Seriously you better youtube some videos on how to use it. I always have to watch videos just to learn all the new tips and tricks/shortcuts with each update, and it takes a while to learn. I could only imagine how long it's going to take you to learn what you can do since its your 1st

ETA: of course you gotta DL the youtube app first.

Enjoy the i5 gentlemen. Solid phone through and through. I like the all black look. Nice change from the metal sides.

The new update with ios6 basically turns the iphone 4s into the 5 just without the physical changes and LTE. I think I'm just gonna stick it out because this update has really made the 4s a lot more efficient.

So let me ask you this guys... If You want a good GPS, it's better to avoid the iPhone5, unless you're willing to buy a 3rd party app?

I havent had any problem with the IOS maps, although apparently they arent up to the standards people are used to. It will get better. But i really dont make the decision to buy an Iphone based on its maps of all things.

Get whichever phone you want based on its merits and what's relevant to you.

That said, I think the Maps whining is largely overblown. People expected a brand new release to have the same or better feature set as something that's been around for 8 years (and on mobile for five.) Google will likely eventually submit a Google Maps app to the App Store, and you can still use it via the web. In the meantime, the only two quirks I've noticed are a small shopping plaza that's just a blank square on the map, and the Marlins Ballpark is still labeled as the Orange Bowl. I submitted a correction for the latter.

Personally, I love the Apple maps. I love the way it is integrated now with Yelp. I can see on the map instantly restaurants that are nearby, get reviews, phone numbers, etc. without having to launch another app.

    OK...

Still trying to decide between iPhone 5 or Samsung S3. Help me out guys. Why would you choose an iPhone? As of now, droid is all I know. Kind of want to try the iPhone on for size, but am afraid of buyers remorse. That seems to be the big holdup. So, if you were a salesman, what would you tell me?

What are your priorities? What do you do with your phone? What do you want to do with your phone going forward? It's hard to say "Get this" without knowing what you want to do and what you value.

Otherwise I'm just going to issue a blanket iPhone 5 recommendation.

It's hard to say. I never did a lot with my droid X. Didn't think there was much I could do lol.

I use it for calls, texting, data lol. I'm not too sure what you mean.

What are you, a 90 year old man? The S3/Iphone 5 is a mini computer/tablet. There are TONS of uses for it.

    EDIT: NvM.

There's no reason for me to go iPhone. Samsung can do everything and more. It's cheaper too if I go on amazon. It's a shame squaretrade has a lower deductable for iphone replacements ($50 for $100). I'd much rather fork over $50, but what can you do? Thanks anyway guys.

Advantage: iPhone 5, due to broad HSPA+ and LTE spectrum for telephony and data, and iMessage + SMS.

Advantage: Android, since Google Maps are further along than Apple's maps. Though Apple's turn by turn implementation is better than Android's.

There's an app for that. Advantage: iPhone.

Advantage: iPhone. iTunes Store, Spotify app, Pandora app.

Advantage: iPhone, again due to the iTunes Store. Grab the Podcasts app and search for Joe Rogan. Simple.

Facebook and Twitter are available for everything. Tie, though iOS 6 integrates both for quicker access.

Mobile Safari is faster on the iPhone 5 than Mobile Chrome on any Android phone. Advantage: iPhone.

Available for everything, like Twitter and Facebook. Tie.

Just got back from the store after playing with these two phones for a bit.

I enjoy the droid OS more. I like the customization much better. However, one big flaw was the screen of the SG3. It's very dark. I don't know why, but even after adjusting brightness to the max, the colors don't pop on the browser. Thephins.com looks wholly better on the iphone. Not even close. This concerns me with other media I may want to use.

Anyone have any thoughts as to why? The brightness was fine on the homepage, it looked sharp. Not a big difference between the two if any. but those webpages were terrible looking, imo.

The Samsung Galaxy III uses an AMOLED display. Its color gamut is limited compared to LCD displays, so Samsung compensated by increasing brightness. The result is what most people see as an oversaturated display with cartoony colors. Samsung markets it as having 100% NTSC (TV) color spectrum, but computing devices don't use NTSC, they use sRGB.

The iPhone 5 display is LCD with LED backlighting and 100% sRGB (not NTSC) color gamut. So it's basically a super-crisp PC display. That's why it looks better than the GS3's display.

Sprint sucks in my area. I'm with Verizon, with the opportunity to go to ATT, which is a step below. Coudn't even get full bars in an ATT wireless store. Always have full bars with Verizon. I don't really want to leave Verizon either. Great phone service and customer service.

I might just go with iPhone... Honestly, the Squaretrade insurance is cheaper (99 bucks) and the deductible for a new phone is $50. While I don't like the lack of customization, I can't see that as a total deal breaker. Plus I can get a GPS that'll do pretty cheap (Waze or Motion for .99). Plus I wasn't crazy about the size of the G3. Thing is ****ing big. It's kind of odd to hold in hand and isn't exactly great for throwing in a pocket. I would enjoy the screen for media, I'm sure, but it's not going to crush me terribly. My droid X screen is smaller and it does fine.

Going to make a final decision over the weekend and make my order sunday night. iPhone's aren't getting delivered until the 26th anyway.

If you're on ATT & want LTE, then wait for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Coming out end of this month or next.

I'm going to use my mom's upgrade & get the Note 2 then hand me down my S3 to my mom.

Clark, get the SGS3 and its not even close (though i'd love to get a Note, i just want a bigger screen still, can never be too big)...

But i have the SGS3 and you will have no crashing issues, you will have sick battery life, so many extra features that you might not think you'll use, but you will... as i find with people I encounter, some are stuck in the iPhone sphere and its difficult to get out, because iPhone controls so much you can and can't do, which programs you can and can't use, etc... everything they have is already set in i-world and they think they'd have to change that for Android... but if you are not in that restrictive i-world, dont get in now, believe me you'll regret it... unless like you said you only use the phone for simple stuff, then iPhone works, its a simpler phone...

Best option though is to try out both, I dont know how many days Verizon gives you but usually you have at least 2 weeks where you can return a phone at no expense to you and get a different one... get one for two weeks, then get the other and decide that way...
