it'd be nice. Don't see it happening though. Kraft would shell out money from his own pockets before letting someone go to miami.

Not a chance it will happen. Pats will not let him go and the only way he could is if he was offered full control which the league will not buy with Parcells as VP.

That would be great if it happened, not only would it be agreat move, but it would be a big "**** You!" to the Pats.

Very remote chance of it happening with the league rules the way they are. However, Scott Pioli is one of only a handful of candidates who would be an undisputed upgrade over Randy Mueller.

    Who's Scott Poili?

    ;-)

Actually, he's rated above a GM position so he would be off-limits. He's basically doing what Parcells would do for us if he comes on board as expected.

It would be a dream to have him here, but I think that the league has rules against lateral transfers for Front Office and coaching movements and with Tuna here not sure if we can give him the promotion needed. On him wanting to be here (if that were the case) not sure if that would be enough to by pass that rule either.

For it to happen legally New England would have to fire him and then the 'phins would have to sign him before anybody else.

    Not impossible but very unlikely.

I thought that rule only applied to coaches and not management??? If the rule does apply, when is his contract up??? he could possibly come at that time....

I read this on another site that Scott Pioli signed a contract extension on July 15, 2005 and the terms of this extention was not disclosed.

The New England Patriots have signed Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli to a contract extension. Terms of the extension were not disclosed.
"We are proud to announce this extension," said Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft. "Scott has done a tremendous job managing our personnel department and overseeing the draft for us. He has successfully evaluated, recruited and acquired talented players who are also quality individuals that represent our family well, both on the field and in the community."

"There is mutual respect between Robert, Jonathan, the Kraft family and myself," said Pioli. "We have shared a great deal of success and I am happy to have an extended agreement with them."

He also said at that time that he and Bil Belichick had made a decision to stay with the Patriots for as long as Bob Kraft would have them.

yep. I remember that quite well actually. Miami and New York were both trying to get him. Poili was the only guy Saban would have relinquished GM duties to.

IMHO I would not see a reason anyone of them would leave and they're on a verge of winning another championship again. The only reason I see is if Kraft sells the team because he's just tired of being an owner and wants to retire.
