconut. Obviously there wouldn't be just 2 receivers if Marshall were here, so he couldn't be "one of the two" receiving all the passes; he'd be one of the 3 because when you add 1 + 2 you get 3, not 2..... or you'd have 4 (3 + the addition of Gaffney).... or 5 when Matthews is ready.... or 6 after we draft at least one next year.... and then we're back to Philbin's style of offense where the passing distribution caps the top receiver's production at around 70ish receptions, a level that'd be catastrophic for Marshall. Then compare that to his current pace of 118 catches.

If you actually did then like I said, you don't understand what you're talking about.

You said we spread the ball around more with Marshall. That is wrong. 100% wrong.

    Marshall had 81 catches.
    Bess had 51 catches
    Hartline had 35 catches
    Bush had 43 catches
    Fasano had 32 catches.

There is no possible way to see those numbers and defend your point. None.

Actually, it's worse than that. This year Hartline has so far recieved 27% of overall targets. Bess has received 25% of overall targets, and Fasano has been targeted 15% of the time on overall pass attempts. Last year, Marshall was targeted 31% of the time, Bess (the #2) was targeted 17% of the time, and Hartline 14% of the time. Marshall was targeted as much as the next two receivers combined in last year's offense, whereas this year it's much closer between the top 2. Still, I'd rather have Marshall here than not.

Based on the percentage of the passes caught by the two leading receivers this year, compared to last season, the Dolphins most definitely spread the ball around more last year. I guess the two leading receivers catching less than 50 % of the completions last year as compared to the two leading receivers catching more than 50% of the passes this year is just too hard for you to compute.

I can defend my numbers all day. I just can't stand arguing the point with you anymore, because you would recognize the facts if they were printed on your head. have a nice day.

    Chicago pass distribution
    Marshall: 59 catches
Forte, Bennett, Jeffery, Hester, Davis: 73
    **makes Brandon happy

Miami distribution under Daboll (which is less evenly distributed than Philbin's in GB IIRC)
    Marshall: 81
Bess, Hartline, Bush, Fasano, Clay: 177
    **makes Brandon sad

We don't want sad Brandon, which is likely the one we would've had.

I know they are thinking about changing the pro bowl, but only allowing one player to play seems odd... i mean Brandon Marshall does have many Brandon Marshalls in his head... and perhaps he thinks he could snap the ball to himself and then lob himself a pass, high point the catch, and then elude himself on the way to his endzone... but there's no way he can think that he can hold for the PAT and kick it at the same time... it's physically impossible.
