Well, the truth is this does make us look bad. But, the impact is so low. Which is why I'm not that mad. What makes me angry is who fired him.

Maybe the Marlins can hire Bobby Valentine now? You know you keep the fun going?

Seriously I wonder who the next manager will be.

Joey Cora shown the door as well.....plus, they still owe 7.5M to Ozzie.....so he signs a 4yr deal and they show him the door after year 1? And they show H. Bell the door as well? Meaning, since the rift was between Ozzie and Bell, and Bell was traded away, the reading between the lines was that Ozzie was safe to move forward with his 4 yr plan....crazy ownership.

I think we burned that bridge already.

It was rumored a few weeks ago that Mike Lowell was a serious candidate for the job. I hope that's true, for teh lulz.

If you include interims, we have now had 6 managers since 06.

Actually, I don't think it was between Bell or Guillen. I think it was between Guillen or Beinfest, with Beinfest coming out alive.

I would never wish that fate on either former Marlin. Whoever takes the job is going to be what? The fourth or fifth manager in 4 seasons (I've lost count)?

Jesus ****ing Christ, I dont think there's any doubt how bad teh triumvirate for Loria/Beinfest/Samson are.
Honestly they deserve to get a doctorate in incompetence.
No one in sports has been that bad at their jobs, not Ireland, not Millen, not even Dan Gilbert.

But you're posting in this thread.

Firing Ozzie is such a meaningless move. Not just because it won't fix anything, but because the new manager won't fix anything either. The position has so little impact, and Loria apparently really believes that MLB managers are the difference between his crappy rosters missing or making the playoffs.

Same. Also because he's honest and fits well in this market, IMO.

Well, bring on Mike Lowell, I guess.

My first question would be why it took the ownership group/front office this much time to fire Guillen? It's been 3 weeks since the season ended, what's with the long wait? Did something happen or change their line of thinking since then? It just seems like Loria woke up and randomly decided to change managers.

    Red X is red.

Loria likely delayed his decision because of the remaining three years on the deal, but just couldn't help himself. The impulse to change managers was too much for him. He probably did exactly what you suggest, just woke up that morning and decided to fire Guillen.

Marlins sign Mike Redmond for 3 years to be their next manager.

This is the new "moneyball" of the MLB.

So who is the core of this team: Stanton, Bonifacio, Jacob Turner, and Reyes? I feel like Morrison and JJ are not here long term.

Just Stanton and Reyes. Possibly Fernandez in the future if he's the real deal.

Wouldn't count on Turner being part of the core. Scouts have been saying his stuff has really regressed since he turned pro. Still extremely young though so who knows.
