correct me if im wrong, but when he went to the patriots, they were the laughing stock of the league, had 4 straight losing seasons, and were even rumored to be leaving New England.

His final year in NE, they went to the SuperBowl

And when he left their record was

    10-6
    9-7
    8-8
    6-10

Same with the Jets and Giants, he left the Jets, Belicek was supposed to be the new HC, he called a press conference and quit and went to NE, the Giants were stuck with Ray Handley, and never recovered until the late 90's, and we see what the Jets have become...

so before he was in NE, they had 2 wins, then when he got there they had 6, 8, 9, and 10, which culminated in a superbowl appearance.

are you saying he didnt leave them in much better shape than when he came in?

i dont see how you can knock a coach that took a bottom feeder to the superbowl in 4 years.

This is the premise that I responded to:

As HC, I'm not knocking his performance, the premise that you quoted my post about was that Parcells "turned teams into SB Contenders" which is true..once, but the teams were not very good after he leaves them in three years or so.

As GM for the Jets he had mini Wanny type stats in the draft, so Parcells the Genius Player Personnel Director GM is not quite so.

In the ocean Dolphins are often caught in nets with Tunas.
Now the Dolphins appear to be on their way to net the Big Tuna.

For too many years this team has sorely lacked a respected football mind in the upper echelons of the org.

Parcells certainly fills that Bill....pun intended.

He will bring the Dolphins respectability again and he will attract some of the top GM ,coaching candidates and free agents. And dont forget he is Scott Piolis father-in-law too........probably the only person would could break him away from the Patriots.

This morning I wrote that I didnt think there would be major changes made to the regime because of Waynes H potential lame duck owners situation but all he really has to do is to talk it over with the potential minority owners and I dont think he will have trouble getting their approval for someone of Parcells stature.

To be frank I wont be upset if the current regime is fired as they havent showed me anything that would indicate that they are the future of this team.Parcells would make that evaluation and I will trust his judgement

Wow. Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, it's a big effort to improve our team's front office, which is very good...but OTOH, it's part and parcel of Huizenga's tendency towards hiring big names and thinking they can solve all our problems. I don't know whether Parcells will be a good VPFO...after all, he made his name as a head coach. How many head coaches move into the FO and do a memorable job?

Well....first thing..... I am soooo sick of the drama.

Second...we havent had a football guy in a long time over seeing things...and from what I can tell...thats the first thing most of us around here wanted to see.

Parcells is that guy. Im happy for the move. I hope it happens. Its a step in the right direction.

correct me if im wrong, but he took NE and NYG to the superbowl, and built the dallas team that is a serious contender.

i dont know how you can knock his performance with the Jets, the team was 1-14 before he arrived, 9-7 his first year then 12-4, when they lost to the eventual champion, broncos, in the playoffs.

please, tell me a job he had where he did not turn the team around.

your only argument against him is that his teams were bad 3-4 years after he lefT???????

SC also mentioned that Wayne H approached the Chin and was told that he not coaching this year, he wants to sit out another season.

Breaking News:Parcells to sign 4-year Deal and become VP of the Miami Dolphins

Hank just siad that Chris Mort has reported that Parcells will sign a 4year deal. The will get finalized, thanks to Huizenga staying committed to the team and not selling.

He leaves, the team goes downhill quickly, Dallas so far is the one exception.

From 12-4 to 8-8 or worse in two years.

Compare that to say Jimmie Johnson in both Miami and Dallas.

Damn. Why was I watching dumb ESPN News instead?

At the bottom of ESPN News, I caught the end of the statement. I think it said that the deal is agreed upon and expected to be completed within the next 48 hours.

big0mar, Parcells will have final say on picks & trades. Don't be fooled by the bs title. As a coach yes, it would be a no-brainer. As a decision maker... hell no.

Say what you want about Huizenga, but he continues to prove he will go to great lengths to get this club good football minds.

GMs contacts usually run through the following draft so unless there is a buyout Mueller will probably be involved in the next draft.
