That niner performance was a very nice display of no mercy, for four quarters..That's how you beat down an opponent, as a winning team.. So Bad Boyz..lets see if you truly are.. Stay juiced, stay angry, train harder, and remember your in 2nd place, and you ain't won sh&$ yet.. No mercy.
You will enjoy this , when Olivier Vernon was being interviewed one of the media mentioned how Cam Wake is a big fan of his , and immediately Vernon said he is a huge fan of Wake. He said he is always asking him how did you do that? when Wake makes an impactful play , he is in his ear .... so this off season you may get your wish DJ , we may have a grasshopper growing up . That would be a HUGE positive , similar bodies and OV just turned 22 ... lots ahead for a motivated player.
Miami is up to # 12 on ESPN'S power rankings! People are starting to notice the Dolphins. We need to play angry still just like DJ says. The media has no respect for you Miami, don't let them kiss up to you now. Play mad baby, play mad.
Yes, but it showed last week that a little bit of irritation helps motivate a team on a personal level. We just have the right coaches this time that can actually use that to their advantage. It appears this coaching staff knows how to channel emotion into focus...I'm loving it. I don't want them to lose that chip.
Not sure I wanna go here with you lol.. You think that beat down you saw last nite was just smart and confident in play..it looked to me like a bit of anger.? I relate it to this, we were angry this offseason when people were talkin and mockin..Why let our players forget it..
Yeah hostile is a good word..that's how I would describe the niners and the dolphins performances. I mean how can this edge be engrained in the mindset of a player, I'm just not sure if supreme confidence translates into a no mercy mentality where you wanna punish people in the fourth quarter when the game is already over.
So what you're saying is we should be trying to drive the opposing team's best player headfirst into the dirt at every opportunity? I'm half kidding. I thought that was being a little too physical at points last night, but part of that is on Fitz too,
Not necessarily that specifically, but it seems like that team is playing with more than just confidence, and I like the way our team played on Sunday, so I'm just thinking out loud, trying to understand the Roller coaster of how an athlete prepares themselves to play..
“When you’re playing against another team and they’re running their mouth, you’re going to go out and play harder. That’s part of the game,’’ said Miami center Mike Pouncey. “It feels good. We said during the week, if people are going to talk, we’re going to go out there and just play harder.’’
That is what Bear Bryant used to say on how he wanted his football players , mobile , agile and hostile . Apparently he got that from Jake Gaither a Florida A & M coach. Some things change , and others stay the same ... nice traits for a football player.
They may have been angry, but that does not mean it automatically meant they played better because of it. For all you know, had they not been angry they could have focused better and scored 45 pts.
Playing angry does not automatically equal playing harder. A large part of football is mental. A large part of taking tests in school is mental. Would you recommend taking a test while you're angry?
Was New England angry at St. Louis? You don't need all that stuff when you have a well prepared team.
Just like they could have been told not to play angry and it cost them the game..... Certain positions are good to have some anger behind them. Playing smart and confident are good but there is a lot more to it than that
“When you’re playing against another team and they’re running their mouth, you’re going to go out and play harder. That’s part of the game,’’ said Miami center Mike Pouncey. “It feels good. We said during the week, if people are going to talk, we’re going to go out there and just play harder.’’ Your example doesn't make sense to me..taking an exam, your still, Playing a violent sport, your at max energy expenditure.
I guess there are different ways to achieve maximum effort..having a hostile team of crazed dogs seems about right for this game... Test their intelligence, controlled anger is what it's all about.
I think you can have a team playing aggressively without being pissed off about anything. Just my opinion.
Take the example of Marines. From all the Marines I've been around, they all tell me that anger is before they start the prep for a patrol. In prep and on patrol, it's all business. From what I've been told, its all about focus, control, and relying on training and preparation. Marines got killed when someone got a hot head and let their emotions take control. Being emotional caused small mistakes and lapses in judgement. Playing confident and prepared leads to success. Anger may help sometimes, but its a double edged sword that can also hurt.
I never did say that they play angry because of something that someone said on the other team. You can see a lot of defensive players get their aggression from anger inside them...
My question would be… why does someone have to motivate you to play harder? isnt the fact you are playing a game for a living enough?
Of course, but this is a game of emotion, it's a job, not every player on both teams is starting with the same mentality and energy to begin the game, their not robots, and there are external factors that come into play.
I don't think matching intensity or physicality will be a problem with this roster. I'm just loving the smarts and concentration that's going with their tenacity...(sploosh!)
