1) Philbin vs Belichick I and Philbin vs Belichick II. Seeing how these two match up will determine a lot of our success over the next decade, I'd think. 2) How Gaffney and Armstrong figure in the rest of the way. 3) Ryan Tannehill, obviously. 4) Player Development. This is a new trend here. Players like John Jerry, Nolan Carroll coming back from the dead. Guys like Reshad Jones, Sean Smith, etc beginning to show veteran promise. Looking to see how the young guys (Vernon) and other guys look through the rest of the year. Hope to see steady, constant progression. 5) More of the offensive playbook. How about you?
In addition to the points you refer to I'm interested to see if the secondary can tighten up their game. I'd also like to see the TE group be more dominant in the middle of the field because I think that would force teams to back out of the box a bit and open up the running game.
While interesting, I think that's putting too much weight on those games. Philbin has very limited head coaching experience and a rookie QB, Belichick has experience and Brady. I think Philbin is fine and we'll be competitive against them, but wouldn't overreact positively or negatively after those games. Like everyone else I'm looking forward to Tannehill progressing, and taking more advantage of his athleticism. Also want to see our pass defense improve and Bush reach his potential.
I really wonder how long Belichick will coach after Brady retires. I'm not sure we're going to see Philbin v. Belichick into perpetuity. Besides, how Philbin matches up against Belichick is important, but let's not forget that even Tony Sparano has outcoached Bill Belichick. What I'm really interested to see is how Tannehill keeps up with Brady, if at all, for the next couple of years. Things that I'm looking at: 1. How Jake Long holds up the rest of the way. Big Jake just isn't the guy he was two years ago, when he was the best LT in the NFL, head and shoulders above even Joe Thomas. He's still very good, but paying him a Joe Thomas type deal would be more of a reward for past performance and reputation rather than a projection of what he would be worth in the future, IMO. 2. Safety play. I think that Reshad Jones is being overrated just because he's not looking flat-out incompetent, and I still want nothing to do with Chris Clemons. They're both better than they have been, but I feel like that's attributable to Kevin Coyle rather than the talent level of the players themselves. Coyle made the likes of Gibril Wilson look competent; I'd like to see what he can do with legitimate ballhawk talent at safety. Maybe that'll develop over the course of the season, but I'm pessimistic. 3. Misi and Odrick. Please rush the passer competently, guys. 4. Tannehill's continued development. It's fun to watch him play the game, and it's a very weird feeling to believe that our QB isn't outmatched by their QB. But Tannehill needs to get the offense into and through the red zone more frequently. The red zone has been the Dolphins' bane for a decade.
Leading the division and keeping it that way, and seeing Tannehill with more TD's than INT's. Both of those things can happen as soon as next week. So far I am a happy camper.
If the Steelers win tonight Miami becomes the current #2 wildcard team, so I'm looking forward to maintaining that while keeping division title hopes alive.
More of the same, really, hopefully with a resumption of what we saw with the running game early in the season.
Looking forward to keeping the Jets losing streak going. Looking forward to a hopefully refreshed and rejuvenated running attack led by Reggie Looking forward to Hartline having another big game
http://www.thephins.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?103-2012-GM-League-Forum Good times. Unless you have the Colts and Gish is being a bastard.
I am looking forward to watching Tannehill's further development in his rookie year. I am looking forward to see if Olivier Vernon can develop as a pass rusher to compliment Wake's pass rushing skills. I am looking forward to see what Gaffney's contribution will be to the offense and Tannehill. I am looking forward to see what Lamar Miller can do if he ever gets the opportunity to contribute. Last but not least I am looking forward to see how Philbin grows as a starting NFL Head Coach.
Bush and Tannehill obviously. I'm also looking forward to watching Miller and Egnew....whenever that may be.
Player development mostly. Sure we have a chance to the playoffs but thats as far as we could go. I want to see improvement in: 1) Tannehill 2) Miller/Thomas 3) Our qb/wr chemistry (mainly with Hartline) 4) Our secondary If these thing improve we have a few holes left in our team, and 5 picks in the top 50. I feel confident for the future
Getting: Gaffney Bush Marshall 100% and ready to play, those are 3 guys who are proven pros which is what we need.
I'm looking forward to... the first nationally televised game. wtf? seven weeks in, and I've yet seen a game on my new plasma.
What do Gaffney, Marshall and Bush have in common: All 3 were the best player on their team/unit last yr: -Marshall was the cards best defender -Bush was our best offensive player -Gaffney was the Redskins best Wr
When Cam Wake wraps the quarterback up in his hateful, crushing embrace it's my favorite thing to see on Defense. That or Karlos Dansby flying over the LoS to make consecutive stops for no gain on 1st+goal at the 1, then 2nd and goal, then 3rd... You guys realize this is the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW that the dude has single handedly executed a goal line stand? Last year against the Vikes, he did it as well. Also, Tannehill is looking very good. Conservative, definitely makes mistakes, but he's been progressing for the most part. There were a few times last week where I saw Hartline just defeat the press on a go route that I was hoping we would go deep, but maybe there was a safety further down trying to bait that. I can't see when he throws underneath, the camera never goes far enough. I'd like to see Reggie get back to form and the O-line to start blowing holes open again.
Same here I'm counting more around 15,000 to go. As for what I would like to see. Philbin getting coach of the year would be perfect. That story would only be good for a winning season.
