    http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...s-as-a-team-to-worry-about.html#storylink=cpy

"Even as preparations go forward and little seems different with the Dolphins on the surface, there is legitimate worry in the halls of the team's Davie, Fl. training facility. Joe Philbin, the personification of an even keeled sort, has seemed a bit tight this week, according to a couple of players I've spoken to privately.

"Not just [Philbin] but I think everybody," one player kidded. "The F-bomb count in practice has been a little higher than normal this week."

Philbin's shown some concern this week in that he asked players to do more than the usual amount of preparation for this game. That from a guy who wants his players doing a ton of preparation for every game anyway."

I can't wait to see how they respond....we've seen how they've responded the past three years in games like this, hopefully this team, doesn't need their coach to tell them that.

Oh, and I don't believe Philbins *** is tight..that could be a spin with no context for justification.

I think that's right on target on Philbin's part. This is a week that needs increased focus IMO.

Excellent... This is what a coach should do the week after a great win.

This is why Arsucko is a hack:

    First he says:
Which is saying that Philbin is always mum about the status of QBs.

But then Baby Jason Cole just can't resist:
Anyone catch that? He admits earlier in the article that its part of philbin's MO to not give too much away about the QB, then turns around and says he's being tight lipped with info because he's scared of the Colts.

Basically, you start an article that feels cautious but optimistic and it ends with doom and gloom. And that ladies and gentlemen is how we've all been manipulated slowly until we have 100 threads saying we are going to suck, before the first game is even played.

Exactly. This week is ripe for a "trap game" if you ask me, especially after crushing the Jets off a bye.

This week there are a few guys banged up, and the Colts are tough at home with wins over both Minnesota and Green Bay at the Oil Drum. This game, in my opinion, is key to seeing how Miami can respond the rest of the season, especially coming off big wins. As the article says, they, like Philbin, need to stay even-keeled.

Fin D...there is a preponderance of evidence that says at this time we should be worried about the colts....

Just kidding, friend...seriously, I sort of read the article the same way, however, I'm of the opinion that we should be worried about the dolts anyway.

As to the rest of the article, that says that Philbin is trying to amp up the guys to look harder at the colts, it speaks of his maturation as a HC. For all we know, he may be doing this because some of the staff seem a bit cocky to him...the bottom line is that this does seem to be a trap game for us, after a big victory over a team that was, at one time, considered a contending team and our arch enemy to boot. The colts have a lot going for them...national media, showing off their shiny new QB, coach recovering from cancer, team much better than anticipated, overtime victory last week and a core of players who have won big games in the past...

He has every right to be concerned. While this team has shown some resiliency by coming back strong after two hard losses in OT, we now find adversity in dealing with not being the dog, a less than 100% QB and a run game that struggles still...

This article came off as trying to portray to be almost scared to play. I think the writer is doing on purpose just for effect. I don't think Philbin is tight this week at all, he just wants his team to realize that they haven't done anything yet. Keep them on track. As to avoiding the quaterback conversation, every team does it. To say he is worried about the status of Tannehill like the author of this article said though is flat out making **** up. He has said before that he is just as comfortable going with Matt Moore.

No one is saying we should take any team lightly. We should take no team more or less seriously than any other.

The point is we've been manipulated by the press to have a certain view of the team over the years. The team and the media had a antagonistic relationship for awhile and it has grown worse exponentially starting with Saban.

Guys like Jason Cole and Ardoucheo have lead the charge. They will constantly write articles that follow the format I pointed out earlier. They'll do that until there's something to get a foot hold in. When that happens, like Harbaugh for example, they go ape**** and go full negative ******. After time, with not winning big, that turns the entire fan base against the team. Let's be honest, 7-9, 7-9, 6-10 are not the worst this team has played. Its not great but its close enough to average to not panic. But panic is what happened. My god, there was a freaking protest even....in year where we fired the coach and brought in a new regime. Its not like we were standing pat.

But thanks to the hate propaganda from the hacks, it escalated into ridiculousness that we still are dealing with.

Great coaches don't get caught in "trap" games. Let's see if ours is going to be great. His history seems like we need not worry.

There's concern and there's worry. The trick is to be concerned as possible without the nervous energy of worry to enter into the equation.

I think if we play as focused and intense as we've been playing, we should be able to control this game. Turnovers and Luck should be the only x-factors.

Anyone who thinks the Colts will be an easy win - is overlooking their quality football. Good QB play. No fear in the clutch. And, a solid D.

Maybe Philbin knows that the Dolphins haven't won a game after playing the Jets since Nick Saban was our coach. The Dolphins always lose in their next game following the jets.

The dolphins seem to blow their load with effort against the jets and then have little left the following week. Last time that happened was the arizona game. In the 2nd half and overtime of that game the Cardinals outscored Miami 24-7 -- the dolphins were clearly out of gas when it counted.

Philbin is a very organized guy and probably found out about this fact. Probably why he's saying what he's saying.

Since Nick Saban coach, every game the dolphins have played after the jets has indeed proven to be a "trap" game, resulting in a long string of losses. Lets hope its different this time.

As crazy as it sounds on any given year but this one...

The Colts being in the AFC, might hold the tie breaker for a WC spot if the Fins loose to them...

and I think that is what is on Philbins mind...

Ardoucheo...priceless Fin D...I love that. No more apt a nickname is there for that idiot. This goes way back with our local media. All trying to springboard themselves into national media gigs... I agree with you that these guys, particularly Ardoucheo and Cole, like to throw sh$^ against the wall and see what sticks, just to get a hit or someone to read their articles... Same type of thing that caused high-five gate and Saban to all but banish the local media...I thought that stuff was really caused by Saban, but have changed my mind...

Saban certainly didn't make things easy for the media or less confrontational. He more or less said, "Media I hate you all relative to yourselves and the hate I have for you."

But its more a sign of the times. The majority of major news networks are no longer reporting but editorial. Nothings gets people reading and complaining like negative stuff. Its the way of our world unfortunately.

I can understand why Philbin is more concerned about this game. Besides maybe Matt Schaub, Andrew Luck as a rookie is probably the best QB this team will face thus far. It will be a real test for our improved defense. This defense has had the luxury of playing mediocre to piss poor QBs so far this season (again, besides Schaub). If they can have a statement game against Luck, it will say a lot about them, IMHO. Or Luck might expose some cracks in the armor. Going to be a great game.

Guess Joe was a little smarter than some in not taking the colts lightly. What makes this loss hurt the most is that it did appear as tho the players read a little of the media's nice words and started to believe it...

Yeah well if they have any integrity and leadership ability at all, it'll be a wake-up call and they'll come out firing next week. This next game is going to say a lot about this team's character IMO.
