"Pouncey probably has the most interaction with Tannehill being as he snaps him the ball on every play. He has vowed to get the rest of the offensive line going again in the running game so as to take some pressure off of his quarterback.

“Once they start respecting Tannehill’s passing game because they can see that he can throw the football now, they’ll stop putting as many guys down there and our running game will get back up,” Pouncey said. “He’s doing a phenomenal job right now for us.”

Makes a lot of sense considering our run struggles, teams at this point are trying to make Tannehill win under pressure and by making him one dimensional..So far that hasn't worked to well, should be interesting to see if teams start to back off and try something different.

I'm just not sure why defenses wouldn't have been doing that from the beginning of the season, when we were dominating on the ground, against a rookie QB.

Why would you not stack eight in the box and make a rookie QB beat you from the get-go?

It has been a long time since I have been able to say that I feel comfortable when we drop back to pass. The kid is flat out smart and has the tools to become a great quaterback.

maybe when teams are beating you up front Mano e Mano, you are forced to play differently as a defense, you have to provide help up front if your getting gashed by the opponents run game, and we were gashing fools in the beginning, so now that the run game has predictably slowed, Tannehill starts softening them up, they will have to back off the LOS a bit...hopefully it is the successful blueprint to how a Qb and system evolve together.

IIRC, the reasoning I heard was that they were hoping to show different looks to confuse the rookie.

In the preseason games, it seemed like Miami threw the ball quite a bit, and other than 1 or 2 drives against Atlanta, the running game didn't really show much in the preseason. Having only that tape to view Tannehill with, while with Miami, it seems logical that the first few opponents anticipated much more passing than what Miami actually gave them.

Tannehill has done a great job so far. I love how he scans the field before he throws. Something henne never did.

Until Tannehill can post more than 17 points in a game (which is about average the past 3 games) we are going to see the box stacked to keep them more one dimensional.

This is a big plus and not throwing 4th quarter interceptions.

Who does Tannehill remind you of? Any quaterbacks that have comparable size, arm strength, and as agile? How quick is his release compared to some of the greats?

Good thing we didn't play the Raiders where we scored 35. We also scored 20 and 21 in the two after the Raiders. We're half and half on +17 points. We also average 20 PPG.

Wasn't the Raiders game nice? Having an effective running game opening up those sweet pass plays. Now if Tannehill can make them pay for plugging the running game at the line of scrimmage the points should come back up.

Edit: What I'm getting at is either the D's we have played are better or they have found a way to slow our running game down hard, I'm thinking the later. If Tannehill can back them up and keep them honest the run game will return. It is up to Tannehill to back the D off the line. Tannehill must counter punch what teams are using to slow us down he is a rookie and they will test him. Marlin Moore was just what the doctor called for against the Rams.

The defense won't be able to keep every game winnable if we don't score more than 20 points. The last two wins were with 17 points.

Tannehill isn't turning the ball over, which is a good thing. But the offense isn't producing much either. Bush has gone from the focal point to a virtual non factor, a decoy basically. I'd say stacking the box vs our offense has worked pretty well. we certainly haven't done much to discourage teams from continuing to do it.

IMO why the main task during the bye week should be on developing a rhythm between Tannehill and the receivers down the field. The offense needs to work on how it's been solved by other teams.

probably because he is a Rookie, and being a rookie, AND EXPECT HIM TO MAKE THE rookie mistakes... But he has not since the Jets game... He has been methological, ala Peyton... Gosh he remind me so much of Peyton when he gets behind center and starts his audibles and hand signals...

    No Sh**.

While my answer would be Ryan Tannehill, I know folks are looking for names of the past or present to label him by. So, if you think Peyton Manning, I would advise you to also look at his predecessor that wore the blue horseshoe for many years, Johnny Unitas.

Also in today's game aside from Manning at LoS and "mind" like.....I would personally put the legs, and subtle agility in the pocket (Marino like moves), and downfield heads up accuracy while on the move, of A. Rodgers as comparable to Tannehill.

But again, I would simply say Ryan Tannehill as the only real answer.

Getting Armstrong, Gaffney, Matthews and Clay fully integrated would be awesome. It won't be a major upgrade but even a minor improvement would pay off given how teams are playing us right now.

For me, I dont think quick smooth release when I think Rivers.....its just hard for me to put the River's motion image in my head, and use it as comparison to Tannehill. Other aspects maybe, but River's is an awkward QB always has come off as such to me. No way do I see Tannehill in Rivers game.

    He's very overrated, imo.

Been in the league way too long to keep making dumb mistakes that hold back his game. Tony Romo West, if you will.

Really disagree. Rivers is one of the elite QBs in my eyes. No way do I see Romo of the west in him.

When's the last time another elite QB turned the ball over 6 times in 1 game?
